Don't want to high-jack thread and it was great telly but I'm still fuming from watching this last night . Talk about blatant sexism. I'm not particularly sympathetic towards Katie or Christina but why wasn't Trey quizzed about his childcare arrangements??? This is 2007!!

Countingthegreyhairs · 07/06/2007 09:54

For all we know, Trey's wife might be working full-time, travelling the length and breadth of the country. And they say there's equality in the workplace???? Gggrrrrr

all three the fired are going to be on 5 live now - anyone fancy ringing in to have a chat? .

binkleandflip · 07/06/2007 10:03

Oh. My. Gah!! Had a sexual dream about Sir Alan last night, he was amazing!!!! What am I on? Even worse...Margaret was present, assessing! AAAAGGGGGHH! Apprentice was fantastico last night - no words for Katie, she's an absolute viper (and I'm speaking as an ex-viper who grew up)

UnquietDad · 07/06/2007 10:04

binkle

T M I !!!!

binkleandflip · 07/06/2007 10:19

Also, I thought the bra lady on you're fired went out of her way to belittle Katie and I think Katie was well overdue putting in her place to be honest. The bra women is a self-made millionaire - hugely successful and respected - and had every reason to gloat in my opinion.

Wotz · 07/06/2007 10:20

Can anyone tell me if SA's line of questioning Katy about her commitment was along the lines of interview questions that should or should not be asked?

I am talking in reference to her child care arrangements?

What did anyone think?

Ceebee74 · 07/06/2007 10:24

Hi Wotz (lovely to meet you briefly the other week btw) - as I work in HR myself I was cringing at those questions (by Siralan and the other 3 interviewers) - they are exactly the type of questions that we tell our managers not to ask under any circumstances!! You can only ask them if you ask them of all candidates and did he ask Tre about his childcare arrangements??

Countingthegreyhairs · 07/06/2007 10:26

Wotz - hi - have just spotted another thread about this very thing! Like you, posted on this one not realising the other one existed!!

Sorry - I'm no good at doing links - just look at 'last 15 mins' category

binkleandflip · 07/06/2007 10:28

but Tre wasn't being offered a place in the final so irrelevant?

Ceebee74 · 07/06/2007 10:32

No - but the 3 interviewers also were asking her questions about her childcare etc - when Tre was also being interviewed by those 3 people - will have a look at the other thread.

Perhaps questions about Tre's family were edited out. How are we to know, that's the thing. The "You're Fired' programme is atrociously edited - jumping all over the place

Wotz · 07/06/2007 11:01

Hi Ceebee74, thanks, it was great meet, but a very busy week so abit of a rush for me. I didn't know you worked in HR, so good to hear your views.

Wordsmith · 07/06/2007 11:11

Ceebee - my dh is a recuritment consultant and he too was yelling at the TV "You're not allowed to ask her that!!!!" Much as I dislike Katie however I thought she dealt with the childcare questions quite well. When she said she'd 'done' children I took it to mean that she wouldn't be ahving any more and therefore would'nt be taking any maternity leave, potential disruption etc, not that her children were somehow in the past.
Agree she had no intention of taking a job with sralan, optherwise someone as bringht as her would already have sorted out what she'd do with her family when she won.

DaisyMOO · 07/06/2007 11:11

I just read that Katie is 31 Crikey, if I looked that haggard and saggy at 31 I wouldn't go on national TV

Wotz · 07/06/2007 11:27

I think she looks good for 31. What's that got to do with anything anyway, how you look! What is the right look for a 31 year old mother?

southeastastra · 07/06/2007 11:28

i still like her! i'd work with her it'd be a laugh

bosscat · 07/06/2007 11:38

I think Katie had no intention of taking the job but initially planned to get into the final. when she was told she had got in, she felt bad for the other 2 because she knew they really wanted it and she was not going to take the job anyway. A flicker of conscience perhaps?

chaffinch · 07/06/2007 11:41

I actually think what Katie did was one of the worst acts she has carried out so far. By making her announcement at that particular time she has taken a lot away from Kristina and Simon as neither of them know which one Sir Alan would have chosen had Katie decided to remain in the competition. This means, in her head at least, she is the "one true winner" as she is the only one Sir Alan definitely chose as a finalist.

If I had been Sir Alan I would have challenged her more as to why she entered the competition when she hadn't made arrangements as to what she would do if she won. By doing this she has taken the place of someone else who genuinely wanted the job and not just fame like herself. I think she is a horrendouse person with an ego the size of China - I would neither employ her nor work for her

niceglasses · 07/06/2007 11:43

I couldn't stand Katie, - in it for the publicity without a doubt.

However, don't see why childcare issues - asked of both Kate and Kristina were an issue of them and none of other males. We don't even know if they have children - which speaks volumes in itself I think.

hamma · 07/06/2007 11:43

if she's 31 I'm the Queen of Sheba
