I often think Alex is actually quite stupid, a Dr he may be but surely many people through repetition, privilege, the right tutoring and a good memory, can achieve this?

I'm not saying its easy! but i hate they way lots of people, especially women, can be like 'oh, i'm not smart enough to be a Dr' when actually they probably are! it's just through circumstances and not having the support of privilege needed that they are not.

My mother was a nurse and she says so many of them knew so much more then the Dr's anyway, sometime I think working in 'un-skilled' jobs is harder then being a Dr in many ways, and requires a lot of intelligence too

Coming into this soooo late!! I’m down under and watching, loving it!! I really don’t like Megan, to me she knows exactly what she’s doing, when she asked Wes to kiss her (begged really) she knew she was destroying Laura and she simply didn’t care... watch her now the new men have gone in, she will be like a dog on heat and show her true colours!!

I agree Samira is naturally beautiful, I’m not keen on her but she is very pretty. I thought from the very outset, that she wasn’t being chosen because of her colour. She comes across as very confident, so I hope she doesn’t see it the way some of us do, it’s the stupid boys loss eh?!

And Megan..well they don’t see a beautiful young women, they see what she portrays..she’s incredibly provocative, massively insecure I’d say

@DaffoDeffo so true, I know plenty of men who would think she was a knock out and would actually think her 'flirting' was just a really confident and funny woman being friendly and approachable. They would treat her like a princess, I don't know where this thing of women acting a certain way constitutes 'flirting' now.

Surly flirting can be just acting the way you feel safe and secure and beautiful

Re Megan, I don't think any one of the boys would happily take her home to meet the parents, especially when they see the media when they get out.

champoopapi I actually agree with you. The most intelligent person I know has an unskilled job and didn't go to university. A tanning shop assistant and a dr do seem an unlikely pairing but you never know.

Yes the new guys were going on about Megan's body and it's quite clearly very fake. So depressing.

there's more than one type of intellect I think. The studying type and the common sense/real life type. Some people are lucky enough to have both, some people have one or the other. I think Alex is obviously bright as he wouldn't be a Dr but he doesn't have a lot of common sense/real life intellect iyswim! He doesn't read situations very well bless him!

I would like to add my thoughts on Samira to this discussion.

I personally think she is extremely attractive looks wise. She is also crucially very intelligent. She is also - professionally at the top of her game. She mentioned being in the West End, she had a lead role.

Alex too is good looking, intelligent and at the top of his game in his career. Does it get any better than an A&E Doctor at his age?

I think they have BOTH entered a world where the others simply cannot connect with them.

We are talking about some of the contestants here that do not have any similar experiences. Some of them do not have real jobs and are really gunning for reality careers and that is all there is to them. Empty and pointless and way too young to have made any headway in the world.

Samira and Alex are unable to fake it in this game, and the others can't fake it with them. They are both normal and nice and are real - either of them would be an amazing friend or an amazing partner IN REAL LIFE.

I think that's why the cringe factor is so high when Samira and Alex try to seduce because they can't fake it.

I am haunted by Alex saying to a new love interest last week, "Yes.... so I'm a Doctor, I work in A&E...........and stuff"

He was trying to be like the others so he dialled back on revealing his authentic self, mid sentence!

So to recap, Samira IS attractive, it's just the reality show game that's not working out in her favour (and Alex too). It's not their world. That is all. In MHO

Alex seems to be one of those people who just doesn’t get social stuff, he has clearly learnt social skills rather than things coming naturally and copies to fit in. When they were in the diary room (or what ever the LI version is called) when they moved all the guys were chanting stuff like ‘do bits’, you could see he was a step behind and just trying to fit in where as the others were into it

To be fair I would feel ridiculous chanting 'do bits.' He just needs to be authentic to himself. That would make him more attractive.

I would feel stupid chanting that too, I don’t understand why he is in there and what he wanted for it. Good luck to him returning to work with the drunks in a&e too! There must be a completely different side to him we don’t see, I can’t imagine him taking control and running a trauma or something from the Alex we see on LI

Yes I agree with Escape - the points of reference for Alex and Samira probably are pretty similar but with the wannabes they are miles away.

Alex’s social skills are not geared to being “one of the lads” - but that only makes him a bit socially inept in those circumstances- he’d probably be fine in a less laddish situation.

Absolutely, Megan tried to do the awkward geeky shit specifically to pull wes, it was cringe because it was so fake but it definitely didn't put him off.

To be honest, I don’t know any intelligent woman that would find any of those blokes (except Alex) worth putting in any effort for. As long term partners they don’t seem to have much longevity.

I don’t think Alex has social problems, just that these guys are total ‘lads’ with ‘banter’

She hasn't had lead roles, she has had ensemble roles and was an understudy for a small role.

She also left mid contract to do LI and is in trouble for that.

All the above I got from a tabloid website, but I didn't even know she was a West End performer until you said so I looked it up.

This year is very blah blah blah.

I feel for Dani and Jack as he's clearly been set up with his ex or whatever you want to call her.

I got the impression from the short convo last night that Ellie 2 was really into Jack still but Jack not into her. Sounds like he used her a bit as just slept with her when he broke up wih his ex girlfriend. I don't think Dani needs to worry.
