Ethan has form for inappropriate romances though. The synopsis for next week seems to suggest that the Effie storyline will be ongoing. I wonder when the writers are going to remember he's meant to have Huntington's?

I really hated the new doctor and was surprised that Dylan tolerated his snitching. He's back next week as well, sadly.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/08/2019 09:36

I don’t think Dylan would tolerate his snitching. I hadn’t realised he was a DR. I thought he was work experience or something, he was pretty useless.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 25/08/2019 09:40

I didn't realise he was a doctor until virtually the end of the episode. His whole manner was just 'off' in every way.

Hollanda40 · 25/08/2019 09:46

I found last night's episode very depressing!!!! I was in tears!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 25/08/2019 10:58

@Hollanda40 - when Charlie said he hadn't left the baby's side, that got me hard.

spiderlight · 25/08/2019 10:58

The new doctor is horrible, but I think he's supposed to be. I hope he doesn't last long.

The baby storyline seemed unnecessarily upsetting, unless they were trying to raise sepsis awareness.

And how the hell do Charlie and Duffy afford that house on two nurses' salaries??

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 25/08/2019 11:00

@spiderlight, yes was thinking the same thing about their very 'naice' house. Although do remember that Charlie was married to a doctor (and didn't she die? Louis' mother) at one point, so could have inherited money from her/their marital home?

spiderlight · 25/08/2019 11:26

Ah yes, Baz! That would make sense.

rainypuddles · 25/08/2019 14:06

Charlie's lived there for years though - so he's have bought it when houses cost nothing and has probably paid the mortgage off years ago.

RedForShort · 25/08/2019 16:18

I was thinking that about Charlie and Duffy's house. Rash's parents was also gorgeous.

Mind you most houses on TV are unrealistic ti income. Unless they are supposed to be poor or struggling, or on drugs, they are then placed it a mid-terace or flat. Sometimes mind they could struggle on in a 4-bed spacious semi.

I can’t believe what that doctor did at the end!!! I don’t understand why he did it?!

It was soooooo good seeing so much of Ethan and Rash though as they are the eye candy of the show!!!!

Tonnerre · 26/08/2019 17:25

If Connie was still in charge she’d have told that new guy that no-one likes a grass.

I was amazed that Dylan didn't, it would be much more in character for him.

I don't think new guy can be replacing Archie. I think in cast terms he's the temporary stand-in for Connie. He will either crash and burn, or realise the error of his ways and go on to the next stage of his training miraculously reformed by his spell in A&E.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 26/08/2019 17:34

I think Connie will be back at some point.

purpleme12 · 26/08/2019 18:30

Yes I do think it wasn't like Dylan not to come back at the new doctor actually

bakedbeanzontoast · 26/08/2019 19:47

I didn't mind the new guy till he stabbed Rash in the back. It was a poor episode, the baby thing was really depressing. I hope they don't drag Effie out as I'm finding her supremely annoying 😬

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 27/08/2019 07:17

I recognise the actress who plays Effie from somewhere. Anyone got any ideas? She wasn't in the second series of The Missing was she?

purpleme12 · 27/08/2019 07:26

She was in The Missing

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/08/2019 08:08

I think I’m going to give casualty a miss for a while. The writing is so weak and makes no sense.

PlaceYourItemInTheBaggingArea · 27/08/2019 19:52

I was also surprised that Dylan didn't wipe the floor with Dr Grass. Silly little snivelling turdball, he'll get what's coming to him.

Ethan, boring. Move up Manchester to Alicia please.

Floods of tears with the baby storyline, hit me in the hurts! 😭

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/08/2019 22:42

Behind as usual

Poor Ethan. He does suffer !!

Abillity2019 · 31/08/2019 22:50

Duffy will be running the care home by next week won’t she.

JeNeBaguetteRien · 31/08/2019 23:37

Charlie and Duffy's (Chuffy's?) House is nice but that red tablecloth really doesn't go with the rest of the kitchen!

Why was the home manager asking Duffy not to report, the hospital staff would need to report.

Do not like that new doctor, what a pillock.

Tonnerre · 01/09/2019 10:40

Actually, that was about the first time I've seen them do something sensible with the dementia storyline: the point about seeing the person behind the dementia was a very valid one.

But why are the children of the staff at Holby always so annoying?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 02/09/2019 07:46

The first few episodes of this series have made me realise that the only characters I really like atm are the paramedics, and they were barely in Saturday's episode.

I am clinging on to my Dylan love although have realised I love him far more when he's snarking at the back of the class rather than trying to run the show.

New guy is a tool and needs to leave.

Ethan needs NOT to fall in love with his patient who also happens to be his friend's terminally ill daughter Hmm
