Do we need this or is there another one already started?

I only just caught up with the second episode of the new season and had been avoiding the last thread for a bit so as not to see spoilers and it is now full!

Ignore me if there is a new thread already on the go. If not feel free to use this one mate.

Kate is too young to be H. Dot was groomed to be the Caddy by Tommy whatshisface from a young age, and Tommy was well in with H and the bent coppers so it's been ongoing for a while. Unless H is just a 'position' rather than a person and the baton is passed long the ranks

Piggywaspushed · 15/04/2019 07:54

By the way, could anyone else not sleep last night? I think maybe something more soporific for a Sunday night might help!

diddl · 15/04/2019 07:55

"I’m going to be totally honest here. I have LOVED all previous series of LoD and I was ridiculously excited about this series. I follow MC, SG and VM on Twitter. But, but, but... I’m just not wowed by series 5 so far"

Yup.

As a pp put, Gates, Denton-fab characters.

Corbett is just annoying to me!

placemats · 15/04/2019 08:00

What was the spelling error?

poundoflard · 15/04/2019 08:00

Well I have to say it was all a bit too fast action and too many 'charlie zero one two'- type things for me to realise what was going on and who was calling the shots. I'll have to re watch as my brain isn't fast enough these days

Lucky there is a MN commentary or else I'd've given up .

However I have to say I think Steven Graham's character is really intense and growing on me. I think he is fab in this , and personally I have to read with subtitles as he talks too fast as his accent is so strong :)

Do you think he went to Mrs Ted's as Steve to blackmail/set up Steve? as when he left the carpark, he said something to Steve ( I can't remember what exactly) kind of insinuating he was on his own/ it was all Steves fault, and Steve shouting 'What is'?

Hastings will have his DNA nabbed by Gill and 'definately' something dodgy with the loo/laptop that shes onto.
And the property guy.
In fact when they pulled the balaclava off I thought it was the Property guy, ex copper at first.

So lets get this straight.....Lise said the big man was coming, but big man got tipped off so sent Hargreaves instead. John thought it was the big guy and shot him, but he was obv the scapegoat?

Who told them about the trackers? Was it the UCO who we haven't figured out yet, who tipped off Big man H who then passed info to Hargreaves?

I'll re watch but any help would be nice :)

placemats · 15/04/2019 08:03

It's okay, I've definitely/definately got it!

Charley50 · 15/04/2019 08:04

Vicky McLure is amazing in This is England. I love LoD but her character in this is very rigid and fairly one-dimensional. She's married to her job, and that's mainly the only side we see of her. To me she also comes over as a bit wooden in this role, but maybe it's partly the writing.

placemats · 15/04/2019 08:06

Just an aside here re the splellin mistake. Some people write according to their accent. Just saying.

Charley50 · 15/04/2019 08:07

Corbett is unravelling fast and has pretty much lost the plot now in his mission to rid the force of Bent Coppers!!!

He could easily go as far as killing Mrs Hastings.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 15/04/2019 08:07

Piggywaspushed I have come across quite a few university educated people (and I'm not talking Millennials) who still spell 'definately' rather than definitely, DH included.

NoSauce · 15/04/2019 08:07

I agree that this series isn’t as good as the Denton/Roz ones. I can’t stand Corbett or Leeeze ( Lis ) going to have to watch it again though. Usually have to keep pausing it so DH can explain something but he fell asleep last night!

Charley50 · 15/04/2019 08:08

I think the definitately was deliberate (by the writers of the show) and is a clue to be used later on.

placemats · 15/04/2019 08:12

The other thing is re mistake; would a police solicitor misspell that word?

poundoflard · 15/04/2019 08:13

I reckon this series is so confusing because Jed has read every blimmin comment put on MN and knows he's got to stay one step ahead of the MN sleuths or this thread would be full of spoilers and no doubt picked up by every tabloid.

We'redoing him a service really.
Just keeping you on your toes Jed Wink

beanaseireann · 15/04/2019 08:17

What's on Hastings laptop ?
Why isn't Lisa, who is deeply suspicious of Corbett, tailing him or getting him tailed and seeing him meeting Arnott ?

PrincessScarlett · 15/04/2019 08:21

Agree with Kitty about Lise/Lisa. The SS letter suggests she has been in care. I think she was a former victim of grooming. Maybe she has her own agenda after what she's been through. She's not an undercover cop but some sort of vigilante intent on bringing the OCG down for revenge.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 15/04/2019 08:29

I think Lise might be an undercover cop run by Hastings

Piggywaspushed · 15/04/2019 08:29

The actual on screen writing on that laptop would be done by some props person. The programme is made in NI. That's how many say definitely there
..I think it's actually just an error. We'll see!

poundoflard · 15/04/2019 08:30

Now if Ted was aware of the laptop chats he would know where to go to get Corbett wouldn't he.?..if he really wanted to get his man that is....
He makes out they need to find Corbett, to make AC-12 look credible and successful, and if he knew where Corbett was and who he was, he could've done that easily if he was indeed the top man communicating with Corbett.?
But the reason he hasn't could be because Corbett knows Hastings is the Big man H. ....hmmmm....?

Clearly I've been dreaming too much and had too little sleep to think these through rationally.

Milicentbystander72 · 15/04/2019 08:31

Enjoying series so far, even though I was slightly confused by last nights episode. I'm definitely (spelled right 😉) sticking with it. How can people just walk away after 4 series??

I have no new theories. Gill is dodgy as hell but I don't think she's H. In all honestly I can't think of anyone who could be H apart from Hastings and they've just made that idea way too obvious to be true.

I think the acting is incredible. Will not have a bad word said against VM. I really recommend an interview podcast with her hosted by 'Dot' called the Two shot podcast.

Just for fun, leaving this here. Made me smile.

poundoflard · 15/04/2019 08:32

@wolfcub

I too thought that about Lisa, one of my theories was shes UCO and Ted knows but as I say above he could've used her to get straight to Corbett. (unless he didnt want to be outed as H)

GrandmasNightie · 15/04/2019 08:42

Didn't Jed mecurio recently say that although he knows who H is, if he thinks of a better storyline he is still able to change it? So I don't think we will find out till S6 or even S7

TheweewitchRoz · 15/04/2019 08:50

Can I just confirm that people in NI know how to spell definitely - whether a mistake or deliberate, it's not an NI thing to spell it incorrectly!

I've no clue what's going on, but I really wish we'd find out who H is in this series - I don't want to wait for another series for that!

PrincessScarlett · 15/04/2019 08:58

And when Steve and Kate interviewed the girl from the brothel they assumed that Lise was meeting the same man at the brothel for sexual favours. But it could be that Lise goes into a room with the same man to meet and the assumed sexual favours is their cover.
