Too late for a reply - 19 Greek Street which is very close to Charing Cross Road/Cambridge Circus. I detoured slightly to see the shop and car as I was walking from Waterloo to the British Museum. I went past again on my way back to St-Martin-in-the-Fields.
I decided to reread the book and was doing so both in the queue and in the church whilst waiting for the Radio 4 Ascension Day Service!
I didn't know about the House of MinaLima - it will be on my list when we go to the Manga Exhibition.

Watching now. As a fan of the book since I was 11 or 12 (it would be on my top 10 books list if I had one), I’ve been waiting for this adaptation for 25 years. It’s better than I dared hope - entirely faithful to the book while updating it for a new audience. Pretty much perfect so far.

Ep1 watched and it was fantastic! I'd be watching more tonight but have promised ds we'd watch together.

I wasn't totally sold on episode 1. It seemed a bit flatter and less witty than my memory of the book - though thinking about it, I did reread the start recently and found it took a while to get going. Episode 2 on the other hand I really enjoyed. Am trying to pace myself and not watch them all in one go.

Watched episode 1. Loved it, great casting so far

I started waatching it for the leads DT and MS, big fn of both actors nd the trailer looked good. Thought it was beautifully filmed with decent sfx and although I wasn't sure of the demographic as it seemed a bit lemony snickety I really enjoyed it and DP laughed out loud at least 3x.
But it seemed oddly familiar to me and for the life of me I couldn't work out why...until episode 5 when it dawned on me my ex would have read it (Terry Pratchett fan)and I had in fact cover your ears fans as you will deem me a heathen skim read it at college nearly 30 years ago. I may well now purchase a copy and read it properly

I think for the purposes of this thread it's not so much a demographic as a demonographic...

Loved it. I reread the book yesterday in preparation. I was disappointed the city of my birth (Hull) didn’t get mentioned.

I've always said Azirrafail @ladyofthecanyon. But then I called Draco Malfoy Drah-co until the films came out so what do I know.

I'm not quite as blown away as I thought I would be - I thought the casting of DT and MS would be perfect, but I didn't enjoy DT in his role as much as I thought I would, I loved him in Doctor Who. I kept imagining Pete Doherty in the role for some reason. Anathaema Device is different to how I imagined too.

Am 2/3 of the way through. Will have to then go back and carefully watch again.

The only slight issue I have so far is with Anathema bribg quite so gorgeous. She's described as "not astonishingly beautiful. All her features, considered individually, were extremely pretty, but the entirety of her face gave the impression that it had been put together hurriedly from stock without reference to any plan. Probably the most suitable word is 'attractive,' although people who knew what it meant and could spell it might add 'vivacious,' although there is something very Fifties about 'vivacious,' so perhaps they wouldn't." But the actress is undoubtedly stunning.

I’ve watched three eps and although I’ve vaguely enjoyed it, I’m not blown away. Some of the characters seem off. Shadwell is not grubby enough, the kids are a bit stage schooly and I agree about Anathema. I feel like they’ve concentrated on getting as many cameos of known actors packed in than eeking out the subtle wit and emotional nuance.

Still as an aside, I had a dream a few nights ago that involved some hand holding and “pashing” with Jack Whitehall (why brain? Why? WHY?) which was both disturbing and disappointing in equal measures. I mean if you’re going to have a mediocre sex dream it should at least be with someone hunky and not some lanky young posh boy. So imagine my horror when, on seeing Adultery Pulsifer I thought to myself “Oh who’s that handsome young man, he looks familiar?!”.

I will not tolerate having a crush on Jack Whitehall. No, no, no! Not happening.

Watched this last night with my two teens and we all loved it.

Weirdly, my DS said he thought DT was playing as Pete Doherty. And I thought Anathema looked very like Meghan Markle.

I thought she actually was Meghan Markle for a good few minutes until it dawned on me she wouldn't have much time for filming recently.

Glad it wasn’t just me who saw the resemblance 😆. I did love the clothes she wore too, wonder if there is a way to find out where they came from. 🤔

I wondered for a second, if it was Meghan Markle too. Loved her clothes too - couldn't pull that look off myself but if I looked as gorgeous as that actress then I totally would dress like that.
