Anyone else think Shirley was out of order commenting on Sean Walsh’s hair?

Oh how exciting katie! Had a good friend go last year and she loved it but it was a lonnnng day as she was there queuing early and then obviously was there for the results show recording too. She said the atmosphere was v amazing too. Fab you were there on the first night!

i felt sorry for Susannah, I like anton but he just set her up to be the comedy act.
I though Joe was good. weirdly my head tuned out when Lee was on.
not keen on pound shop Idris. but liked the rest.

I thought a lot of shirleys comments were veering on being sexist. She also needs to open her mind a bit. Bit old fashioned views for my liking.
I thought dr ranj was utter rubbish!

I really enjoyed it last night & was pleasantly surprised by most of them. Loved Dr Ranj - he just made me smile the whole time watching him.

I can't stand Anton - he never brings out the best in his partners & turns them into joke acts even when they have promise (thinking about Laila Rouass - he should have been sacked after his treatment of her).

I didn’t have a problem with Shirley talking about Shaun’s hair. She didn’t say “get a blaady haircut” like Len used to: she said “for this particular genre I think it would be more in keeping to see it under control”. And the people on DS who were moaning about double standards wrt Graziano clearly missed the bit where she went on to say “but when you’re doing Latin then feel free to let it all hang out”.

The correct answer is Danny. He will take it steady for a few weeks showing technically superb (and high scoring) but uninspiring performances and then they'll do a Jive or something Latin and there will be no doubt that he was a ringer all along.

Anton definitely isnt being fair. I thought Susannah was right to ask Craig to show her as obviously Anton’s latin is way below par. I suspect if Susannah had had a different partner then her outcome would be completely different.

Susannah seems a bit vulnerable to me, by comparison with Ruth who was taking it all very lightheartedly and was well used to the pressures of live TV and personal scrutiny.

Danny started his career as a professional dancer (as if you couldn’t tell from that routine ).

The gratuitous use of spins in the choreography is the giveaway with ringers - newbies take years to learn how to do them well, so pros can’t resist putting them in if they have a partner who can do them (regardless of whether they’re genre appropriate), and the judges are impressed by them (or used to be: I think they’re now quite blasé at seeing a former professional dancer performing a dance skill) but IMO the viewing public aren’t necessarily all that impressed.

My verdict is , that I was wrong about Susannah, she CAN dance, but lacks confidence, stamina and strength, I think I heard Anton say that she had been in a dance troupe in her youth. Agree that Anton didn't even try to help her with that stupid routine. Hooraay for Darcey telling him clearly to "drop the props". He's a pratt.

The standard is very high . I LOVED Danny , Amy was good with him. The group dance with the fountains was fabulous. I noticed Katya's dancing in it , she is extraordinarily good! Not sure if Sean will be able to give it all she expects of him though!

The orchestra and some of the singing was better than in the last series IMO. I liked most of the songs they used too.

Shirley should be critical of the choreography, she is Head Judge after all. '

Jane I had Vick down to win. She is also DD's favourite.
But the lower scoring all round compared with previous series and her being on the bottom half of the leaderboard puts her in jeopardy unless she has an amazing second week/judges overmark to help try secure her/balance out board (although iirc lots of ties won't help either).

Vick HAS LEAST KNOWN PRO /showmance/smaller following in comparison....but has done contempowaft: might transfer to ballroom?

Her jive disappointed me but I've seen worse cough Peter Andre cough (28 points, really?!) and Pixie with her long legs got 27 week 1 but arguably had more content.

Bottom line - they're all working hard. I can't call it.
Ironically the ones I have watched on repeat are the non-dancers so Ranj, Graeme, Seann, Joe and the tangerine two

I like Shirley - comes across as fair & also traditional in her expectations of the dances & choreography, which I like.

I'm full of a cold as well and actually fell asleep watching last night! I've caught up now though.

I wish they hadn't put painfully-thin-Joe in trainers, it makes it so much harder to get the action through your feet, or even point them nicely in the kicks and flicks.

Lee is shite - he was all over some tabloid brother this morning about his drink and drugs hell, or how he fell off a swing when he was seven and it scarred him for life or some such crap.

I hope he is totally unsupported by the public and sinks without trace into a shallow, unmarked grave somewhere.

Anton’s commenta about Susannah being in a dance troupe when she was younger was a joke. He also mentioned she’d trained with the Royal Ballet (or something asking those lines).

I also am an ageing woman [ grin] and do not obsess over little boys. BUT Charles and Danny are a different matter!!!!!
