When is it back? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would be back in April. Does anyone have any theories about the storyline or characters?

The AC12 triumvirate comprising Hastings, Arnott and Fleming will definitely be back.

What about Roz Huntley? and her rather drippy DH ?

Wil Nige feature? and will we find out how and why Maneet was being blackmailed by Hilton?

I can't wait, frankly.

I did the same at the "Van full of H".

My favourite tweet: "The only bit that didn't ring true was when he asked for a screwdriver and his henchmen didn't ask "flathead or phillips"

AlphaSigma · 01/04/2019 18:11

Just watched it. Ye gods I wasn't expecting that ending.

I pray that Ted is not H. I couldn't bear it.

Triglesoffy · 01/04/2019 18:18

I don’t agree with the Harry H Corbett theory. Surely Ronnie would be more appropriate? However? In RL the old man Steptoe was an very unsavoury character so maybe JM is referencing that.

Yes. They obviously planned it

browneyes77 · 01/04/2019 18:23

I’m so late to the party on this!

Great first episode! I was like “eh??” when she said it was a man not a woman who was undercover!

I thought Maneet was going to get shot in the back of the head. I did not expect the ending she got

Me too! I though he was carrying a gun and they were just going to shoot her in the head, so it took me by surprise when the knife came out!!

DappledThings · 01/04/2019 18:28

I found a passport today and handed it in at our local police station. They sent an officer out to say hello to my 3 year old and then took us all the way through the station to let him sit in a big riot van and pretend to drive it.

It took all my resolve not to mention how excited I was because it was just like LoD!

Piggywaspushed · 01/04/2019 18:29

The throat slitting is a reference to the death of Jackie in s1, I expect.

Just thought I would sound knowledgeable. Nods sagely.

Clawdy · 01/04/2019 18:35

Harry H Corbett.....or Ronnie Corbett.....or the other Harry Corbett with Sooty and Sweep! Grin

Piggy you come across with great gravitas and wisdom.Grin

Ted Hastings is NOT a man who does his own cleaning. He's not being sexist, but that's a job for women. He irons though, as he likes it done properly.

And that is why he stays in a travelodge.

We don't know that Corbett is the head of the OCG - he could just be the boss of those few people, so a little cell of heavies.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/04/2019 19:51

TheSpottedZebra yes, you're probably correct. The head will probably be a 'white-collar' criminal of the Jimmy Lakewell ilk.

Piggywaspushed · 01/04/2019 19:53

Thanks OP ! Grin

Wingedharpy · 01/04/2019 19:55

I didn't think that Maneet's cousin from Dudley, did have a position of great responsibility.
I thought that he was a lay person in the police equivalent of the packing department.
Was his job not to shift the drugs from wherever they were stored and pack them in the van ready for despatch ?
Line of duty's equivalent of Kirk in Corrie.

I wonder if possible female undercover cop is, in fact, working for AC12, ie reporting to Ted, gathering Intel on John and that is why Ted is coming across as a bit shifty.

Pomegranatepompom · 01/04/2019 19:55

I’ve been trying to find people to talk to about this all day at work, great thread !

I’m rewatching series 4 to try and get some insight Grin
Poor Maneet, really liked her, feels very out of character and vv naive for her to approach the gang despite her bond with her cousin.

Sorry not insightful at all !

Piggywaspushed · 01/04/2019 19:59

Just read The Times review in which the no doubt highly educated (but not in Geography) and no doubt NOT Northern Irish Carol Midgeley quotes Ted as saying ' I didn't float up the lagoon in a bubble' Confused

You'd think someone at The Times would've spotted that!

She must be getting rather a lot of Tweets...

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/04/2019 20:00

Still think it's likely to be someone in 'Serious Crime Squad' who's able to tip off OCG. The AC12 lot only become aware once the leaks have occurred, don't they?

greenpop21 · 01/04/2019 20:17

OMG, what a cracker of a first episode! they don't hang around do they? Straight in!

Hepzibar · 01/04/2019 20:32

There must be some significance in Serious Crime duo keep making an appearance. Suspect Steve's ex being involved and try to rope him in to helping her when it all goes tits up for her

AndromedaPerseus · 01/04/2019 20:54

Corbett is a deeply conflicted soul with his tortured stares and drinking Tellingly he said to Manet “he hates most a bent cop who is pretending not to be bent”. I think he had Manet killed in case she led AC12 to him. He’s definitely rogue as he’s ok to kill a fellow officer in contrast to Lise not being able to kill the women cop at the beginning i I think she is UCO sent to investigate Corbett

CoolCarrie · 01/04/2019 20:59

We don’t know , but , Corbett could have been in the gang all though the four previous series’ and killing Maneet was him covering his own arse.

pepperpot99 · 01/04/2019 20:59

I've looked at the IMDB page for next week at his female partner Steph Corbett is in it. (Rubbing hands in glee emoticon).

Susan Vidler - Alison - is an established actress (she was the heroin mum in Trainspotting and is married to Alastair MacKenzie from Monarch of the Glen) so expect to see some more of her.

Soverytiredofeverythinggoingon · 01/04/2019 21:47

I'm seriously wondering now that Kate is bent, hence her fast track promotion?

AndromedaPerseus · 01/04/2019 22:23

It’s like the best whodunnits where everyone has a plausible motive to be the main suspect
