So Keeley Hawes was at the funeral shooting dirty looks at Mrs Wilson

At the graveside someone who knew Alex in India approached her and said :

Are you his daughter?

and she said

No I'm his wife

And he said

I'm sorry Dorothy, I didn't recognise you

Her : WHO'S DOROTHY?

Keeley Hawes goes up in the credits as Dorothy

If KH is indeed Dorothy, she's wife no 2, and RW is wife no 3.

I have a feeling that Dorothy was wife number one and that Keely Hawes is her daughter

She doesn't look much older than the oldest son we've seen so far

She could also be called Dorothy?

I also enjoyed this. For info it was filmed in Belfast!

I didn't know it was based on a true story!

KH can't be a similar age to mrs Wilson's son, as they both spoke in the ladie's room at the restaurant in 1940.

My great grandfather was a bigamist, he spent a good part of each year “working” overseas, in the same country.

A year or so after my grandfather died, my grandmother received a letter from one of his father’s descendents, who had been doing some geneology and uncovered it. My grandmother thought my grandfather would have been mortified.

The man had 12 DC in the UK and 8 with his other wife. And didn’t financially support any of them! What a dick.

Watched this tonight on catch up and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Loopytiles oh good grief. What a dreadful shock it must have been for your poor Grandmother when she got that letter. That is a LOT of children.

Yes, and sadly all of the UK DC had died by that time! Brought up in poverty and all started smoking and drinking v young, my grandfather at age 11! The overseas family seem to have lived longer.

My grandmother was mainly relieved my grandfather hadn’t received the news when he was dying.

Imagine it was more common back then, easier to get away with it.

Glad someone else was distracted by the blue colour palette. Once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it.

Apart from that, I found it very enjoyable, particularly as it is based on real life. Hope we get to find out exactly how he managed to juggle as many families concurrently. Does wife no. 4 appear next week?

I really found this interesting
I will say though if it wasn’t based on truth I would think it far fetched ....for example the son from first marriage saying his father never stayed over night .
But I guess one has to think of it in historical context .... social media would have caught him out somehow today I suspect
