Anyone going to be watching the new Doctor Who now it is a woman?
Love Jodie as an actress. Never been fussed on the doctor before!!

I liked it and can't wait for next week.

We need the tardis smiley back.

LavenderBush · 07/10/2018 20:45

Yeah the plot was a bit crap to be fair but she wss brilliant.

specialsubject · 07/10/2018 20:45

portrayal is very David tennant - and where are the opening credits? Doctor is back to being sexless which is badly needed.

Plot full of holes. Companions good, with backgrounds and characters and no sex lives, thank goodness after the dreadful 'i am a lesbian and nothing else ' Bill. Whitaker is a bit mumbly but can understand the rest.

spoiler....

Knowing who the companions would be, the redshirt was obvious. And is Karl still up the crane?

End theme music was awful and I have never heard of most of those listed at the end so no excitement there, sorry.

helzapoppin2 · 07/10/2018 20:45

I liked it. I think Jodie Whittaker will be great. I lost interest in “Grumpy” Capaldi, and I think Jodie will regenerate the role.

Housewife2010 · 07/10/2018 20:48

Re the listed actors I recognised three from Coronation Street, a Downton Abbey & Sex & the City.

Notonthestairs · 07/10/2018 20:49

We enjoyed it. DS is 10 and it held his attention. Will watch again.

Doobydoobydooyeh · 07/10/2018 20:54

My kids watched the first ten minutes then were terrified and we had to turn over. They are 7 and 11. I thought it might be more child friendly as on so early.

MindBodyChocolate · 07/10/2018 20:55

I really liked it! Watched it til Capaldi took over when I very quickly lost interest. This is the first series my DCs have been old enough to watch and I'm thrilled their first Dr is a woman :)

Not keen on her outfit though.

TheThirdOfHerName · 07/10/2018 20:56

So far, the 13th doctor apologises too much. I probably wouldn't have noticed if she were a man, but a lot of women have been conditioned to apologise even when they've done nothing wrong, and I'm trying to reduce the habit in myself.

seventhgonickname · 07/10/2018 20:57

Bit shocked that she has a sonic vibrator.

TheThirdOfHerName · 07/10/2018 20:57

Other than that (and the "would of") I liked her.

NoLeslie · 07/10/2018 20:57

I LOVED it. Really enjoyable.

PuppyMonkey · 07/10/2018 21:00

I loved her. I thought she was very Christopher Ecclestone too so it made sense.

RustyBear · 07/10/2018 21:00

@TheThirdOfHerName - the 10th Doctor apologised a lot, too.

@TapDancingMum Tardis

StripySocksAndDocs · 07/10/2018 21:02

Totally loved it!! Totally brought Doctor Who back to where it I loved it as a child. Moffat slowly murdered and Calpaldi finished it off any interest. All that phoney intellectual interpretation.

I don’t care a jot about the sex or race of the Doctor or companions.

RustyBear · 07/10/2018 21:02

@TheThirdOfHerName - forgot the link. Sorry Grin

NicoAndTheNiners · 07/10/2018 21:04

I thought she was good. I stopped watching with Peter Capaldi so am hoping this will be a better season.

Davros · 07/10/2018 21:05

DD decided to watch it against my advice. She's now gone upstairs to get a David Tennant fix. We hated it. It stopped being a kids' shiw a few series ago but now it is again. And "would of" Angry

dudsville · 07/10/2018 21:05

I loved it! I was anxious for her. Love Dr Who and was so hoping it would go well. I like Peter Capaldi and thought his talent was chanel led down a narrow alley. I liked that she has his jacket on at the start add I missed there being more of a handover and a more typical regeneration but all said I thought it was a strong episode and she's very doctorish!

Figgygal · 07/10/2018 21:07

I liked her
Story not so much

I love capaldi but his stories were shite and it put me off

Disfordarkchocolate · 07/10/2018 21:07

I'm going to watch it tomorrow. I loved Christopher Eccleston and Matt Smith. I hated David Tennant once Catherine Tate joined. Never bothered with Peter Capaldi, be just looked too old.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 07/10/2018 21:08

I love doctor who. I have done since I was a child. We would reruns on Sunday mornings with my dad.

I liked tonight's, but I always wrote off a doctors first episode as it's purely for setting them in the role and getting their companion(s) together.

I didn't like that there was no title sequence, especially as we have a new composer on board.

tapdancingmum · 07/10/2018 21:10

@RustyBear how do you do that?

RustyBear · 07/10/2018 21:11

[ tardis ] but with no spaces

FermatsTheorem · 07/10/2018 21:12

Another one who thought she was very Christopher Ecclestone (which is a good thing as he was my fave of the modern doctors).

Bit gutted Ryan's nan died though - "she was my favourite" (RIP Brucie!)
