Mars bar to me if Oti and Graeme's VT involves a sodding Blackpool tram! Grin

OzzyMadBat · 13/11/2018 16:53

fleas cos he's 58 so was long time ago eg The Debbie McGee Defence
(had there been a second ringer with Alex to have a go at, she might have got away with it too...)

Wolfcub · 13/11/2018 17:00

I think Charles will do well in samba, lovely hips

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 17:21

58 Ozzy? I thought he was 68! I thought he was doing well for his age!!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 17:32

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst Yassss a fellow Count Fortuna fan! We're a rare breed Grin

Trent should definitely come back. Why don't they recruit him and Gordana next year to shake things up. I mean, they might have other priorities but still Grin

TrashPanda Tristan is divine.

Lol at Blackpool tram. I fear you might be right. I bet it's moving and all.

Are we having extra dancers in every routine at Blackpool this year? Sigh.

Some Brian and Kristina routines for your enjoyment:

I particularly like the mambo.

I'd personally like to see a return to arm hankies in ballroom and ruffly/bustle-y latin dresses Grin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 17:33

Indeed Wolfcub

However I have noticed he tends to stoop and - how do I put this? - lead with the Lad. Very disconcerting.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 17:38

Loved those videos Gareth!

Proper dancing that was, even though Kristina was a proper strumpet 😁

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 17:42

I loved Kristina's strumpetty-ness! Except for the Ben Cohen stuff - not good. But she was mesmerising on the dancefloor.

Here's a lovely vid showcasing Tristan and Aliona, I don't think I truly appreciated it at the time.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 17:50

Sorry I'm filling up the thread with old pro dances as the quality is just so much better!

Dionne's voice has gone and the quality of this vid is poor but I love the track and check out those lifts Shock
Iveta and Pasha:

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2018 18:07

Don't apologise Gareth - I'm loving them!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 18:09

Does anyone want to start a new thread in case I accidentally fill this one up with old videos? I can't think of a witty title Grin

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 18:27

This one is pure joy. I'd never seen the jive before I watched Strictly and I fell in love with it. I love the camera focused on each couple as they dance in and out. Ian and Camilla's legs Grin
Brendan, Matthew and Karen are just brilliant. All of them are!

I wondered if the current crop of pros/choreographers lack the technique to do this kind of pro dance. But surely it's easier than the overblown pro dances of late as they can just concentrate on their partner and their general placement on the dancefloor amidst the other pairs?

I also like their names across the bottom of the screen. It evokes a proper competition and acknowledges the partnerships.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 18:34

More ridiculous pro jiving!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 18:42

Here you go, new thread for when we fall off the bottom of this one...

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 18:47

Hooray!

Ever fallen in love? Jivetacular!

CassandraCross · 13/11/2018 18:54

Gareth my favourite pro jive comes up as an option on your 'Ever Fallen in Love' one - it's the one to 'In The Midnight Hour', boy do they all dance that well.

CassandraCross · 13/11/2018 18:58

myimaginarycathasfleas However I have noticed he tends to stoop and - how do I put this? - lead with the Lad. Very disconcertingGrin I can see me looking out for that throughout their entire dance on Saturday and not concentrating on anything else!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 19:03

Here's a pretty awesome pro rumba from season 6!

This might be my new favourite, what an absolute masterclass! Season 4:

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 19:04

Cassandra Of course, that may be his devious plan to keep our eyes off his footwork WinkGrin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 19:11

It’s such a treat to see some real dancing. And giving us their names too. Why did they have to muck abaaht with the format when it was working just fine?

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 19:16

I've hit a rich seam of old school pro dances so I better stop posting (and get on with dinner!) or I'll be here all night!

@CassandraCross I think I get a different selection based on previous videos I've viewed - I can't find that one despite searching. It rings a bell, can anyone link to it?

Lol at Charles leading with his er...

covetingthepreciousthings · 13/11/2018 19:21

Charles Venn and Karen Clifton are set to do a Couples’ Choice - Theatre and Jazz to The Trolley Song from Meet Me in St Louis.

^ but haven't they already done one couples choice dance with the street dance?
Does this mean they'll forego another of the 'traditional' dances? Hmm

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 13/11/2018 19:25

It's Graeme and Oti doing The Trolley Song coveting (god help us!)

Charles and Karen Samba to 'La Bamba' by Connie Francis

Purplemond · 13/11/2018 19:26

I love the pro jive where they are all in green outfits, i think its to Rebell yell someone posted in on a thread a few weeks ago
