Oh and whatever you want to say about Seann, he showed up and did his exit interview, albeit it was all kinds of awkward

SerenDippitty · 12/11/2018 19:10

This link contains what seems a very genuine exchange of tweets between Danny and Amy.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 12/11/2018 19:15

Long time lurker but first time poster on this thread!

I'm so disappointed DJJ didn't show, I really like him, but it's just coloured my view a bit about him he didn't respect his partner enough to support her. It's not like Amy could skip out on the interview could she?!!

Ah well. I'm also fairly gutted there was no tongue tied dance from red dwarf either!

derxa · 12/11/2018 19:18

Poor Amy!!!
I hate Zoe Ball tonight. She's like a demented flea.

Inkanta · 12/11/2018 19:27

'I also think that it will be difficult for the show to recruit celebrities as the media attention has intensified over the years.'

I know. Looks like Danny was crucified there by the media. Who needs it?

billysboy · 12/11/2018 19:34

you live by the sword and you die by the sword

These celebs love the media and encourage it all as it inflates their egos and have a right old flounce when it doesnt go their way

DJJ is no gentleman !

SanFranBear · 12/11/2018 19:44

I just wanted to add a Grin for those saying how Arlene was fair and didn't have favourites... she was absolutely shocking!! She practically licked Mark Ramprakash every time he danced!

I'm not saying I wouldn't want her back but she was not some impartial bastion of daaaaahnce.. she had her clear favourites!

I haven't watched ITT but feel for Amy massively - she seems really sweet and if there was genuine friendship there, why would he leave her in the lurch like that?

Chipstick10 · 12/11/2018 19:50

Omg the ridiculous dances the judges do before they take their seats ( especially Craig and Bruno) is so awful I want to crouch down behind the sofa. And agree about Darcey and her extra steps. What the hell is that all about?
Tess has finally morphed into Marti Caine and is now actually unbearable

Coached · 12/11/2018 20:02

I had tears from dd (7) when she watched the results from SCD this morning. She loved DJJ and was gutted he was out.

Then, on return from work tonight, we put IIT on and DJJ isn’t on. Cue more tears Sad

She loves watching Monday nights IIT. It’s just poor form on DJJ’s part isn’t it.

He’s got actual fans, in the form of kids too, and he stuck two fingers up to them. Disappointing is the word. He’s clearly not happy with the beeb but at least put out some sort of statement of apology for not attending.

SpanishFly · 12/11/2018 20:17

And there's the side of DJJ reared its head again, that a lot of posters on here didn't believe existed

Trying2bemum · 12/11/2018 20:19

@CaptainBrickbeard you're probably right. They seem like they really get on and are probably just really good mates. I just sometimes sense chemistry but I could be wrong!

Love Darcy and won't hear a word against her!!

Cannot believe Danny flounced and left Amy on ITT. What an almighty douche

MissEliza · 12/11/2018 20:30

Amy seems like a lovely girl. Hope she has a better experience next year.

SuperSuperSuper · 12/11/2018 20:34

I agree that it's going to be difficult to recruit quality celebs if this trial by social media business continues. This series, they have had a retired top cricketer, a BBC news broadcaster, a successful athlete, a Holby actor, a YouTube star, an acclaimed investigative journalist, ex Steps, Pussycat Dolls and Blue singers (I don't like thesegroups but they sold millions of records) plus others. In future, it'll be the likes of Kerry Katona, towie rejects, and Bob from Big Brother 2010 because no one will want to submit to what Seann and Danny went through, and the speculation that Joe is facing about his relationship with Dianne.

SoupDragon · 12/11/2018 20:35

After that media shit storm, the ridiculous scoring and all the nastiness on social media can you really blame him? People slagging him off, slagging his mother off... even accusing him of unwanted stroking of Amy on here.

He actually seems to have had more shit thrown at him than Seannn.

xsquared · 12/11/2018 20:41

I'm with you, Soupdragon. The nastiness against him has been relentless, even after his exit from the competition.

It is possible that he is avoiding further media appearances because he's crumbling under the pressure and knows that he will be unable to retain composure on screen.

Binglebong · 12/11/2018 20:47

My improvements would be:

Two dances (one Latin one ballroom) each episode so everyone dies the same and you can compare.

Props allowed once per couple per series.

No extra dancers.

Appropriate costumes - only dress up on Halloween.

Pros choose the music again. Apparently it's chosen by the producers now and they clearly have no idea!

Change the judges. Not Arlene - she is cringewoethy in how she drools over men. Karen Hardy would be fantastic.

Backstory reduction. VTs concentrate on the dancing.

Love Claude. Hate the enforced silliness. Get rid of the weekly "joke" and reduce the idiocy.

No more themed weeks (except Halloween!)

Stop pretending it's filmed over two days. Just why?!

It's a start.

VerbeenaBeeks · 12/11/2018 20:50

Well said, @SoupDragon. I'd be staying away too, don't blame him at all.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/11/2018 20:53

You are all such wise owls.

This series has been very dull, and that's in spite of having shedloads of glitter and gimmicks thrown at it.

It's so much in need of a reboot. I'd love it if they went back to the old format of two dances, Latin and Ballroom, which everybody got to dance.

I'm not remotely interested in anybody's backstory, official or otherwise. I just want to see people learning to dance and the judges critiquing them fairly on their performance. I never agree with them anyway. It's the same with Eurovision. Sad

Binglebong · 12/11/2018 20:56

Would love some of the old pros back too. Brendan, Robin Wood, Gough's partner (can't remember her name even though I know it perfectly well), Vincent and Flavia...

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 12/11/2018 20:57

Binglebong, that's all pretty much how it was in the early days. It's strange that that's what made the show successful, but now they refuse to believe that's what people want to watch

CassandraCross · 12/11/2018 20:57

I don't know ITT is light and fluffy he was hardly going to get an in-depth grilling from Zoe was he? He could have turned up for the exit interview and left straight afterwards.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 12/11/2018 20:58

Gough's partner (can't remember her name even though I know it perfectly well)

Lilia Kopylova

Wolfcub · 12/11/2018 20:59

Bingle that sounds like a good start to me

Binglebong · 12/11/2018 21:03

Thank you She! I knew it began with an L but could not get it in my head. That would have bugged me all evening.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/11/2018 21:12

I know this is my usual refrain about now, but we're going to need a new thread soon.
