A new adventure awaits us in the New World. It's going to be savage!

I'm in Ireland and can't wait for season 4! What channel are you guys watching it on? Just wondering if I can find it here.

Lessstressedhemum · 07/11/2018 20:20

It's on Amazon Prime here.
Jamie is certainly a dab hand at whipping down his troosers. He's even better at flinging up his kilt. I cannot wait for the kilt to make a comeback Blush

Ah thanks Lessstressedhemum looks like I'll have to wait, don't have Amazon prime.

Hmm, I agree with lots of you, not sure about that for a first episode. So different from the start of Season 3 when I was desperate for them to be reunited, and totally swept along by the strength of the story.

I did enjoy this book but the storyline didn't grip me as previous ones did so I have a feeling the coming season will be the same - I'm expecting to enjoy it without being totally hooked.

Still - I agree that it's always nice to see Jamie Grin

Finally managed to see it last night. Although I still enjoyed it, I didn't feel the same love as I have for previous seasons. Not sure if that might be because it's the first season where I have read the book before watching, or whether it has just lost a bit of its spark for me.

Agree with the comments about the green screen and wigs, and wasn't keen in the music over the end.

There was a lot of scene setting in this episode, Sao hoping we'll get settled in at River Run next week.

Hiya hope there is room for one more 😀. New to thread but listened to the whole Outlander series on audiobook way before the series. Just had to pop on to say how much I enjoyed it, I do think the soundtrack is signalling a different time/a different country, they have shown form in meticulous consideration and art direction for this e.g Boston. So thumbs up from me. Its also getting a little tongue in cheek, I hope, perhaps a way to deal with DGs eye-rolling bodice- ripper scripts - the pecs shot was overtly ridiculous so ironically fab ? Made me laugh anyway.

Any vague misgivings I had about the acting esp CB are truly out the window - I think she owned this one. The slowmo scene was enthralling, even with the pantomime baddy. Top marks, dont give a stuff about the cgi. 🤣

I thought the episode was mostly boring but i loved the ending although it made me feel so sad and empty and unjust!
I noticed the cgi but didn't think too much of it negatively. I want then to just have a nice time for a while. I haven't read the books! Still love jamie

I think there was quite a lot to fit into one episode, a lot of setting the scene: New World, J & C's more established relationship after the uncertainty of S3, characters that will be in this S4 Marsali, Fergus, Ian, Rollo; pitted against the violence of the times: hanging, graveyard, a bit about slavery, the piracy/attack on the boat.

Episode 2 tomorrow - hoping for good things!

I remember in the books a lot of the start was discussions about how hot it was. It just went on and on.
TBH I was quite relieved that they skipped that part in episode 1.

They'd be hard pushed to talk about how warm it was filming here in winter😂

I know Less, I was wondering for the last year how they would manage the heat when filming in Scotland.

Just watched episode 2 - I enjoyed it much more than the first episode. Well, maybe enjoy isn't quite the right word!

Promised DH I wouldn't watch it until tonight but I've seen the HH are out in force complaining that it's not following the books! I think I might have to remove them from my timeline.

Very disturbing episode. I guess it was necessary to really set the scene but yeesh, difficult to watch.

I suppose it follows on well from the ending of the last episode. The idea of early America as a promised land, but in reality, a quite violent and disturbing place too.

The whole issue of slaves, follows on from S3 but brings it home even more. I'm trying to remember what happened in the books, I do remember the part about the law and shedding a white man's blood.

That bit was in the book, but they didn't bring rufus back to the house. Jamie got him down and Claire gave him the aconite on the spot because she would have been saving him just for him to be executed. It was a very tough read, too.

I haven't been on Facebook yet. I can only imagine what they are saying because a lot of that episode was different from the book, tbh. I don't know why they can't understand that the show is an adaptation of the books. They expect everything to be exactly the same. It's as if the books are some sort of Holy scripture.

I haven't watched it yet but the general consensus is that Claire is a bit stupid, Jamie is behaving like a lapdog and it's all a bit brutal!!

I think the episode stood well on its own merits. This is the first season where I’ve read the book in advance, and it is definitely different to watch with an eye to what has changed/stayed the same. A huge amount of condensing had to happen if they are to leave River Run before the end of the season. Slightly disappointed not to see Jamie back in full highlander mode making Claire swoon, but enjoyed Jocasta very much, and thought the adaptation of the Rufus story worked well. It was good that they didn’t shy away from the realities of the time.

I was gutted not to see Jamie in his kilt 😔

I'm glad I haven't looked at hh today. I don't agree with any of that and Jamie most definitely wasn't a lapdog. For goodness sake, what are they expecting? I didn't, for once, think that Claire was being stupid, either. She was just struggling with the realities of the situation. It is a bit brutal but it was a brutal time and the books have a lot of very unpleasant things in them, anyway; the abortion gone wrong springs to mind, also at RiverRun. They have to change/condense a lot if they want to ever get to Fraser's Ridge, hh and the like should just suck it up.

Agree that Jamie has got too buff (if there is such a thing)

And what was going on with Stephen Bonnets accent? Is he meant to be Irish? Cos it was all over the shop
