Even if it wasn't a case of getting the old pros back, just getting pros who know what they're doing would be a huge help (yes, Janette, I'm looking at you).

MyMumDimensionJumps · 12/11/2018 21:38

*After that media shit storm, the ridiculous scoring and all the nastiness on social media can you really blame him? People slagging him off, slagging his mother off... even accusing him of unwanted stroking of Amy on here.

He actually seems to have had more shit thrown at him than Seannn.*

I agree. This man has a family. It can't be nice for them and maybe that comes first. He probably should have supported Amy, but imagine having this media attention and everything you say ends up getting twisted and you can't do or say anything right. Perhaps he has just decided enough is enough and he doesn't want to be involved anymore, and I can't say I blame him.

I felt the same about Sean and Katya. They messed up, but their partners didn't deserve the press attention and it was a hideous circus afterwards, making them sit there and apologise for something that has sweet FA to do with anybody else but them and their partners. It just reminds me of that awful trashy reality TV you get where people are tuning in to watch someone suffer or squirm. It's like one of those Black Mirror episodes!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/11/2018 21:45

Oh YES to Karen Hardy being a judge. She would be great.

I can't believe what poor Faye is putting herself through. Cold packs in the knickers. Shock Perhaps I'm not as keen to become a celebrity and go on Strictly as I thought I was.

MyMumDimensionJumps · 12/11/2018 21:54

Cold packs in your pants? Crikey, that is dedication!! Either that, or possibly a vindaloo the night before??

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/11/2018 21:57

At the front, for each hip MyMum. She was alternating with hot packs. It makes Shirley look like even more of a bitch for complaining about needing changes of pace when Faye was hoping to get all the way through without having one or both legs drop off completely.

MyMumDimensionJumps · 12/11/2018 22:06

Did Shirley mark Joe and Faye the same? If that's the case, she was definitely being harsh.

SpanishFly · 12/11/2018 22:21

I'm just a bit confused as to why lots of posters think DJJ was thrown under a bus, if he's an all round lovely guy? Is that plausible?
What would be the reason or point of doing that to someone who's done nothing controversial in reality?
I get why production were happyish to go along with the Sean and Katya thing, as it wasn't fabricated and it brought some publicity. But as pp have said, the couple were made happy to address what they did and discuss it. But why would they allow all this if it was all made up?

TrashPanda · 12/11/2018 22:48

I also think it was awful of DJJ to not turn up and leave Amy to do ITT by herself. I'm sure with Lee he had work abroad already booked, if he'd have stayed in then nobody would have known they'd have just missed a day training. It was just awkward that he went out that week.

I also think it needs an overhaul to make it more about the dancing again. Craig is treated like a panto villain but he's often the only person with constructive feedback and fair marks.

*I would change the judging panel, Bruno gone definitely, he's a caricature now. Maybe have 5 judges, none of this head judge casting vote nonsense.
*2 dances per week(one ballroom and one latin) so it's easier to judge couples against one another, start with the easier ones and get harder, don't do quickstep and rhumba first.
*No stupid VTs, show us actual training footage with stats about training hours etc.
*Cut back the use of props, sets and extra dancers, fewer themed weeks and proper dance costumes.
*Better song choices for all dances and traditional music for Paso, Tango, AT etc. Just play the songs as they are recorded and used in training. The singers occasionally have a good song, but most of the time it's awful.

Has anyone been watching Joe and Dianne look back over their week of training and rehearsals in his vlog channel? It's so interesting and I'd love to see all the couples do it.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/11/2018 23:28

Just watched ITT on catch up. What a sweet and generous girl Amy is. She’s really acquitted herself well through this debacle. I hope she’s rewarded for it.

Binglebong · 13/11/2018 00:06

I know this is trivial but I love Amy's accent.

almondfinger · 13/11/2018 02:06

Agree with all of the suggested changes and can I add one more that is annoying the crap out of me - the weekly celeb coming trough the golden curtain in the Clauditorium to read the T's&C's. Rylan (is that his name?) was a particular low this week.

Cut the judges dancing on. No one is tuning in to watch them twirling about.

I also had high hopes at the start of the series and the over marking is getting ridiculous. I hate the VT's but the kids insist we watch them.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2018 05:54

Oh God - YES!

