I'm getting a bit fed up with the "Duffy is a superhuman" thread of the storyline. She can literally do no wrong and is the most perfect nurse EVAH but after all the years of playing her, Cathy Shipton is still unconvincing as an authority figure.

RedForShort · 02/09/2019 09:10

Yes, and the nursing home will.score excellent across the board within a fortnight!

This week's episode seemed extra especially silly. I actually can't recall the exact scence but there was a point (near the end) I actual laughed at it.

What I found completely ridiculous was:

  1. The patients notes from the home were casually handed over to Duffy when she asked to see them even though she was a volunteer. What happened to confidentiality??

  2. They were in a very thin file yet somehow Duffy managed to fall upon information that said the women had lost a baby when she was younger, whereas numerous staff who have known her for years and have probably read her notes and written in them a 100 times over had never spotted it themselves Hmm

It’s just ridiculous!

Duffy is doing my bloody head in!!!

RedForShort · 02/09/2019 14:45

Just recalled what I found funny (but not in a gd way!!)

It was when whats-it from holby came out and said about the broken sternum.

Eliot's mum going through great angst that this was somehow her fault (this made no sense- why did the broken sternum make it angst worthy, when his near drowning hadn't),

Then David expressing greater angst that it was his fault (at this point I had expect him.to ask - why what did you do to him that makes him think you broke his sternum?). David then confessing it was because he gave CPR - how what a great horror he is gaining cpr to a person with no pulse!!!

The mum's boyfriend then roboticaly saying correct me If I'm wrong but you had to, to saved his life.

All is instantly well with the world so they walk off.

I couldn't care less about any of the staff's difficult teenagers. The stroppy kids of Elle/Jacob, Connie, Charlie, and David need to not be in any future storylines. Talking of Elle, where is she? I thought she'd turned down the job elsewhere, and now Connie's not around it would seem like an obvious move to bring her back.

Tonnerre · 03/09/2019 00:06

The staff's tedious teenagers are constantly turning up at their parents' workplace and demanding attention, and then acting all injured because parent is selfish enough to put their jobs and saving people's lives ahead of dropping everything to listen to whatever their child is whinging about. I'm glad to say I've never once worked anywhere where people's children felt able just to wonder in and demand their parents' instant attention, and it's not as if I've ever worked anywhere as pressured as and A&E department.

Tonnerre · 03/09/2019 00:06

an A&E department, not and.

Runkle · 03/09/2019 00:26

It annoyed me that the Care Home Manager said something like the doll looking silly. There's been well publicised research about the use of dolls/pets etc with dementia so how would someone in the care sector not know that/advocate it?! The writing is so contrived and lazy.
The broken sternum is clearly so David can have a spiral Hmm
Does anyone else think there's a hint of anger issues with the new Dr, Mason? The way he was acting and punching his fist slowly into the other hand..v odd.

AlliKaneErikson · 03/09/2019 01:20

The bridge/river scenes were filmed just around the corner from my house but we were on holiday on the days they were filming so missed it all!

bakedbeanzontoast · 03/09/2019 09:57

Glad it's not only me who finds the offspring annoying 😬😬😬

CaptainHammer · 03/09/2019 11:19

father Elle left at the end of May. She didn’t take the other job but didn’t want to stay at the ED either.

The children are all annoying!

purpleme12 · 07/09/2019 21:10

It's pissing me off that Rash did that bet

FatherFintanFay · 07/09/2019 21:34

Dr Reede is the absolute worst. What's he supposed to be for?

Nice to see Dixie again. On balance, Jan is still my favourite paramedic though - I found out recently that she played the character in the first series of The Thick of It who was known only as Piss Woman. She has such a great voice!

purpleme12 · 07/09/2019 21:38

Yes he's horrible I hate him

PrincessandthePeach · 07/09/2019 22:20

Am I the only one who thought that when the mum and son were running to see the kid who got out of theatre a car was gonna come and run them down? 😳 I'm terrible lol

purpleme12 · 07/09/2019 22:47

No I didn't think that!

purpleme12 · 07/09/2019 22:48

But at the end I think it was trying to insinuate that Will thought Archie trashed his car wasn't it? But I don't think she did

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 08/09/2019 10:02

I think Archie did trash the car. Think she's turned into a covert vigilante/justice warrior.

Agree that I cannot believe that Rash entered into a bet. The new F1 just seems very 'wooden'. I suspect there will be a reason why he is as he is, then we may become more sympathetic towards him.

purpleme12 · 08/09/2019 10:09

Mmm I'm not sure I'll be more sympathetic towards him

FatherFintanFay · 08/09/2019 10:16

That business at the beginning where he pretended he'd just been for a run was seriously odd. And yes, he's weirdly wooden. I wonder if he's meant to be like that or if the actor just isn't very good?

purpleme12 · 08/09/2019 10:31

There's no forgiving getting Rash into trouble by lying if you ask me

If Archie did trash the car well I just think it's not her character. I guess we'll see

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 08/09/2019 11:08

The trauma of what happened with Connie might have just tipped Archie over the edge. Remember Charles Bronson's character in the famous vigilante thriller 'Death Wish' - I rest my case.

Yes, agree about Rash. Hasn't he now been in trouble twice since Dr Reede arrived. Want Gem back to be fighting in his corner!

purpleme12 · 08/09/2019 11:31

I don't know that film

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 08/09/2019 11:46

@purpleme12 it's a classic albeit a violent one... Charles Bronson's character is a cop whose wife has been raped/murdered. He goes on a killing (shooting) spree to wipe out all of those implicated.

Clearly Archie isn't going that far (yet anyway), but it looks as if she's going out of her way to ensure that the good are protected and the bad are punished.

WelcomeToGreenvale · 08/09/2019 19:25

So good to see Dixie again. I want her back full time (with wife and kid of course, a relationship that actually stood the test of time! Wow!)
