I was just having a nose at #casualty on Twitter. Lots of comments about the upcoming romance. Not going to lie, not one I'd have predicted. Mind you there's also this comment:

I was doing ok until they drove past the hospital, then that last scene with Charlie breaking down and I was in bits again... 😢😢

If Derek Thompson doesn't get an award for his performance, there's no justice!!

#duffy #Casualty #ChuffyForever

So I'm no too sure how reliable people's thoughts on Twitter are!!

David actor was quite fanciable when he was in Heartbeat. It's quite a tribute to his acting ability that he comes over so differently in Casualty.

spiderlight · 09/02/2020 10:32

David was very hot indeed last night!

When Charlie was going on about feeling that he'd forgotten something, I was thinking 'You've forgotten to tell her sons!'

Does anyone play Casualty Bingo?
Opening scene, kids on a building site, scaffolding collapses - BINGO
Second scene, woman in office working away, stomach pains, lo and behold surprise baby - BINGO
And many more scenarios.
We’ve played it for years, the first person to guess what will happen then shouts Bingo when it does, and gets a cuppa made for them.

RhubarbBikini · 09/02/2020 12:14

I can't watch casualty without feeling pained that Derek Thompson gets paid more per episode of pretending to be a nurse than real nurses will earn in a whole year.

MadisonAvenue · 09/02/2020 14:51

Yes, I definitely saw a different David last night. His hair looked better too.

Bluerussian · 09/02/2020 15:15

David is a very sympathetic character.

I caught up with Casualty by watching the previous Saturday's episode in which Duffy went missing from home and found her in the snow, she was rushed to hospital etc, so now I know what happened.

I am so in bits about it but I've watched the programme since the start.

It's very sad that Duffy was killed off.

Surely everyone knows that actors are generally paid more than the average person? I don't grudge them one bit, it's a fickle and uncertain profession, someone can be flavour of the month for a while and then disappear for years except for pantos. If they bag a gig in a regular series they at least have some security - and it is jolly hard work.

that last scene with Charlie breaking down and I was in bits again...

And there was me thinking he looked like Teddy Ruxpin.

Duffy only delivered her own grandchild a couple of years ago, didn’t she? What were the writers thinking? Even a ‘they can’t make it over in time’ line would have made more sense than ignoring her sons’ existence.

QueenofmyPrinces · 09/02/2020 21:06

Glad I’m not the only one to fancy David.

Take him out of his scrubs and remove his bumbag and he’s a totally different man Grin

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 09/02/2020 21:09

If only he had a sexier surname. Durr is what sassy teenagers say to their parents in 90s sitcoms.

Squigean · 09/02/2020 21:24

I would like to stress that the quote in bold in my last post is not my opinion!!!

It's very important no one thinks it is!!!

Extracurricularfatigue · 09/02/2020 21:41

I knew that. Grin

JustDanceAddict · 10/02/2020 08:00

Is it bad I didn’t even cry at the episode? Had just watched CTM which was really sad, and then wooden Charlie!
It’s not like I haven’t had family members w dementia but I felt the whole thing didn’t ring true - both members took years to pass away but obv they’re not going to drag it out on TV.

Yes, we play spot the accident, maddiemookins. Sometimes they play with us - you see someone going up a ladder and you think "Falls off ladder" and it turns out it's the bloke holding the ladder who has appendicitis. The game is made easier if the scenario includes a vaguely recognisable actor, as they're bound to be either the casualty or closely connected to the casualty.

The other game is spot the diagnosis, where we try to get there before the docs do. Because there are certain TV clichés (woman clutches flat stomach = ectopic, woman clutches less flat stomach = labour or miscarriage) it's usually fairly easy.

Squigean · 10/02/2020 19:38

I hope not @JustDanceAddict, orherwise I've very bad!! It didn't dampen my eyes once, in fact I sniggered at bits (like the drive-by of the A&E with all the staff and even the ambulances lined up)

ChimpyChops · 10/02/2020 20:41

Well, David is quite a surprise 🔥

JustDanceAddict · 15/02/2020 21:36

Take the hat off Harmony ffs

m00rfarm · 15/02/2020 22:05

I have just looked Jason Durr up - I would NEVER have guessed he was Mike in Heartbeat! I've always had a bit of a soft spot for him as David ... Blush

QueenofmyPrinces · 15/02/2020 22:59

I found tonight’s episode really uncomfortable watching because I couldn’t believe Violet would put harmony at so much risk. I need to remind myself that the program is not real Grin

I feel in love with Ethan again now he has apologised to Rash.

Housemum · 16/02/2020 00:12

Disappointed that they downplayed the battery swallowing - made it seem like not a big deal. If the child had swallowed a lithium battery and it lodged in the oesophagus he could have bled to death before they had a chance to operate. They should have made it a lot more serious to drum home the message.

FoxRedBitch · 16/02/2020 08:21

I also felt they gave his dad a really hard time, you can't physically be with them every second.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 16/02/2020 08:22

So when Dylan was updating Ethan on what had been going on while he was away, he mentioned how sad it was that Mason died, but didn't even mention Duffy?
