It's a well-known saying, my mum used to use it a lot. We're not jewish but she was from Lancashire. Maybe it's a local think but possibly not, google tells me this:

How come Carla can suddenly afford a boat? Wasn't she struggling to buy out the other half of the business, I don't think a knicker factory can be that profitable.

Why have they brought Jude back ?

The boat was because peter said he wouldn’t be happier than if he was sailing round the Caribbean with Carla. She said she wouldn’t go but he should. Or something along those lines.

OK so I'm dipping in and out of Corrie at the moment. Who is Archie and how much money are we talking about? Is this the £80K that Audrey inherited?

I knew as soon as Angie appeared at the cafe with Mary that Jude would be turning up soon. So predictable. As is the “fleece Mary for money, telling more lies to strangers” shite. Why are they rehashing it? We’ve had it already, we know what he does, we know how it goes. We were happy that he left!

My money's on Jude taking the money and running.

Why would she pay the private detective if he hadn't even shown a photo of Jude to the owner of the hotel?

Archie was an undertaker played by Roy Hudd, and Audrey worked for him making up the bodies and doing their hair.
