The thread is full.

The virus is spreading will Holby be ok?!

surely she would have been retired by now if it was 40 years

Not necessarily - she could have started nursing at around 17 or 18.

Extracurricularfatigue · 08/02/2020 10:08

Yes, she had a brain haemorrhage after another stroke.

I was also waiting for someone to mention her children.

I welled up too after watching the old clips. Made me feel nostalgic for childhood Casualty and guessing the one who would die too. Almost no one dies in Casualty now.

DH and I still joke when we’re driving in the dark that it’s like the start of Casualty, waiting for the accident.

Squigean · 08/02/2020 14:58

They might remember her children tonight.

Wonder what Wooden Charlie will do with thier 79 bedroomed mansion now!! (With its massive dog-flap)

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2020 15:00

Thanks for that

Be nice if her kids were at their funeral

spiderlight · 08/02/2020 18:26

@Extracurricularfatigue my entire life is like the first five minutes of a classic Casualty! I'm so epically clumsy that I'm forever nearly maiming myself.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 08/02/2020 21:50

So no family at the funeral then... just some random extras who didn't even look particularly sad. The other storylines were more interesting - I was expecting the hit and run victim's mum to have a change of heart and forgive the driver, in the usual Casualty sort of way, and was pleased that they showed the more likely reality.

QueenofmyPrinces · 08/02/2020 22:50

Does anyone else have moments of fancying David???

Squigean · 08/02/2020 22:54

Yes!! Thought that exact thing just now whilst watching it!!

Squigean · 08/02/2020 22:58

That aside, I'm.sorry to say there were parts of the mourning/funeral that made me giggle. Don't think that was what they were aiming for.

The two randomers carrying the coffin (though I felt I knew the younger one, but I think he might have looked like some one on Eastenders (or was him). Writers did forget her children then!!

QueenofmyPrinces · 08/02/2020 23:02

Wasn’t the coffin carried by Dylan, the Irish doctor, the receptionist and the annoying make nurse (connie’s ex) whose name I can’t remember.

MadisonAvenue · 08/02/2020 23:03

That was the Gavin and Stacey church wasn't it?
I thought that the lack of family was really poor.

MadisonAvenue · 08/02/2020 23:05

I saw Dylan, Jacob and the receptionist whose name escapes me but couldn't make out the fourth person.

LittleCandle · 08/02/2020 23:07

It was a pretty tedious episode. Noel doesn't look strong enough to lift his mug of tea/coffee, never mind a coffin. And why wasn't there a minister? Robin was pathetic not getting out of the car. Overall, there wasn't enough going on to engage my attention properly. Interesting that the script writers forgot about Duffy's sons. Don't they have a bible for Casualty?

Oulu · 08/02/2020 23:07

Can anyone remember the state of Charlie's relationship with his son? I can't remember whether it was amicable or not - if it was, it's distinctly odd that he hasn't been around to support Charlie.

Squigean · 08/02/2020 23:10

Oh dear, I spotted Noel and Jacob carrying the coffin. Think I need to go back to the opticians!!

Squigean · 08/02/2020 23:13

So I recognised the 'younger one' because it was Will?

Oh dear.

I'll get my coat ...

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 08/02/2020 23:16

Yep I did this. Dylan, Noel, Jacob and Will carrying coffin. But Will has been in it for about 5 minutes and barely knew Duffy?! Also Charlie deciding at the last minute to drive by the hospital and them all being outside, I don't know what was worse, the fact he did that or the fact all the staff on shift were outside!!

Councilworker · 08/02/2020 23:17

Charlie's son Louis is also in New Zealand I think. Possibly with his grandchild as well. As far as Casualty goes Duffy seems to have been the only person ever to come back from NZ!

IslaMann · 08/02/2020 23:19

Duffy has easily got in 40 years secvice, tho not all in NHS, as PPs have said she went to NZ for quite some years. I'm 48 and have just got my 30years service award, and with the changes to the pension age, could easily hit 50years before I die take my pension will never be able to afford to retire

Catching up on the last couple of months.
Am a couple of episodes after Mason died.

I like the new ACP but cannot get past her being the psychiatrist girlfriend of Tom Campbell-Gore in early episodes of Holby!

Bluerussian · 08/02/2020 23:22

I was absolutely gutted to switch on this evening to realise Duffy was dead, followed by her funeral. I obviously missed the last episode, didn't think I had and will try to find it. The whole thing left me in tears.

Duffy's decline has been well portrayed and very, very moving at times; I know this is fanciful but I always harbored the hope that something else, maybe a tiny tumour, would be found and removed and she would get back to normal.

Gutted is an understatement!

Runkle · 08/02/2020 23:48

Robyn in the car was pathetic, there weren't even tears. Her sons not being there is just lazy writing. Charlie just looked overtired and ready for a nap in the church scenes. David looked v nice Blush

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 09/02/2020 08:30

Yes, I'm not sure why David has suddenly become more fanciable in this episode. Perhaps it's the lack of bum-bag.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/02/2020 08:42

I was thinking the same about David. He has the features of a model when you look closely.

Agree about sons not being there a massive oversight - and even Bill. Although he washed his hands of helping Charlie, I feel sure he would have wanted to pay his respects to Duffy.

Connie looked very stylish in that black frock she was wearing.
