A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the Kdrama-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, but the more seriously addicted have other sources, including dramabus. I realise I should really zip it. It probably feels like I’m pissing on your chips, but its so funny how some of us love something and it leaves others cold.

I do like crazy manager Bong’s secret romance with man of few words, driver Yang. 👍 I’m not completely without a heart.

Oh it’s all good, there’s something for everyone etc etc and I do get the points you make. There are some dramas like Goblin that everyone raves about but just didn’t do it for me 😆

Aargh! Must. Go. To. Bed. It doesn’t matter if my Christmas guests get a lesser dinner offering and a slightly less shiny house, right?

Boatyardblues... I get what you're saying,.. When I started down this rabbit hole of kdrama I found all the wrist grabbing... Pinning to walls... Declarations / demands of relationships all a little questionable... But.... In context... Culturally and recognising I'm looking at this with western eyes I sort of "accept" (for want of a better word ...)... And usually... The story flips and it all comes out in the wash... There's a reason?... Or things are explained? Or there is redemption...
Probably not making too much sense here... As it's still early!...
Only watched half hour "my love from the star" last night as I was sooooo tired! Think all those late nights are really catching up on me!! I so want to watch more but no time!

I found the “if you come in, I won’t be able to stop” scene uncomfortable TBH, but the recent coverage of Natalie Connolly/John Broadhurst verdict is on my mind. I’ve been watching carefully and Sec Kim is most often passive and/or submissive in most of their scenes together, so I find their relationship too unbalanced for my liking.

A question: is the Viki bookmarking really erratic? Whenever I go back in, it drops me somewhere random in the series. Trying to work out if its something I’m doing wrong.

Oddly that has happened to me a couple of times this weekend, usually the watch history function works fine

Thanks Betty. I am all done with Secretary Kim now. He looked much better in the final scenes with his fringe swept back. I start to see the appeal. I will try PSJ is something else where his character doesn’t make my palms itch so much.

No PSJ on viki /netflix.. Except Hwarang (netflix)... But hwarang is a bit ludicrous and silly... But again... Strangely compelling!... And I remember Bettys saying the FL acts with her chin!... Which is true and a little annoying!... But in terms of bromance and skullduggery... It's great fun!... Though PSJ is not his most handsome in it (as, surely, that is the reason we're watching!.?)... But PHS is yummy!... And there's always "that guy from BTS"! 😂😂😂... And it has got my most favourite final end scene ever in terms of warm and fuzzies!....
Its such a shame Fight for My Way isn't on Viki or Netflix... She was Pretty is also really good fun!
May I suggest Weightlifting Fairy Kim bok joo on viki for lighthearted warm and cosy if you haven't seen it?... It's proper luvrrly!!

Ha ha ha ha! I was also going to suggest my love stars...!... It's great fun!... I know the towel! 😂😂😂... It's got great snow scenes in and Christmas trees! So it can be our festive kdrama for the holiday period!... Though I'm getting through it really slowly due to other distractions!... Interacting with the relatives! 🙄🤔... Blooming Christmas!!

Fight For My Way is worth seeking out though.

All done with Bride of the Water God which was fun but not addictive enough to keep me up at night. Reckon NJH filmed it straight after WLFKBJ as he still had the amazing swimming bod.

Now for a 2nd look at You from the Stars as I don’t remember the shower scene at all - it’s a perfectly valid reason, right?

Only 6ish minutes in to ep 1. You won’t have to watch much.

I’m doing the 10 minute shuffle on Viki to find my next boxset. The basic premise of When Time Stopped caught my eye. I will report back. Liking it so far.

Oooh I'll take a look at that. Am also downloading You From The Stars on Netflix in case I have to resort to my phone what with having to cook & be sociable & in case wifi gets slow.

I didn’t realise you could download content from Netflix. Mind. Blown. 🤯 I don’t think I should though. I have so much food prep to do tomorrow & then hostessing with the mostessing.

Netflix download to phone is v handy for when there’s no WiFi, you’re stuck waiting somewhere, on a train/plane or at a dodgy film/concert or in bed/waiting for the dog to pee. That’s the beauty of subtitles too, you don’t need sound or headphones

I have already planned to download Kingdom (sageuk zombie series with Bae Doona) as soon as it comes out on Netflix in January as it will be v v handy when going skiing

As for hostessing with mostessing I have promised kimbap / sushi / ramen tomorrow for our Christmas Eve dinner. It could all go horribly wrong as I have a bottle of soju hidden in the fridge 😱
