Anyone going to be watching the new Doctor Who now it is a woman?
Love Jodie as an actress. Never been fussed on the doctor before!!

Yes the had the option to but her in adult women's clothes, I'd like a mint velvet feel, "relaxed glamour".

EnidButton · 07/10/2018 19:59

I didn't like it. 😩 Really wanted to, I love Doctor Who. Very pleased JW was keeping her Northern accent. Liked the clips we'd already seen. I had cautious high hopes.

I loved the first scenes with Ryan, his Nan and Graham but after the Doctor appeared it went down hill for me. Really miss Murray Gold's music as well, I thought JW's acting was a bit crap.

But looking at Twitter I might be in the minority.

Jb291 · 07/10/2018 20:00

I watched it and I actually really liked it. There is something so different from previous series and no I don't mean the gender of the main character. It had a very different feel to it.

SneakyGremlins · 07/10/2018 20:01

Watching it now! On iPlayer

EnidButton · 07/10/2018 20:01

Oh I did like the Alien/monster though. That was really well done and genuinely scary looking.

TheSteakBakeOfAwesome · 07/10/2018 20:06

I'm listening to DH watch it (I'll watch it later) and I'm just so fucking glad they didn't balls up dealing with Ryan's dyspraxia. Had real fears they'd fuck that one up.

SoupDragon · 07/10/2018 20:06

I told DD that the monster was the tooth fairy.

In my defence, she’s 12!

WeaselsRising · 07/10/2018 20:06

That was complete rubbish. They were only missing a Chinese/Japanese companion to complete the set and be totally pc...

hackmum · 07/10/2018 20:07

She was good but the plot and the script were dire.

Vagndidit · 07/10/2018 20:08

I quite liked it, actually. I think she'll be a good Doctor. The Tim Shaw bit had me properly LOL but I am easily amused

Tahani · 07/10/2018 20:09

And that's where the trousers came from

Doctor Who
rosy71 · 07/10/2018 20:12

I thought it was great. It reminded me of a David Tennant episode. Looking forward to next week.

exLtEveDallas · 07/10/2018 20:13

I laughed at Tim Shaw too Vagndidit Smile

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 07/10/2018 20:14

When I watch Corrie now all I will be able to think of is yes Leanne Battersby is Dr Who! Not just in looks but in character as well, Jane Danson could have played the role equally as Jodie Whittikar!

RustyBear · 07/10/2018 20:14

Chris Chibnall has a nephew with dyspraxia, so knows something about it.

I enjoyed it, first episodes of a new regeneration are usually a bit light on alien plot, and at least it didn’t have anything as ridiculous as the 11th Doctor’s fish fingers & custard sequence.

Not too sure about Graham, though I like the idea of an older guy, but it looks like he might turn into a negative disbeliever stereotype- I hope not.

I’ll be interested to see what the new opening titles look like next week.

SneakyGremlins · 07/10/2018 20:18

20 minutes in and loving it!

Cocolepew · 07/10/2018 20:22

I enjoyed it, I hated Moffats writing so stopped watching a while ago.
I have a secret crush on Bradley Walsh Blush.
DD is a massive DW fan and loved it.

NancyDonahue · 07/10/2018 20:25

The storyline was pants. Most of it being in the dark didn't help. I like JW but something was grating on me. I think she just needs time to bed in. I bloody hated DT at first but by the end he was, and still is, my favourite Doctor.

And I hate the outfit.

EnidButton · 07/10/2018 20:26

Having a character have dyspraxia was good and they introduced it well. Was surprised and pleased with that.

There were glimmers of things I liked so I'll watch again next week. Hopefully it's just teething (!) problems.

Jowak1 · 07/10/2018 20:27

I really enjoyed the story and all the characters but I just can't get my head around Dr Who being a woman! And one that looks like Leanne Battersby!🙈😂

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 07/10/2018 20:28

Well, we really enjoyed it in this house.

I always feel the first few with a new Dr are a bit strange, until you settle into it.

But, I thought it was very good.

HumphreyCobblers · 07/10/2018 20:33

We enjoyed it in our house.

Except for the teeth. That was disgusting and made me feel weird.

I liked it that her clothes came from the charity shop.

LassWiADelicateAir · 07/10/2018 20:37

I thought it was dreadful.

The story line wasn't the least bit original or remarkable. Don't like any of the new personality and charisma free side-kicks and the flapping cuffs are really annoying.

SouthWestmom · 07/10/2018 20:37

So we are watching it now.

She can't seem to breathe and speak - too much gasping.

We don't like it. She's trying too hard to be a character.

At least the plot is easy.

LavenderBush · 07/10/2018 20:41

Loved it.

Was worried about the whole "female Doctor" thing and really hoped it would work out... it was actually even better than I'd thought it might be. JW is going to be a great Doctor Who.

DS aged 13 is a massive Doctor Who fan and has not batted an eyelid about the whole male/female thing, much to my relief. Says he can't wait to see the rest of the series but has made no comment whatsoever about the Doctor being female or otherwise.
