Why cant David get a job? I cant remember but i thought he was highly qualified.

WinnieFosterTether · 30/01/2019 07:52

Didn't he get caught up in a fraud in the last series?

Loopytiles · 30/01/2019 08:08

I think it’s David’s age too, ageism.

Agree that Karen is way too good for “shagnasty” Adam!

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 30/01/2019 09:18

He did Winnie, didn’t he even end up on remand. Even though he was cleared and released, that coupled with his age is likely to go against him.

He was 8 or 10 years older than Karen, who was a similar age to the rest of the group. The others are now 50ish, so David must be knocking on for 60. A lot of very senior corporate management jobs (board jobs, ‘c suite’ type jobs) are gained and held by men in their 50’s, so in theory, David could be looking at CFO or FD type roles but his spell on remand for white collar offences probably aren’t going in his favour.

[reading too much into it emoticon]

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 30/01/2019 09:20

Sorry, that should say ‘held by men in their 50’s with a finance background’

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/01/2019 15:59

Was David always this inept though? Not sure how he got to be such a finance high-flyer originally if he was like this but I guess the right school and knowing the right people will get you far in that field!

I was sorry to see O'BrianNicky go as Siobhan Finneran is great!

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 30/01/2019 16:39

In the early series, David was definitely the most successful of them all.

Loopytiles · 31/01/2019 12:20

He was socially inept but successful at work.

SuperSuperSuper · 31/01/2019 17:47

Fay Ripley is nailing this. She's obv done her homework and the writing is good too.

I sensed chemistry between Adam and Karen and i know a fair few middle aged divorced people who've got together with friends, so I dint find it far fetched. Adam's behaviour with very young women has been grim, but he's a nice bloke, loves his son, intelligent, financially secure - and has realised that he was foolish.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 04/02/2019 21:20

Ooh David.

aleC4 · 04/02/2019 22:01

It was a really good episode tonight, vintage Cold Feet.

Hazlulu · 04/02/2019 22:10

I agree. I almost gave up after the first episode (and I love Cold Feet) but the last few episodes have seen a real return to form.

However, I've spent the week coming around to a Karen/Adam relationship so now I'm disappointed that Eve Myles/Paul Kaye have turned up! Yet at the same time I love Paul Kaye; I feel conflicted!

madasamarchhare · 04/02/2019 22:17

Really enjoyed tonight’s episode, definitely like original cold feet. Both Jen and David have had me in tears tonight. You could feel his desperation at no clothes, no food, nowhere safe to sleep. Jen is playing her part fantastically as a pp has said she obviously did her research into this.

2019Dancerz · 04/02/2019 22:23

I just want David to go to one of his friends - they might be annoyed but they wouldn't want him on the streets fgs! And then he could focus on getting a job. He should go back to his rich gf, amazed he hasn't.

legolimb · 04/02/2019 22:35

I was shouting at the screen telling David to go and ask one of his friends for help.

Aargh.. I hope his situation doesn't get any worse

PrincessScarlett · 04/02/2019 22:55

I've always loved David. He's never quite fitted into the gang and he's such a closed book the others are too busy with their own dramas to realise he's in crisis. He's unintentionally funny but is pure brilliance when he's vulnerable David. He had me in tears tonight.

I think Karen will go helping the homeless with Paul Kaye and stumble across David in a shelter.

papayasareyum · 04/02/2019 22:59

I just love this series. I don’t know who’s writing it, but it’s exactly right. Wonderful acting, great script, absolutely brilliant stuff

WendyCope · 04/02/2019 23:33

Also loved it.

purpleme12 · 05/02/2019 00:27

Made me cry :-(

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 05/02/2019 07:45

Made me realise too how believable Pete & Jenny are as a couple.

David - too proud to ask for help, (too proud to admit he needs help) is very moving too.

wingardium8 · 05/02/2019 11:49

I normally just lurk but had to say how amazingly I think Faye Ripley is playing this. I was diagnosed with (a different) cancer just over a year ago and it's like watching my own feelings played out on screen. Keeping it to herself for a bit, telling her husband... I'm holding back the tears at every point.
She's brilliant. Although, I could perhaps do with a bit more of the funny bits of the show now - it can be a bit of a harrowing watch...

StormyLovesOdd · 05/02/2019 14:00

Wingardium8 - I agree, Faye is playing out every emotion perfectly, both her and the writers have done a brilliant job.

I had breast cancer a few years ago and this show has brought every thought and emotion back to me, its hard to watch sometimes but brilliantly done and it if reminds a few women to check themselves then all the better.

OrangeJuiceandLemon · 05/02/2019 14:03

Stunning episode. So well done. Interesting that David actually swiped the money from Adams kitchen Shock

It was a split second do i imagine lots of viewers will miss it.

I guess new girlfriend and/or Matt will get the blame.

purpleme12 · 05/02/2019 14:09

I don't think viewers will miss it no I think it was obvious

I think he'll blame girlfriend and that'll kick off a load of trouble can see it coming!!

2019Dancerz · 05/02/2019 14:12

New gf was in Torchwood - took me a while to recognise her, she looks very different
