I just finished episode 3 last night. Wow, that was such good tv! I can't stop thinking about it.

Loved all of the period details... finding wife number 4 was brutal wasn't it.

I liked how Alison kept thinking of things to investigate then dealt with the sadness ... and went from relieved and exuberant to angry and bitter and everything in between.

I want to watch it again!

What a superb series. Well acted and gripping.

So one of the young men was playing Ruth's RL dad, opposite her. No pressure then!!!

Was the baby born in the series meant to be Ruth, there was a mention of a baby.

SuperSuperSuper · 19/12/2018 22:28

The baby was born to the older son Gordon in the 1960s and was called Deborah. Ruth's dad was Nigel, the younger son who went to Oxford - Ruth would have been a 1980s baby I thiink.

Yes of course, too young to be born in 60s.

Enjoyed the 60s details. Reminded me of my parent's first house

The nurse described Alexander as a "teenager" in 1916 (she nursed him in that large country house after the Battle of the Somme). He'd have been 22/23 in 1916. I'm not sure whether that was an error, or a hint that he'd shaved a few years off his age, liar that he was.

What a fascinating story!
