I have read and re-read my volumes about the doyennes of Tilling until they are quite literally dropping to bits. I also downloaded them for my kindle , but as the kindle is the work of the Devil, I use it for emergencies only - I like my tatty, shabby, much-thumbed and dearly loved paper copies. I may have to invest in new ones, but I will still keep the others - the sentimental value is too high to dispose of them.

However, I did think that the TV adaptation (the first one, with Prunella Scales and Nigel Hawthorne) wasn't too bad at all . . . when I look at what they've done to Agatha Raisin . . . *

• I wasn't a great fan of the AR books - DH read them a lot, but I did read them on holiday when I ran out of reading material and was that or the sauce bottle. The stories were predictable shite, but AR herself, with her shiney hair, and "small, bear-like eyes" really captured my imagination from that bit of physical description alone). Telly has ruined her! Even DH (who is mildly in love with Agatha) watched 10 - 15 minutes and switched off, never to return.

So I’m about half way through last night’s episode and Annabelle is really pissing me off

I'm ready to go on MasterChef. I think it will have to be the Professionals or it wouldn't be fair to proper amateurs. Fish finger sandwich (gourmet version) for dinner tonight. #winning
