@Herculesfan I thought the same, got excited when it panned out and then oh. Not southsea then Confused

Elderflower14 · 27/11/2018 22:08

The eldest son who is in the Navy gave the eulogy...

TheSpottedZebra · 27/11/2018 22:13

There weren't any speeches when the half brothers were together.

I loved it. But it was so blue, like Call The Midwife levels of blue. Although this was a bluer blue, whereas CTM tends to the teal.

So we've heard of Dorothy, and she's also clocked that she's seen Keeley Hawes' character rather a lot...

Norugratsatall · 27/11/2018 22:16

Ah! I'm confused... I thought it was Gladys's sons giving the eulogy. That'll teach me to try and follow something while writing Xmas cards and wearing the wrong glasses! Blush

LaLaLamp · 27/11/2018 22:22

which one was keeley hawes?

Greenteandchives · 27/11/2018 22:26

I think Keeley Hawks was briefly glimpsed in the first funeral congregation. Looks like she is Dorothy.

LaLaLamp · 27/11/2018 22:33

ahh yes, the one who walked out?

FawnDrench · 27/11/2018 22:34

Yes, in the cast list at the end it's Keeley Hawes who is Dorothy.

KnockMeDown · 27/11/2018 23:06

Keeley Hawes was also there right at the beginning, when Alison spilled the champagne over herself, when they first went to lunch together in 1940.

Whatjusthappenedthere · 27/11/2018 23:10

I know who Dorothy is.... flipping plot spoiler in the end credits! Confused

xsquared · 27/11/2018 23:23

Well, it looks as if Keeley Hawes is Dorothy.

lyinginthesundrinkingbubbles · 27/11/2018 23:26

Loved it!
Ruth Wilson is an amazing actress, I heard her say today how much pressure she felt playing her own grandmother.
The period details were also super.

Miscible · 28/11/2018 00:32

Why the heck has her husband got a beard ,didn't think this was allowed in the British Army then

Because he wasn't in the army?

Interesting that both wives are similar physical types.

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 01:39

I though it was brilliant. Her lips were so distracting in The Affair it put me off her but here they seem unfilled and normal. She is fantastic. I loved the putfits and deco.

We are spoiled with the tv lately. Jamie Dornan this week as well.

For historical reference, there was no point in calling an ambulance to a dead person then - ambulances were a form of transport to hospital at best offering basic bandages/splint type stuff. You just called your doctor to come and certify death.

There wasn't even a co-ordinated 999 ambulance response in London until 1965.
NHS national Paramedic training started in 1986.

So, KH is wife three - what was she doing in the restaurant? Guessing she was following her errant husband.

It also made me wonder how many people, post war, actually had the skills to fake documents, worked for SOE etc and how they just went back to normal everyday jobs.

troodiedoo · 28/11/2018 18:07

Thanks for info @Weezol

Cocolepew · 28/11/2018 22:15

I loved it, great cast.

PawneeParksDept · 28/11/2018 22:17

Watched this tonight.

To think it's her own ancestry!

Fascinating

PawneeParksDept · 28/11/2018 22:19

Keeley Hawes was credited as Dorothy Wick so she is indeed Dorothy, but apparently not another Mrs Wilson

ISaySteadyOn · 29/11/2018 07:11

I didn't twig that. Do you mean that the actress who is playing Mrs Wilson is playing her real life grandmother's story?

LoniceraJaponica · 29/11/2018 07:15

I must have missed something because I don't remember a reference to a third wife. Nor did I see Keeley Hawes. Has there been two episodes then?

Elderflower14 · 29/11/2018 07:30

, @LonicaJoponicera KH was in the restaurant when RW spilt the champagne and in the background at the first funeral service....

Elderflower14 · 29/11/2018 07:31

@LonicaJaponica. Only one episode so far!!

Elderflower14 · 29/11/2018 07:33

@Isaysteadyon. Yes RW is playing her Grandmother...
here

Miscible · 29/11/2018 08:37

Lonicera, there was quite a lot of focus on Keeley Hawes, particularly at the funeral service, though she didn't speak.
