Anyone watching the new series?

I spent a whole week thinking 'FFS I hope they don't go there with Karen and Adam'...and then was really disappointed when Paul Kaye and Eve Myles materialised (although I love Eve Myles in general).

millimat · 08/02/2019 19:45

I'm loving this series. Who's eve myles?

southeastdweller · 08/02/2019 19:46

Adam’s new girlfriend.

Just found this thread. I had thought that this series was not good, but the last episode really seemed to gel everything together and it seemed more like the original set of series.

I don't think Karen and Adam are a good fit, and have always thought David a total snob/knob, but am feeling quite sorry for him now!

Charlie1978 · 08/02/2019 19:52

Anyone see Jenny’s bunny sweatshirt with the red tail on this weeks episode, looking everywhere and can’t locate???

notsurewhatshappening · 09/02/2019 15:39

Also looking for Jen's sweatshirt. I'd live to be as elegant as Karen as she has gorgeous clothes but my style is much more Jenny really 😀

ConfCall · 11/02/2019 17:03

I think that Karen and Adam will get together at the end of this series. Adam and Caitlin had very little chemistry (deliberate, I think) and Karen will conclude that she can't be a vicar's wife, so the relationship is moribund. They'll then seek out each other.

Fay Ripley is incredible. I think that her nuanced portrayal of a woman with breast cancer might seriously save lives, it'll get viewers checking and talking.

Poor David, but another excellent and subtle storyline.

Cherrypie32 · 11/02/2019 21:16

Seriously, I don’t think Fay Ridley was even acting at the choir, she was crying like the rest of us. Such a moving moment.

darksideofthemooncup · 11/02/2019 21:17

I've never really taken to Fay Ripley before now, but my god she is a fine actress. She has had me in tears tonight already

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/02/2019 21:36

Sorry but this photo shoot is reminding me of Tootsie!

CloudPop · 11/02/2019 21:52

I've forgotten the story line with Chloe - Grant - can anyone remind me ?

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/02/2019 22:00

She's the daughter of the guy Jenny was with after she and Pete divorced IIRC. Jenny showed up hugely pregnant with her at Rachel's funeral.

And damnit, I don't know how they did it but I was rooting for Karen to return to Adam at the end!

Honeyroar · 11/02/2019 22:02

I cried at Jenny in the choir too.

Poor David. He's just felt like his friends have helped him back on his feet and then he'll have the curved ball of his best friend getting together with his ex wife!

PrincessScarlett · 11/02/2019 22:03

Robert Webb played Grant. Jen had a fling with him. Pete always knew Chloe wasn't his but he was willing to bring her up as his own. Grant came back last series and dropped the bombshell on Chloe but he was such a man child he decided he couldn't cope with the responsibility of being a dad after all.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 11/02/2019 22:03

They have really nailed this series. That was another top notch episode.

The choir, David, Chloe’s letter. Very moving moments.

Jungfraujoch · 11/02/2019 22:06

Omg so emotional! Fay Ripley is just outstanding!

purpleme12 · 11/02/2019 22:17

Even though they were hinting towards Karen and Adam I still was surprised when it happened

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/02/2019 22:20

@PrincessScarlett You're right, I'd completely forgotten Robert Webb was in it!

Redshoeblueshoe · 11/02/2019 22:21

The choir was so moving

Romcomjunkie · 11/02/2019 22:27

Yes, Purple, I didn’t think it would be quite so quick!

mnahmnah · 11/02/2019 22:32

Nooo! My eyes! My eyyyyes! Can’t handle Adam and Karen together. Just wrong Blush

Brilliant episode though

StarJumpsandaHalf · 11/02/2019 22:34

Lump in my throat too.

I'm all over the place, rooting for David, scared for Jen, worrying now over Charlie, Chloé and the adoption request, the kids doing exams.

Loving it and have a new appreciation for Fay Ripley with all the light and shade she's bringing. The author photoshoot was so Jen and good fun to balance the serious issues.

I'm a fan of Paul Ritter too from No Offence, so it's nice to see him in something else on prime time.

HollowTalk · 11/02/2019 23:20

Oh I'm crying too at the choir. She's fantastic.

David's situation is so moving. How many people do we know that we could live with for months while we got ourselves sorted out?

Calloway · 11/02/2019 23:40

Adam's Welsh girlfriend was so irritating. But she was equally irritating (to me) in that programme on BBC about the missing husband. Glad to see the back of her.

Not a fan of Adam and Karen getting together. Have never really understood Adam as this irresistible lothario. He is Mr Middle of the Road.

LaLaLamp · 12/02/2019 00:05

I think Adam looked a bit George Clooney-is at times. I would Grin
