He wouldn't be calling Mel sweetheart if she's the ex wife - their relationship was shown to be antagonistic earlier in the episode.

The Guardian review stated "It sounds a lot like whatever went on in the holiday rental, Eliot was somehow involved. When Cassie and Sunny come to visit James, he immediately lawyers up, lies to his wife and phones Eliot to announce: “It’s happened, sweetheart. They’ve come – the police – about her.”

So that particular reviewer is sure James was talking to his son then...

Hi! I've found you all, I felt sure there would be a thread. I picked up on Hayley's boyfriend at the time of her murder: his surname is Mullery (Spurs fan, so it resonated), he was 23 to her 18 but I think it was the assistant police officer on the original enquiry that said he was young for his age & she was mature for hers. Mullery is now a teacher - that was the newspaper headline - Hayley's murder suspect boyfriend now teacher, or some such. Also explains the pigeon hole. I thought he must have had some shit hot counselling to get over his girlfriend's murder, qualify as a teacher and get on with his life. (I'm assuming he wasn't already a teacher when she was murdered)

cheapskatemum · 25/07/2018 21:18

The Mel "Hollis" could have been James Hollis' mistress, using his surname for the sake of the rental? It means his friends and their kids were in on the affair though.

southeastdweller · 25/07/2018 21:28

Mel is definitely James’s ex-wife.

diddl · 25/07/2018 21:30

"The Mel "Hollis" could have been James Hollis' mistress,"

His ex wife is called Mel.

cheapskatemum · 25/07/2018 21:37

Strange that she was the only woman listed, separate to her husband, or would it have been because he was the named renter?

diddl · 26/07/2018 07:59

If he is the named renter & they are his guests-then who is Mel's +1?

Elliott?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 26/07/2018 09:18

I found it strange that they just listed some of the guests, at the rental property, as +1, +2, +3... (rather than by name). Thought it usual to list everyone? Presumably this is artistic 'TV' licence (or is it license?) for the purposes of highlighting the suspects?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/07/2018 21:41

@helena I missed the twins bit

Where did it say that?

Identical - any chance they swapped places ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/07/2018 21:50

DOEs seem weird that he didn’t use his name and put wife’s down on the booking

The bf - was he a teacher then when he met Hayley - if he was 23 to her 16

diddl · 27/07/2018 10:20

"The bf - was he a teacher then when he met Hayley - if he was 23 to her 16"

I wondered that.

Was he even her teacher?

He's not connected to the other 4 is he?

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/07/2018 15:50

Ah. At the parents house sister said they were identical twins

Violetroselily · 27/07/2018 22:30

Twins switching places would be the obvious plotline, although I'm not sure it could work with the metal plate in the broken arm

DuggeesWoggle · 28/07/2018 14:49

I have caught up with this after breakfast nge watching the first 2 series on Now tv. Love Nicola Walker's character, it's lovely to see a detective who has real compassion for the victims and their families rather than just seeing them as a problem to be solved. Thankfully I have never been on this situation but I thought the scenes in all 3 series where she is interviewing the families have been done with real sensitivity. I also love Sunny's character and would love them to have that smooch they nearly had in series 2. Her son is also a bit hot (albeit far too young for me).

I reckon that Hayley died in the holiday let after she joined in with the men's party and it all went wrong in some sex game involving strangling. Lovely bearded bloke did the deed, they all covered it up and Dr guy (LBB's brother) has been keeping it all covered up for years.

DuggeesWoggle · 28/07/2018 14:50

And what have I seen bearded artist's love interest in before?

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/07/2018 15:06

Wait, Alan Bennett and Hugo from the Vicar of Dibley are meant to be brothers?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 28/07/2018 15:07

@Violetroselily I agree, the plate makes it impossible.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 28/07/2018 15:12

I completely missed the twins bit

And that those two men are brothers

They aren't are they ? Different surnames

DuggeesWoggle · 28/07/2018 15:14

I don't know if they are brothers, I just assumed as I thought the Dr guy seemed like he was taking care of beareded artist as if he was his brother. I'm probably wrong Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/07/2018 17:23

I Think the 4 are just friends

Tho maybe bearded bloke (4weddings) covered up the murder hence why other bloke is there /helping him

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/07/2018 17:27

Plus the fact he doesn’t want a bank account - maybe he doesn’t exist as thinks he killed her but was really his friend

Lives in camper van - paints and money goes into sellers account

No paper trails

MorrisZapp · 28/07/2018 17:53

Aaaaarghhhhh!

I was on holiday when this began. Itv player only letting me have episode two.

Where can I watch episode one?

Signed,

Desperate

Violetroselily · 28/07/2018 18:23

Yes I think they're just friends, not brothers.

The bank account thing is odd, there must be some interesting backstory there.

Violetroselily · 28/07/2018 18:24

Episode 1 is on ITV Player for me - have you tried on your phone/laptop in addition to your TV?
