Anyone watching the new series?

OP posts:

@MissLadyM I think she once had a thing for him and they may have kissed, but that was as far as it went.

jigsawmaniac · 19/02/2019 10:35

Just rewatched all the old ones alongside this new series. Quite liking James Nesbitt the older he gets! Though thought I'd try watching him in something else but just keep seeing him as Adam! I also quite like him and Karen together. Hope there's another series; really enjoyed this one, more than the ones when they first brought it back.

Italiangreyhound · 19/02/2019 10:52

I think Jenny was just jealous. I don't like her character at all. But obviously being very ill is going to heighten emotions. I thought Jenny and Pete both behaved appallingly and Pete isn't like that.

Italiangreyhound · 19/02/2019 10:52

I loved the Jeremy Kyle scene.

ChristineBaskets · 19/02/2019 11:17

I found the Jeremy Kyle scene funny. The rest was daft, like it always is, but I keep watching for old time's sake. Tbh I never understand the reactions or motivations of any of the characters and roll my eyes and cringe through every episode.

mnahmnah · 19/02/2019 13:41

I also loved the Jeremy Kyle sequence! But when Pete went round to Adam’s house after that, I thought it was because he realised that he needed to get over it and apologise. In fact he was even angrier! I could totally understand Pete and Jenny getting the ick about it, but not all the vitriol. I kept wondering if i’d missed something that justified their reaction. David’s reaction is understandable I think. And the kids

saveyourkissesforme · 19/02/2019 13:46

Yep agree. The reaction was a bit over the top.

Really enjoyed the series though. Very watchable. Bring it back.

WinnieFosterTether · 19/02/2019 15:14

I wondered if their reaction was because they felt they'd have to choose between their friends? So the group they've relied on over the years is going to split because David won't want to be around Karen and Adam.

Plus they probably thought it was the worst time for Karen and Adam to decide to get together. It's a point when the group would usually rally round Jen (because of her diagnosis) and David (being homeless, no job, etc) yet Karen and Adam completely upset the dynamic.

Adam reminds me of one of my male friends. If one of the women in our group suddenly started dating him, I'd probably also worry that everything I'd said in confidence might seem under threat.

I hate Karen and Adam together. It's only been an episode and already Karen seems to have lost her poise, composure and sassiness. Boo!

dogsdinnerlady · 19/02/2019 15:45

Never, ever anywhere in real life would there be such a bunch of self-obsessed, infantilised, irritating narcissists all living within a few yards of each other. This show has run on for 25 years too long in my view.

Italiangreyhound · 19/02/2019 16:24

dogsdinnerlady why do you watch it?

Susiesoap7 · 19/02/2019 16:58

Disappointed with last episode, but I really don't like Jenny very much.

OrangeJuiceandLemonade · 19/02/2019 18:43

I thought the Jeremy Kyle scene was Genius!

They all seem to gloss over the fact David has been married and divorced since Karen.

Also Adam has been in Singapore- going to marry Angela. I mean ffs they haven't been that close knit since Rachel died.

OrangeJuiceandLemonade · 19/02/2019 18:44

Oh and Pete married and divorced Jo.

Jenny has Grant's child.

They really haven't all been great mates at all!

mum2jakie · 19/02/2019 19:27

That's true. I'd forgotten that Adam had supposedly been living abroad for years when the series re-started. Definitely a shit storyline then!

Italiangreyhound · 19/02/2019 19:37

If i were Adam I'd have been royally pissed off that having found a meaningful relationship my friends wanted to nobble it! Or something like that.

Violetroselily · 19/02/2019 19:55

The Jeremy Kyle scene was great

gower4 · 19/02/2019 22:29

Really disappointed with this series. I don't think Adam and Karen would get together in a million years. There's never been a hint of chemistry between them until the last four episodes or so!

DameSquashalot · 19/02/2019 23:39

@Honeyroar I hope your friend is ok x

Honeyroar · 19/02/2019 23:57

@DameSquashalot Thank you.

dogsdinnerlady · 20/02/2019 08:06

Italian..not sure really. It just gives me something to moan about on MN apart from DH/DCs/everything else Grin.

Romcomjunkie · 20/02/2019 17:15

It just all happened way too quickly. There should have been two more episodes imo - a slower burn. And the script could have been a bit better. If Jenny had actually said ‘this is the time you should be supporting me but instead you’re copping off with each other’ her reaction would have been more understandable.

Azzizam · 21/02/2019 19:07

Bring back Sean Pertwee I say. I'd fight Karen for him and give her Adam on a plate!

millimat · 21/02/2019 23:28

Well I've loved this series. Last week's episode was fab. This one was a little disappointing.
Faye Ripley has been brilliant recently. I hope it's back with another one - what will happen to Jen?

Butterfly005 · 21/02/2019 23:41

I agree!

mnahmnah · 22/02/2019 07:26

Ooh Sean Pertwee! Not seen him in anything recently so he must be available. Returns to rival Adam. Karen has to make a tough decision. While we all cheer on Sean Pertwee at home....
