I thought that AveA! 😁

Hogtini · 01/08/2018 23:31

I took the 'pay day' to mean blackmail too.

Hogtini · 01/08/2018 23:33

And yes loved the nod to Columbo too Grin

lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 02/08/2018 06:01

Yep ‘and another thing’ 😂

DuggeesWoggle · 02/08/2018 07:52

She's done it to quite a few interviewees so far, I noticed that!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/08/2018 13:30

I still think the doc did it

Must be something about the twins or why else say they are identical

Maybe they did swap places even in holiday so wrong twin got named?

I thought sonny was being helpful inviting new copper to drinks so that his boss could see him in the evening without asking for a date

Hence why he said you are welcome - being sarky as she didn’t appreciate it

In flashbacks it looked like a Chinese girl was there as well - so could the blogger be her?

Renting a cottage and having a night in isn’t weird. All friends spending nye together with drinks and kids so couldn’t go to a pub easily so saying they didn’t go out did seem
Plausible to me

DNA as found blood at the break in so guess checking none of the men

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/08/2018 13:31

Plus sonny’s backpack has swabs /dns testing stuff in it

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/08/2018 14:00

Nice of Sunny to invite the Monarch of the Glen out for drinks - it was pretty obvious that he and Cassie were intrigued by each other!

OP posts:
Hogtini · 02/08/2018 14:11

Yes I liked Sunny for that, he could see the signs and was helping them along.

RightOnTheEdge · 02/08/2018 14:39

How can the twins have swapped places with the broken arm/plate thing?
And are people saying the parents are in on it or have something to do with it?
Why would they swap their daughters?

I don't have identical twins so I dont have experience but surely the parents would recognise their own twins if they swapped wouldn't they?
Unless they're Molly Weasley.

Graphista · 02/08/2018 17:29

A night in not unusual no - but a QUIET night in - giving the impression all they did was watch a movie and not really celebrate the millennium - nah load of nonsense.

Saffkat · 02/08/2018 19:20

Let's say surviving twin is actually Hayley. Her twin (possibly seen as the good or golden child) died on NYE and Hayley knew that immediately. She then decided to reinvent herself as good twin and pretend it was Hayley who went missing. At the time the parents in their distress and grief would have not noticed, or would put any changes down to surviving twin being affected by her sisters disappearance.
Good (dead) twin had a plate in her arm age 7. The police called Hayley about it and she told them it was dead Hayley who had the plate, when really it was good twin. She then convinced parents it was Hayley who had the plate not good twin. The parents have been depicted as pretty out of it so I think they'd accept that story.
This theory is of course based on the police NOT having independent medical evidence about the plate - Do they?

lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 02/08/2018 19:42

Plausible saffkatt

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/08/2018 22:37

Yes I wonder if they swapped nye

One cleaned. Other in pub

Hates the 80’s but was Madonna

whenskiesaregreyRETURNS · 02/08/2018 23:03

Is no-one else disproportionately irritated by the random pauses, stuttered delivery of the female detective (sorry, shocking with names!)?

AveABanana · 03/08/2018 07:16

I don't think the surviving twin is Hayley - after all would you willingly give your teenaged diary to the police? However they could have swapped at the time so surviving twin did the cleaning/witnessed burglar/was in the pub/whatever and Hayley was killed as a result of that swap.

The pauses are..... noticeable. Is it to make her seem more sincere?

lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 03/08/2018 07:34

I like the pauses and the stutter - she is thinking. Mind you in my eyes she can do no wrong.

Saffkat · 03/08/2018 08:04

Or possibly Hayley did the cleaning but surviving twin pretended to be her and did the bar work, which completely throws out any alibis arising from Hayley being in the pub that night?

Clawdy · 03/08/2018 08:11

There is no way the parents would think one twin was the other. There are always differences in skin, hair, bodies, even with identical twins.

tamsinconditions · 03/08/2018 08:53

It could be that the parents do know about the twins pretending to be each other and therefore there's an element of blaming themselves for whatever befell Hayley/other twin.

GravyMilkshake · 03/08/2018 09:02

I think the pauses when added to the realistic dialogue are what makes her character so believable.

DuggeesWoggle · 03/08/2018 09:38

DH reckons the old 'twin swap' plotline is happening but I really hope he's wrong - it's just so implausible. I have known several sets of identical twins and whilst I have sometimes got names mixed up they are never so alike that their own parents couldn't tell them apart. It would only be believable if it was from the angle of the parents being in on it, letting Hayley take her sister's place or something like that.

Violetroselily · 03/08/2018 09:40

The cleaning wasn't on NYE was it? I'm sure they said it was a couple of days beforehand

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/08/2018 09:57

The twin swap might mean though that the dead twin was murdered instead of her sister - a case of mistaken identity in the events leading up to the death.

Are you sure the 'credit card' wasn't to do with drugs?

I agree that Elliot could have been severely traumatised by something that he witnessed from that holiday.

RightOnTheEdge · 04/08/2018 00:09

I really hope the twin swap thing doesn't happen. It's just daft. It makes no sense.

She sounded really sincere to me when she talked about her sister and gave the diary. I thought that was a really good scene with someone just missing her sister and saying she wasn't perfect but she loved her. I like her character, I hope she's not dodgy.
