We did, yes although they don't show B7 any more, I think. In fact, not sure about DW at the moment as DS has starting Having An Opinion and sometimes we even Go Out...

lemonaid · 24/06/2007 23:03

(Doctor Who, not Dear Wife)

MrsWho · 24/06/2007 23:04

Nevre into Blake 7 though

I came to that late, too, via UK Gold (my parents again). It was ropey in (a lot of) places -- but Avon as a character was sheer genius IMO. Also the fact that the rest of them were mostly a bit crap and found themselves being the goodies (not the Garden/Oddie/Brook-Taylor ones) by accident was a cut above a lot that was around.

lemonaid · 24/06/2007 23:08

Finding oneself being the Garden/Oddie/Brook-Taylor Goodies by accident would be interesting too, mind.

[lemon tries to imagine what kind of accident might have such consequences]

Mossy · 25/06/2007 07:38

Another vote for Blakes 7 here... wasn't around the first time but have watched the DVDs and it's excellent... is it just me or is there something a bit sexy about Avon, even with the bowl-head hair cut?

JackieNo · 25/06/2007 08:29

Definitely - very sexy. I watched it first time round too. Shows how old I am. Ah, happy days, lounging around in bed, pre-DCs, watching Doctor Who and Blake's 7.....

Gizmo · 25/06/2007 16:38

In a desparate attempt to raise the bar on Doctor Who geekery, I have (between reading the Canon on OG) been attempting to make out what the Toclafane could be.

Noting RTD's fondness for anagrams, you might like to know that Toclafane are an anagram of 'Fatal Once' which is nice and ambiguous, but it doesn't really get me anywhere, not knowing enough about the back story with DW. There's also the equally intriguing 'Fetal Cano'. Could the Toclafane be babies?

Or is RTD just yanking my chain? Oooooooohhh, roll on Saturday - it can't come quick enough.

LyraB · 25/06/2007 17:40

Do any of you know if David Tennant is continuing as Dr Who in the next series?
I wouldn't be Dr Who without him imo. I never saw the series Christopher Eccleston did.

fillyjonk · 25/06/2007 17:46

nah mossy the daleks were in a void ship, not a paradox machine

beansprout · 25/06/2007 17:46

I think he is going to be in (they daren't change him!!)

fillyjonk · 25/06/2007 17:47

oh he will won't he? i mean, if you look at wiki, he WANTED to do this since he was about 3.

i think he could be like tom baker, only good, so I hope he stays.

Peachy · 25/06/2007 18:33

He signed for at least 1 more series didn't he, and Freema?

this is handy

MrsWho · 25/06/2007 19:01

Still think they are something to do with the timelords. In TSOD the Master says if I told you it would break your hearts

OP posts:
Peachy · 25/06/2007 19:17

see this drives you amd

all I have learned is that my rl name is an anagram of racial cheep

fabulously useful

oh and toclafane is an anagram of clan at foe

so very useful- not

Gizmo · 25/06/2007 21:07

'Drives you mad'

Aha! have we isolated the problem with the Master then? He hasn't been driven mad by staring into the time vortex at the age of 8, he's spent too long attempting to unravel RTD plotlines.

UnquietDad · 25/06/2007 21:15

For those who wanted to know.....

The Master's soundtrack...

serenity · 25/06/2007 21:21

Bloody Issy gets everywhere!

serenity · 25/06/2007 21:25

Maybe ....... the paradox machine has ripped a hole in space and time to the End of the Universe(tm) where the last survivors of humanity have made their way to Utopia only to be made into the Toclafane by some nefarious scheme?

Peachy · 25/06/2007 21:28

I love that song UD, have done for a while now

UnquietDad · 25/06/2007 21:30

Special gallifreyan bonus points if you can name where the bass-line is sampled from!...

beansprout · 25/06/2007 21:30

Ah, didn't the Dr say something about the Tardis only travelling between now and the end of the universe? Or did I make that up?

Peachy · 25/06/2007 21:31

yep he did, the sonic crewdriver set a limiter on it

liljo2007 · 25/06/2007 23:11

ooh, it is late, but, UQD, think the rogue traders sample is elvis costello. but i might have got that a bit mixed up....
