Anyone watching the new series?

It's jumping the shark with Karen:Adam. So much like Friends....
But then. One of the women outside the original seem to have worked....

Anyone that was friends with Adam would avoid him like the plague- he’s hopeless at relationships!

I hated myself for thinking it, but Nesbitt looked more attractive in last night's episode than he did at the start of the series. Maybe I'm coming down with a temperature too!

Re Nesbitt/Adam seeming more attractive, is it that we’re seeing him from Karen’s changing perspective and she’s very relatable and reliable....or something?

I thought Karen basically said to Adam it was time he grew up.
And so he did

I'm really enjoying this series. But Karen and Adam together - nooooo! They are so wrong for each other.

They’d engineered it so we were rooting for them to get together at the end of that episode. I hate myself for it!

I can understand what Adam would see in Karen but I'm struggling with what he brings to her. It would be like having another child. Surely Karen deserves a nice, capable, grown-up partner for a change? I was also looking forward to seeing activist Karen
But I'm enjoying this series. David and Jenny's storylines have been very well-handled.

I too have never seen what the fuss about James Nesbitt is but it is surely a credit to the writing of this series that he’s becoming more attractive as the series goes on.

I don’t like Adam’s looks or personality. Just don’t get it. Makes me cringe when he’s playing the whole ladies man part! Awful. And Karen is just so fab. She could have her pick. Just no him, please! It must be very odd for them as actors to have to now play love interests to each other after all this time!

Yes, Karen could so so much better than that old bore!

This is a loved up Cold Feet thread? I'm gripped but I feel like it's as much as nostalgia thing as anything else. I find Karen sinister. Am I the only one?

Sinister? I can't say I've thought that about her! In what way?

Karen is kind of aloof. I like that. I don't find her sinister though!

Although if one of them were to be revealed as having worked as an assassin all these years I would expect it to be her!

Well there's a reason Hermione Norris played the recent part she did on Luther!

I aspire to be as sinister/sophisticated/contained/capable as Karen
I read an interview where the cast said they did find the Karen/Adam storyline a surprise. iirc they said they've played the characters for so long that they feel like they know them and sometimes that's as odds with the writers' views of the characters.
I think Adam's rehabilitation has been too fast. He's spent lots of seasons being a lothario and about 2 episodes trying to be a grown-up? And even then he was still dating someone!

Oh I haven't seen Luther. but I remember her as Ros on Spooks. She killed many people on a weekly basis.

Loved Jen - she is playing her part really well. Just getting on with things. And yes, I loved the choir scene. Was very moving - I usually cry at the end of the show, not the start.

Not sure about Adam with Karen though. It's not going to end well - surely?

Am pleased though that David is now safe and back in the circle. I wonder if anything will come out about the £20 from last episode.

David gave Adam the £20 at the BBQ Lego, admitted he had taken in and Adam said “you are giving it back so you borrowed it”

I love David. He makes me laugh more than any of the others. I like his quite ferocious second wife too.

DH and I are loving this series.

Adam is definitely getting better looking as they’ve deliberately made him look more his age. There was a scene early in the series where he was in the bathroom with his bottle of hair dye and Matt was making fun of him. Since the barista incident he’s been going more natural. That makes him looking older but better IMHO.

I think he went out with Caitlin as he does want to move away from the younger women and I think with all of them the Jen situation has made them re-evaluate life.

Im the same age as them, and their issues do resonate. I know pp,are moaning about the breast cancer, but I know so many women affected by this, but none from other cancers interestingly. The bigger boob would not have been a warning for me, so a good take on it. I see why Jen kept it quiet at first.

I cried at the choir. Agree, Fay Ripley is usually hugely annoying but is fab in this.

It was really brief Lego.

Does anyone remember the scene from years ago when Adam had taken baby Matt to a baby music class and just didn't cope at all? Funniest tv I've seen in years, dh and I still laugh about it now.
