Starts on Sunday on ITV1.

Not sure about the paedo ring theory, purely because that was a key plot point last season.

And how would Tim get access to Chris's work computer? Chris was an ad exec in London and Tim was a GP in a small town.

I'm wondering if Elliot did hit Hayley and not a deer, with somebody else (pretending to help her?) killing her afterwards. Given their jobs and respective duties to society, if John Bentley or Dr Finch were responsible for her murder that would add a pretty nasty twist. In terms of guilt and innocence, it feels like it won't be a straightforward case of just one person's actions resulting in the murder.

Clawdy · 17/08/2018 17:46

No way paedophile ring, that is such a cliche in dramas now.

cobwebsinthebelfry · 18/08/2018 12:22

I still thinks it was about drugs and the BF and someone at the pub like the landlord was also involved. Then there is the flashback with blood, a hospital gown and a bank card which I want explained because I can't do it Grin

I also wonder what the reason was that that particular cottage was chosen in the first place? Were they all wife/husband swappers perhaps? They were all certainly friendly enough to be prepared to share a house with only 2 loos (apparently) for 11 or so people for several days. (The house floor layout was shown when they visited the letting agent).

Maybe the true nature of the group's relationships lies in the men's experiences at school all those years ago. Perhaps one of the wives was there too and was very unimpressed but bided her time.

YeTalkShiteHen · 18/08/2018 13:34

My new theory (which completely ignores the spoiler in the RT) is that:

Elliot’s Mum killed Hayley, and Jamie suspecting Elliot all these years suited her perfectly. Either because Hayley tried it on with Jamie or Elliot I think.

Now she’s trying to pin it on her XH.

southeastdweller · 18/08/2018 14:58

Just repeating my theories that have nothing to do with spoilers I've seen anywhere: it's one big red herring that Chris, Pete, Rob and Tim are suspects in the murder because it's too obvious. Tomorrow we find out that cuddly Chris is a paedophile, possibly by his fiancee seeing him touch her son or him breaking down in a police interview so that means that all four are each guilty of something really horrible. Monarch of the Glen had been grooming Hayley and she'd threatened to go to the police so he shut her up by murdering her. Cassie is diagnosed with early onset dementia and resigns from her job.

Still have no idea where the flashbacks come into it.

CoolCarrie · 18/08/2018 16:25

I think another body might turn up...

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/08/2018 17:27

Is there going to be a fourth season? Cassie won't be resigning anytime soon if there is!

ITV haven't said if there's going to be S4 yet, but I hope there will be.

YeTalkShiteHen · 18/08/2018 17:52

The format of Unforgotten is good enough that it could run and run, I hope there is to be a series 4.

EachandEveryone · 19/08/2018 10:09

Do you think it could be the teacher afterall?

southeastdweller · 19/08/2018 10:10

No, because he’s barely featured so far.

YeTalkShiteHen · 19/08/2018 10:27

See that makes me think they may pull him in and make it him because he’s not had his backstory given yet!

southeastdweller · 19/08/2018 10:54

But viewers would feel cheated because we haven’t got to ‘know’ him. He’s also not played by anyone well-known.

buttybuttybutthole · 19/08/2018 11:27

Oh no. We had all forgotten about the teacher

RhythmStix · 19/08/2018 13:29

Ok so maybe my paedophile ring idea is not so good. My dh is convinced the remaining twin sister is involved....

cobwebsinthebelfry · 19/08/2018 14:25

SEdweller

I think I'm going to stop watching programmes where I don't recognise the actors, particularly young ones, the cheeky buggers - trying to confuse me Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/08/2018 16:30

I’m working tonight so won’t see till tomorrow

Will avoid this thread

Graphista · 19/08/2018 16:40

Having seen the trailer for tonight's episode - no spoilers - but have some ideas and can't wait!

lazymum99 · 19/08/2018 17:45

I sort of don't want it to end. Like when you've nearly finished a really good book. I'm worried that the ending is going to be an anti climax. But five not seen a trailer and from what Graphista says I shouldn't be disappointed.

YeTalkShiteHen · 19/08/2018 18:30

I’m actually sad enough I’m looking forward to having all 6 recorded and binge watching them Blush I find rewatching means I pick up things I missed the first time!

Graphista · 19/08/2018 18:30

I hate when a good show ends too (and it's always too soon with uk programmes as the seasons are so short! Lucky if you get 8 episodes! Whereas with American you can get up to 24, with Australian 16-20. U.K. Programme makers PLEASE make longer seasons).

There's also the ridiculous situation in the uk where the show isn't immediately replaced - we'll get crappy sports or list shows or poor documentaries for a few weeks first - why?

TheOnlyLivingMumInNewCross · 19/08/2018 19:48

I've loved every series so far and this one is no exception. The acting is just brilliant.
I don't think it was the Doctor, I think his daughters will finally see how awful and controlling he was to their mum but that's it.
I don't think any of the men did it at all.
My theory is, the sister was jealous of her more vibrant, naughty and popular twin. They had a disagreement on the way to the party, had a fight of some sort and Hayley died.
Then, after Elliot taking the car, and hitting a deer, his mum went out looking for the animal to dispose of it, found Hayley and assumed, incorrectly, he had hit and killed her. They then put her body in the trailer, perhaps with the doctors help, hence the necklace and scrunchy he had as they were distinguishing items, and dumped her on the way home.
That's why the twin straight off asked where they found her, and why she collapsed in hysterics alone at the end of the 1st episode as she has lied for years and thought she was about to be collared. That's why she's become the dutiful daughter, living in her sisters shadow for ever.
That's my view anyway!

HannahnotAgnes · 19/08/2018 19:58

That sounds very plausible The.

southeastdweller · 19/08/2018 20:02

Agreed, that’s a very believable theory.