That fiasco sets my teeth on edge!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/11/2018 06:03

And get rid of the bit in the "Sunday" (hahahahahaha) episode where the judges sit and discuss bits of dancing and where Shirley invariably embarrasses herself by flaunting her arse to demonstrate some step or other.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 09:10

Steph McGovern as lead presenter - genius!

Inkanta · 13/11/2018 09:17

I don't blame Danny for not turning up. The BBC seem to be a law unto themselves and they branded him a bully for publicity. Amy said it was just a disagreement during practice, so it should never have even been leaked to the press. Then after that the BBC expect him to turn up to ITT for light hearted banter and do their bidding. Does right to make a stand to the BBC, basically saying no - get lost.

mydogisthebest · 13/11/2018 09:35

I was disappointed that Danny did not turn up but none of us know the reason why do we?

I know Amy was never going to sit there and slag him off but, let's be honest, she could not have been nicer about him and she didn't have do that. I honestly think she did like him and they got on.

Maybe Inkanta is right and he decide "no sod you Strictly/BBC/rag newspapers I am not sitting smiling and laughing about my time on Strictly".

Lot and lots of people saying he was purposely marked low by the judges. Danny must think that too. Then to lose in the dance off to the mess that was Graeme's dance. I know I would be pretty pissed off.

For all we know he could suffer from depression or anxiety and all this has floored him. Plus I would think his wife and children and his mum are all pretty upset at his treatment

AppleKatie · 13/11/2018 09:48

No stupid VTs, show us actual training footage with stats about training hours etc

This is a much better idea than the pap we currently endure.

I also think they should show the truth of the couples relationships. Bullshit do they all love each other all of the time. It shouldn't be such a shock that DJJ and Amy had a row- presumably they ALL have rows regularly thats real life! I hate the faux we're the best friends EVER that goes on.

Some of them probably are, some are professional, some don't get on thats realistic. And would make the genuine partnerships stand out.

derxa · 13/11/2018 09:50

DH is a Murder in Paradise fan Confused (He finds it 'relaxing') I cannot relate the humorous character DJJ plays in it to DJJ himself. I suppose it's called acting.

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2018 10:00

theliverpool I reckoned that Shirl and Darce. have had a disagreement of some kind because they were great friends at the beginning. I love Darce not so much Shirl. but it's unprofessional of both of them to carry on a personal quarrel in the spotlight of SCD.

I still wonder what Darce does to retain the skin of a 20 yr old!!!

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 13/11/2018 10:05

If DJJ was so impossible to work with he should have been withdrawn. We should not have been treated to the farce of that judging because it was bullshit and they know it was.

Don't blame DJJ not turning up to the post eviction show.

I won't ever watch again...will leave it to those who believe the rubbish published.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 10:14

Amy said that DJJ had told her he was a frustrated song and dance man, and again in her interview that she hoped to see him on stage because he belonged there, so my bet is that his agent put him forward for SCD as a way of profiling his dancing and getting musical theatre roles. It’s not a bad strategy, it worked for Tom Chambers.

Orchiddingme · 13/11/2018 10:17

Delores I kind of agree. With both Seann and Danny, they then effectively rigged the vote (ok Seann got a reprieve of a week but we all knew he was going) rather than actually face up to the things they allegedly did wrong. That then makes the marking and voting look very fake, as it's being used to manipulate certain undesirable dancers out (for whatever reason) rather than to actually mark the dancers!

derxa · 13/11/2018 10:20

I just want to say that Dan Wootton is one of the most loathsome individuals I have ever seen on TV.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/11/2018 10:25

I don’t think the voting was rigged, I just think that a lot of people don’t like the outcome. In the end, the judges are the experts and they vote on the basis of their knowledge, experience AND their subjective opinion. I often disagree with their choice, but I don’t know as much about dancing as they do. It was always like that, by the way, Len could make some controversial choices too.

Personally I didn’t like DJJ’s dancing style in any of the dances he did, but if the judges had voted for him to stay then I’d have accepted that they saw something I didn’t.

He was deluded to think he was going to win, if that rumour is in any way true.

Orchiddingme · 13/11/2018 10:42

I think the marking was deliberately designed to place Danny bottom, so that the public vote (or lack of it) would do its work. Danny scored 6's this week, as opposed to 8/9/ even a 10 one week. I don't love his style of dancing either, however he didn't suddenly plunge 4 points in a week or so. It was a way of removing him without actually having to do it, or justify it publicly.
