There isn't space on the first thread so thought I'd start another.

I'm watching the first episode and have a couple of questions.

When Kate went back to the apartment (and found her daughter was missing) she was surprised the door was open further than it should be. Yet she hadn't been there before, had she? The friend went the previous time (and didn't bother to check the children were there) and Gerry went the time before. So why was Kate surprised to see the door further open? And why was she going to go back again without checking? The door slammed due to the open window, which made her open it to check the window.

Also, the woman (don't know her name, sorry) who played tennis with Gerry said that he was going up the hill to the apartment (for the first check) and she said, "You're going the wrong way!" and he said, "I'll be back in a minute, Madeleine's (or my daughter's) gone missing. And then when the woman heard a child had gone missing she didn't realise it was Gerry's. That sounds so odd. Not suspicious, just odd.

That's my best guess, they were sedated but just to keep them sleeping while the parents went to dinner and that made it easier for her to be abducted without a disturbance

IMO it's all a "perfect storm" of very unfortunate events. They were in an area with a lot of paedophiles, and the tapas restaurant staff were aware that the children were alone every night. Also, I think that after Madeleine said that she (and one of the twins) were crying the night before, they were sedated on the night that Madeleine went missing, which is why Kate was checking that the twins were still breathing. The patio doors being left unlocked obviously didn't help either.

It's probably a bit like the whole JonBenet Ramsey case though, where the parents are suspects, but no-one really knows what happened.

I watched the whole thing and did not think the parents were involved at all. Just heartbreaking all round. The PJ in Portugal just seemed useless. I couldn't believe Amal was pissed off with the parents as they didn't thank him. What a dick.

I don't remember it being brought up that the children were sedated though. Was there evidence or speculation?

The checking on the children business is all very muddled and no reconstruction was performed. It seems possible that some people said, "Oh, yes, I checked." When they didn't. You wouldn't want to admit that you could have raised the alarm if you had checked but had in fact skipped it.

Re the sedation: the twins didn't wake up during all the kerfuffle, which has led people to speculate that in order to have an uninterrupted evening at the tapas bar the McCanns - and possibly their friends too - were dosing their children up.

There’s no evidence of sedation - more likely kids were exhausted from the kids club activities - mine passed out at that age and wouldn’t have woke easily.

The thing with the pedophile or abduction theory for me is would they have left the twins. Horrific to contemplate but I can’t see them leaving twins and only targeting MM.

But I suppose it's like theft of anything. There's only so much space or people to carry them? Also maybe more likely to cause a commotion and get discovered?

Kate mentioned sedation in her book. She said she thought the twins could have been sedated by the kidnapper to stop them waking as they were so sleepy that night and the next day. She says she mentioned it to the officer in charge and when nothing was tested, they organised their own testing but not until September.

Kate and Fiona are qualified anaesthetists thought which is were the theory that they sedated the children themselves comes from.

If I thought someone had sedated my dcs I'd be getting them medical attention (or in their state getting someone else to). As it was, they took their twins to the kids' club.

I must admit, some of their behaviour was bizarre. I do not think for a second they were involved, but they did do odd things, such as Kate McCann getting highlights and posting their jogging times on FB in the days after M's disappearance.

I think the fact they took MM and not the very much younger twins highlighted more that it was a paedophile abduction.

Just finished watching it, so heartbreaking. Just seems so unbelievable that in this day and age a child can just disappear without a trace. Scary.

I think in their attempt to control the situation and in using PR services they ended up being ill advised. Everything looked contrived. It was totally the wrong thing to do.

When Gerry is getting interviewed coming off the plane he is carrying one of the twins. They are fast asleep on his shoulder.
This means the child has probably been picked from their seat, carried along a busy plane aisle, been brought down the airline steps and is still sleeping through an interview.
This child is obviously a deep sleeper and could easily sleep through the abduction.

This has alll been speculated on but the twins never woke at all throughout that long night. Apparently KM was checking their breathing. The parents thought they may have been sedated by the abductor. Why wouldn’t you have them checked out in A&E and tests run that night.

This search has now been funded for over £12m for 1 kid - how many other people could this immense sum of money have found?
Some sources suggest over 30,000 people!
The Madeleine McCann website continues to request money and now even a book - it is not a registered charity and does not publish how its money is spent, yet continues to spend vast resources on media advertising.
Has anyone ever asked why are the parents themselves are not being held liable for child neglect - if the parents had been parenting properly (no excuse given they are medical professionals) the kid would not have been left alone in the first place.
Give your money to a more worthwhile cause that keep funding this 12 year old saga.

People seriously need to watch these. The amount of information (true, not conspiracy ) that the MSM have left out of public forum is immense.
