I have a handful of female colleagues who are friends too and we have all said, spontaneously, that Fleabag speaks to us and we recognise her in each other iyswim. I knew instinctively that they would adore it and that colleagues who I don't gel with wouldn't "get it". She is my colleague A's playfulness and K's acerbic wit and J's self deprecation. She legitimises female experience in a way most dramas can't. I love the female gaze in it. It's a study in skilled writing, direction and production. There is nothing wasted in it. It is so SO good.
