Apparently she called Charley the N word in a 'joking manner' whilst they were dancing and was chucked out at 3 in the morning.

Stupid, silly naive girl

(as in a mix, I a was born in Istanbul, raised in England, DP was born in Algeria, his dad is Croatian, and he moved to England for school)

plummymummy · 07/06/2007 21:09

So hardly ever likely to be called that word then.

noddyholder · 07/06/2007 21:10

This is a word which via hip hop has crept into the language again for that age group and although i personally find it offensive I think that us partly an age thing.I also think a black person using it to another black person is also offensive.

TaylorsMummy · 07/06/2007 21:11

you don't have to be white to be racist towards black people

Booboobedoo · 07/06/2007 21:11

Oi'll... do... eeeevryting to you.

bettybobo · 07/06/2007 21:11

oh the old chestnut that's rolled out everytime - I can't be racist because....

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 07/06/2007 21:15

What twisted irony. I posted that link to illustrate the ignorance of some people but some of you have done it so much better in the things you have said in response.

TaylorsMummy · 07/06/2007 21:16

you don't have to be black to have racism aimed at you.but you do have to be black to be called the word n and i tell you what,it would really piss me off,big time to have some stranger (who is not black) telling me the term is perfectly inoffensive and showing me clips like that

Booboobedoo · 07/06/2007 21:17

TDWP: FWIW I agree with you, and I think you should now go and find a more fun thread.

I'm going to.

electra · 07/06/2007 21:17

No you posted it because you were trying to say that what went on in BB isn't racist

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 07/06/2007 21:18

Please show me where I said that that word is perfectly inoffensive?
If you actually bothered to read the whole thread then you wouldn't be saying that.

The vultures strike yet again.

plummymummy · 07/06/2007 21:18

There was an interesting docu on tv a while back featuring one of the guys from So Solid Crew and it was about black youth using the word in their own social groups. He said he uses it all the time with his crew and it is accepted, but he said he was aware that other black people of all generations had opposing views. He spoke to a female rapper same age as him and she explained why she hates the word and does not like black people using it. Then his mother spoke to him about her opposition to the term because of the association with slavery and oppression. He then went to Downham, South London to chat to some white youths who were clearly very very uncomfortable with the use of the word. He came away from the whole experience saying he would probably still use the word but was now more aware of the intense feelings it provokes in others and would try to be more sensitive in future.

TaylorsMummy · 07/06/2007 21:19

see your post of 13:54 the devil

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 07/06/2007 21:21

Booboobeddo, thanks!
A voive of reason!

I cannot leave this alone though.
To those who are so offended by this, then what are you doing right now? Is that perfectly acceptable?

TDWP - you are obviously too defensive to really consider why your sentiments are offensive.

Mercy · 07/06/2007 21:24

Sorry, have only skimmed the thread.

Can someone explain; is the TDWP being criticised because of the link or her comment which accompanied it? Or both?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 07/06/2007 21:28

Like I say, people are just leaping in here and making accusations and assumptions based on sweet f.a.

I really am leaving this now. It bothers me what BITCHEs you can be sometimes.

I am all for a good debate, or intelligent arguement , but to have to defend myself over something so silly is just gobsmacking.
