Audrey does seem to be the death of men/husbands- Alfie, Fred Elliot, etc

EachandEveryone · 01/01/2019 22:13

I know she didnt even bother to try and resuscitate its like she’d seen it all before.

SuperSuperSuper · 01/01/2019 22:46

I'd have liked a happy ending/marriage for Audrey, but I don't suppose Nigel Havers wanted to commit long term to CS.

I still wonder why he menaced Gail, and made Lily hand over the bear. Also, the conniving expressions.

Did someone try to convince Audrey that she had dementia once? I vaguely recall a storyline like that.

PizzaPlanet · 01/01/2019 22:48

Spookily Alf Roberts also died on New Year’s Day (well if I remember rightly!)

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/01/2019 22:56

What load of shite. Audrey scapegoating Gail when she didn’t even trust him herself! Gail was absolutely right not to trust him and look out for her mother after what he has done. And all his shifty looks when he heard of the inheritance, aggressively trying to take Lily’s teddy. Only one passport?

I hope they find out he really was swindling her otherwise all that was a pointless load of bullshit.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 01/01/2019 22:58

Yes super, someone, (Lewis? Tricky dicky?) took the batteries out of her smoke alarm and I remember her saying she was certain she had put some in because she always gets the replacement batteries in her hand before she gets up on the chair to take the old ones out.

Longdistance · 01/01/2019 23:04

I don’t think Lewis is dead.

Well, neither of them looked like they’d called the emergency services, or check that he was actually dead. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Clionba · 01/01/2019 23:26

So if Lewis was proposing marriage etc, why the furtive business with the teddy bear?

OP posts:
Longdistance · 01/01/2019 23:51

I do think he’s conned her, but he’s not dead. The ambulance in the background is a set up with some of Lewis’ con friends. He’s off to the Dominican Republic with her money. Possibly Nick’s financial advisor friend is involved?

Xmasbaby11 · 01/01/2019 23:53

Such a bizarre finale. It looked very staged with Lewis holding the ring.

BreconBeBuggered · 01/01/2019 23:55

Why do they always hang around staring at the corpse/not-corpse on soaps, instead of dialling 999? It's always 'Well, he looks dead to me - let's have a bit of a chinwag then one of us can unhurriedly fumble for our phones'.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 01/01/2019 23:56

Could Lewis really hold his breath for that long, surely Audrey would have noticed and felt for a pulse?

Xmasbaby11 · 02/01/2019 00:04

I don't think it's possible to pretend you're dead with close witnesses.

ChocolateStash · 02/01/2019 02:35

I don't think he is dead. The near loss may be a wake-up call for Audrey to hook her in to his scam and wreck her relationship with Gail.

SymphonyofShadows · 02/01/2019 07:38

He may be dead and she’s reading the scene wrong. The ring could have been for the next ‘marque’ he has selected and we still don’t know who that other woman was. She may still go ahead with whatever their plan was. If he was flying that night then the money has presumably been taken already.

DavidBowiesNumber1 · 02/01/2019 10:08

Oh I'm glad I've found this thread - no one other than me thinks that Lewis was up to no good and doing a bunk. Of course he was! Even when he was on the phone to the travel agent/airline he asked "can one upgrade at check-in?" not "can we upgrade?". He was going alone. Also, only 1 passport, small carry-on flight bag? Who really thinks he could fit Audrey's clothes in their too?
I can't wait to learn the truth but I do feel sorry for Audrey, she just wants to be loved.

DavidBowiesNumber1 · 02/01/2019 10:08

There, not their.

DavidBowiesNumber1 · 02/01/2019 10:10

Also, why did he cancel his reservation at the hotel? The same hotel where he met that other woman and went to the room after quaffing champers.

ajandjjmum · 02/01/2019 10:28

I don't think he would have asked 'can two upgrade at check-in?'!!!

Honeyroar · 02/01/2019 10:53

Brecon I was thinking that, and why did they take so long to answer the door when the ambulance came?!

BreconBeBuggered · 02/01/2019 11:38

Yes! I was sitting there going FFS, answer the door, you dozy pair of muppets. Whether he's really dead or faking, I think you'd be a bit less ready to write him off just because he's lying on the floor. At least get a shift on to let the paramedics in.

DavidBowiesNumber1 · 02/01/2019 11:41

ajandjjmum As I said in my post, he could/would/should have said "can we upgrade?" if Audrey was going.

Deadringer · 02/01/2019 12:47

I assumed that Lewis was dead for hours and cold when Audrey found him so no doubt in her mind and no rush to let the paramedics in. I thought that he was planning a wedding and whisking her off on honeymoon, but there could be a twist. He wasn't getting any younger and they would have a comfortable retirement on her 80 grand and her profit from the salon. He seemed fond of her and at his age would he do any better? Time will tell I suppose.
I can't believe that Peter is giving up the snooker hall after thinking about it for months, what was the point of that?

ILoveMaxiBondi · 02/01/2019 13:17

Was anyone else as disgusted as I was at Simon and peter chewing their gum and talking with it sloshing about in their mouths? That was revolting.

ajandjjmum · 02/01/2019 13:35

I don't agree DavidBowie - it was a general enquiry, not specifically for one person - just made me smile. Not that it's important now! Smile
