2’6”? Grin

Ahh I thought the snooker hall was in the other direction towards where they were walking to. I didnt realise there was a commercial street behind the rovers, I thought it was all houses.

Honeyroar · 29/12/2018 17:13

I could be wrong about the building. So much seems to have just popped up in the next street in the last year or two!

Deadringer · 29/12/2018 17:16

Yes buildings and gardens popping up all around the place at the moment.

SymphonyofShadows · 29/12/2018 17:51

Peter has been wearing a dodgy denim jacket with a sort of frill recently though. Not so hot.

clowdyweewee · 29/12/2018 19:01

NIck never wears questionable outerwear.

desperatehousewife21 · 30/12/2018 07:52

Aha! I came on here just to stay how hot Peter was looking! Grin

Does anyone else reckon Lewis was at that posh hotel with a wedding planner as he's going to propose to Audrey? Gail will blatantly ruin the surprise.

SymphonyofShadows · 30/12/2018 14:51

I don’t think it was a wedding planner, she said something about going to far and it being risky I thought.

SuperSuperSuper · 30/12/2018 15:53

When Lewis was last in it, I thought that he genuinely loved Audrey. Yet he now appears to be scamming her.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 30/12/2018 16:31

I reckon it’s a surprise wedding followed by the honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, Lewis is either genuinely in love with Audrey and has seen the error of his ways or he is playing the long game and by marrying her will inherit everything when she dies......or drum roll.......when Lewis does her in!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 30/12/2018 16:35

I can’t believe how quickly Sally forgave Tim, if my DH had shown a complete lack of support, belief and loyalty whilst leaving me to rot in prison for a crime I did not commit, no way would I fling my arms around him 5 minutes after seeing the error of his ways.

Powergower · 30/12/2018 17:52

I'm a few weeks behind. Having watched all my life from childhood I'm struggling to watch these last 5 or so years. Absolute drivel. Nonsense plots and awful characters with dire acting. It actually makes me really sad. The worst part is that the stories in the last decade have gone from ridiculous to disturbing. The story about lizs daughter was disgusting and unhinged and really triggering. The aidan story was done well but then quickly swept under the carpet. The Sally story is awful too. Corrie always demonize and castigate women. Always. And as for Gina she is a truly nasty character. Don't forget her Abbey the show was her ringing Sally to tell her the breast cancer was back. What an absolute bitch. Kate is an awful bully and I don't know what rana sees in her. Why are her ears always pinned back? Why does she over emote every expression? Rita is a mess. Mary is no longer the character she was. There's no norris and no explanation where he's gone. Every other character is loathsome.... Michelle Rob Beth fizz tyrone his nan Leanne... Every single character just awful.

The story re hope and the school is beyond belief. I rarely watch now and am just so close yo giving up altogether!

SymphonyofShadows · 30/12/2018 18:02

Betty I’d think that if they weren’t constantly rehashing storylines endlessly. I just don’t think they have the imagination sadly.

Boswellox · 30/12/2018 19:49

Considering nowadays the amount of hours the writers have to fill and the contortions required of some of the actors and actresses, I'm feeling a bit contrite about criticising. I still prefer old Corrie, but don't know how current Corrie could back track?

thenightsky · 30/12/2018 21:42

Powergower OMG... I'd forgotten the Gina story about Sally's breast cancer lie Shock That alone would be unforgivable in RL.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 30/12/2018 21:56

Considering nowadays the amount of hours the writers have to fill

Old Corrie ran at a much slower pace. Stories evolved over weeks and months, not two episodes done and dusted. If current Corrie slowed down and beefed up the quality of their stories rather than whizzing through them all at lightening speed I think they'd Find they could fill the hours easily but with much more fulfilling storylines that really held the audience. They also need to have a cast cull. Sorry, but they do, that’s part of the problem, they’re having to write stories for so many characters they can’t possibly do the storylines justice.

A week of Corrie watching feels like being at the checkout in Lidl having everything flung at you before you’ve had chance to grab the previous item. Corrie is the “no frills” of the soap world.

Clawdy · 30/12/2018 22:33

What was the Gina -Sally cancer lie? I don't remember it.

eddiemairswife · 30/12/2018 22:42

What irritates me that every character has to have some kind of drama in their lives. No one can just live an uneventful life like most of us do. And a lot of the humour that occurred in day-to-day interactions has disappeared.
And I find it increasingly difficult to follow who is living where and with whom, especially where Leanne is concerned.
Someone needs to produce a spreadsheet,

KlutzyDraconequus · 30/12/2018 23:50

They do need to kill half the cast and drop some episodes.

Think about the Sinead story as an example.
If she'd found out she had cancer in October. Started chemo for a couple of session and then found out she was.pregnant. then would follow several episodes of Sinead struggling with having chemo and being pregnant.. then later she meets.. the alternative therapy friend which puts even more questions in her head.. etc etc..

Because the time was taken to show the turmoil, to show the tears, the emotion and the pain etc the viewer is invested in what happens and the outcome and the twists have more weight.
If the current story.ends with Sinead dying, not many viewers will care too much because we're not invested. 30 seconds of screen time every two episodes doesn't make a connection.

ItsLikeRain · 30/12/2018 23:54

Someone was asking about a commercial street behind the Rovers?

Having recently been in the Corrie set tour, I can tell you that that is shown as a street with shops etc but that no one goes in them (they are just facades)

Gth1234 · 31/12/2018 01:48

Johnny and Mrs Johnny are going to be in so much more trouble than if they told the truth. Especially as Liz probably heard the bedside rant.

Gth1234 · 31/12/2018 01:51

did anything come to pass with the teddy bear recording?

maybe I was wrong, but I thought it had recorded something significant.

SymphonyofShadows · 31/12/2018 03:59

It did but Lewis deleted it. Sarah was recording Harry with his Christmas present on an iPad when Lily played what was on it though, so that’s bound to be a plot device.

Powergower · 31/12/2018 08:33

When Gina arrived she was stalking Sally and that included really quite vile threats and pretending to phone from the hospital saying her breast cancer was back. And the most disturbing part is that they always put Gina's most awful behaviour down to her metal health issues!

I don't like the Sinead story, well because I don't like Sinead. The eye acting is terrible and there it's little sympathy for her. And Daniel is just unhinged. They deal with massive issues like cervical cancer, suicide, bullying etc but with the most awful writing and acting.

ajandjjmum · 31/12/2018 12:14

Wasn't there an occasion when the garage CCTV recorded some crime (maybe Phelan connected), and we all thought that was a plot device, but it never came to anything?
