Do we need this or is there another one already started?

I only just caught up with the second episode of the new season and had been avoiding the last thread for a bit so as not to see spoilers and it is now full!

Ignore me if there is a new thread already on the go. If not feel free to use this one mate.

Nosauce I meant the current series, I’m impatient and want to watch it all at once Grin

Alwaysgrey · 19/04/2019 08:36

Maybe Mrs Ted is H! I think she’s more than what she’s been made to seem.

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/04/2019 08:54

In other news, apparently the last episode in this series will be a feature-length 90 minutes, to tie up loose ends.

Bring. It. On.

Violetroselily · 19/04/2019 09:00

Wasnt the last episode of series 3 also 90 minutes?

Violetroselily · 19/04/2019 09:02

My point being that one of the articles about this finale was banging on about it being thr longest ever episode...except, it isnt Hmm

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/04/2019 09:02

No, that was 75 minutes, according to the article I read but which I can't find again now.

Violetroselily · 19/04/2019 09:05

iPlayer says 1 hour 27 min

If this finale is even half as good as series 3 I will be very pleased

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/04/2019 09:09

Yes indeed - I'm hoping for real edge of seat stuff! Can't wait Grin

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 19/04/2019 09:12

Yes S3E6 was 90 mins too. That was the best episode

HerculePoirotsGreyCells · 19/04/2019 09:16

Ive not long discovered this series and have just started watching series 2 on catchup. There was a scene though that really bothers me. When non-police couriers deliver the information from witness protection, the boxes were regular office archive style ones. Such sensitive information should be in locked boxes surely? And then Hastings shouts about the witness protection files being there whilst the delivery drivers are still in the room. It just struck me as such a security breach!

Cary2012 · 19/04/2019 10:39

I had the most awful dream fellas:
Kate and Steve were leaning over the balcony of doom, watching Ted signing in for his interrogation interview and he looked so sad and broken. And they were smirking.
Horrible it was.

buggerthebotox · 19/04/2019 11:56

@now - perhaps Corbett made a wild guess at Steve having met Roisin before. There's a fairly good chance they'd have a met at some point. Or maybe Corbett was told by someone else - Ted himself?

SinkGirl · 19/04/2019 15:43

Been rewatching season 1 and something is concerning me...

The scenes with Hilton and Hastings: it’s so incredibly clear that Hilton is a clueless little upstart who’s constantly shitting himself about how things are going. There’s no way in a million years that Ted would believe Hilton is the big boss of an OCG. No chance. So why is he saying he is? Just to deflect attention from his own undercover work?

Powell definitely knows Ted, and they both know more than they’re saying.

Also, Mrs Ted has a new man - who is he? The property guy (who is clearly involved and dodgy)?

The only police officer we have ever seen that I could imagine heading up an OCG is Philip Osborne but can’t see how H would fit. I do suspect that Hunter is alive, and possibly Dot too (GoT rules: no one is dead unless you specifically watch them die, and even then it might not last!)

My new theory is that every single character in LOD is actually an UCO.

SinkGirl · 19/04/2019 15:44

Oh and also, in S1E6, Dot tells Hilton about his days as a caddy and Hilton doesn’t put it together at all - you can see he’s completely clueless.

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 19/04/2019 15:58

Bugger, why would he need to say anything then? When you've met someone before you don't generally ask have we met before. You just say hi again

DarlingNikita · 19/04/2019 16:01

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel, it was quite a long time ago, I suppose. And I think he was deliberately being vague to introduce doubt, so that she would think 'Um, yes, I think we have' rather than 'No, I don't remember you.'

SinkGirl · 19/04/2019 16:43

I think he was just trying to work out if she’d realise he wasn’t Steve or not. Seems like she did realise it wasn’t him, but wasn’t smart enough to shut the door.

YaBentBastard · 19/04/2019 16:59

Maybe when John keeps going on about ‘Hastings’ being bent, in charge and ‘H’, he’s actually referring to Mrs Ted??

buggerthebotox · 19/04/2019 17:01

..or he was checking that she was, in fact, Mrs Ted. He said "hello Ma'am", Steve Arnott ; I believe we've met" eliciting a positive response. He's affirming a common link to gain her trust.

How did he know where to go though? AFAIK Ted said to Moffatt in their conversation that the family house had been sold?

buggerthebotox · 19/04/2019 17:04

@sink that's what I meant I think Smile

WhoWants2Know · 19/04/2019 18:19

Seriously, wouldn't Mrs. H remember?

If you went to dinner with a couple of your husband's colleagues (even at a rough time in your marriage) and shortly afterwards one of them is murdered, wouldn't that whole thing stick in your mind?

SinkGirl · 19/04/2019 19:10

It would, but they’re both short with dark hair, maybe you’d think “yikes, he’s changed a bit”. Clearly she’s unsure from how she behaves.

WRT Tommy Hunter, I know someone said he pulled his hood off in a flashback - but wasn’t that Denton’s flashback and she didn’t see it?

What was it Hunter said in the recording? I can’t remember - was it definitely about Dryden?

ElspethFlashman · 19/04/2019 19:19

He purposely kept his face in shadow. And then he put on a balaclava when she turned away. So theoretically she hasn't seen his face clearly at all and just saw "short, white with black hair"

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 19/04/2019 20:38

I'm beginning to wonder if this 'H' is actually a double agent & is planning on bringing every single bent copper down. Though how 'H' would get away with it unless he's got total immunity.
This idea popped into my head after watching the first ten minutes of LoD Series 1 when that poor man with the baby got shot by mistake (one of the door numbers was the wrong way round, so the armed police unit went to the wrong flat.)
The higher up police officer made everyone involved give a different version of events so they wouldn't get the blame. Steve wasn't happy with this but was threatened with being made the fall guy if he didn't play ball. Then Steve transferred to AC-12.
Just thinking if it relates back to that, remembering the total shock on the polices faces when they realised they'd made a huge mistake.

beanaseireann · 19/04/2019 22:15

Ted Hastings - Adrian Dunbar has just been on The Late Late Show RTE 1 ( Irish tv) interviewed by Ryan Tubridy. He met the ShrineofDuty podcasters. Worth a watch on YouTube.
