Just watched. Ugh what a sad position for Samira! I half hope it isn't her and frankie kissing, especially after that knock back, I want her to have more confidence in herself that she doesn't have to sell out and kiss someone just so she stays. However I want her to stay to have an opportunity to find someone that adores her. My opinion's beginning to change on Megan since that chat with Samira, she seems to be self aware and it's also sad in a way. I'm gutted for Georgia, hope she doesn't get booted.
That said I'd hope the islanders have toughened up their skin in preparation.

Didn't all the guy choose Ellie as well though? And she's pretty natural.

I know Megan seemed self aware but she’s quite happy to play on her looks & be smug that she “won” Wes away from Laura so I’m not sure why it makes a difference.

It seems that the boys hold all the power this year, all dumpings include girls.

When are we going to see the girls in charge? It's frustrating to see girls like Samira having to do the 'pick me' dance, she's so much better than that, and she knows it.

It's always they boys' exes that they send in too. Never ex boyfriends of the girls. It's always about making the girls sweat. I season 1 (?) they sent in two of Jordan's ex girlfriends.

I don’t think there is a ‘right place’ for Alex. If he was around people who were more intelligent his chat would seem even worse.

How does it work? The girls choose next dont they? What about the new girls? What if ellie2 chooses jack?
Do all the new people stay or do they only pick a few?

Last year all old islanders got to choose.

The girls sat by the fire pit with newbies lined up (I think) and said if they wanted to stay in their old couple or recouple with a newbie. Then the old couple boy walked in either alone (signalling he wanted to stay in old couple) or with a newbie. If one wants to stay on old couple but the other recouple with a newbie then the one that wanted to stay is effectively single and dumped.

Basically they need to choose the same outcome as their old partner to stay. Dani and jack would choose each other and stay, Wes and Laura would choose new people and stay, josh would choose a newbie and Georgia would choose josh so she would be dumped.

They might make changes this year including allowing Wes to go for Megan which they didn’t allow last year (or need).

I wonder if Alex’s chat is so bad and awkward because he’s trying to dumb it down and fit in? I wonder if in his normal circle of friends he’d talk about politics, culture the state of the nhs, world affairs etc and the fact he’s trying to be something he’s not is making him this awkward cringe guy as he just doesn’t know what to say. Maybe he thinks, I can’t ask Charlie about her views on trump so what can I say, I must say something... “you sound like a farmer.”

Who says Charlie doesn't have views on Trump? Alex to me is socially inept with little emotional intelligence, trying to fit in with the lads at 27 .

No. That's not usually how it works. They are given the choice of coupling up with one of the new people or returning to the villa single.

IF they return single then what matters is what the person they are officially coupled up with has done. I.e. Laura and Wes are still officially coupled. If Laura has paired up with a new guy and Wes returns single. He will get the boot. Simple as.

It is 100% irrelevant to him what Megan does. If he wants to stay he will have to pair with a new girl. Because Laura sure as hell won't decouple with him.

Basically the choice isn't 'pick anyone' it's only 'pick a new girl' vs 'stay with Laura'

Not saying Charlie doesn’t have views in trump. Just that Alex maybe feels he can’t talk about those thing s as nobody else does. So he’s scared to start a conversation like that in case he gets a blank response and labels himself as a geek/need/boring. Just theorising!

That's a point readysetcake. I find it hard to believe that conversations like that never take place. Maybe they're edited out as the producers don't think that's what people want to see, they'd rather show giggly dimness - fuck knows why.

Yeah I can’t get my head around producers only showing”where’s your head at” conversations. Surely showing normal conversation gives us a better idea of how people interact and get on. And probably more entertaining as that phrase is starting to grate.

It's definitely editing. They have what... 16 hours of general chat to fit into 1 hour of show. Obviously they prioritise the conversations which are the most relevant to actual relationship dynamics and throw in any they think are entertaining enough.

We know that the girls had a least a brief chat about Brexit. But we only got shown it because of Haylie's dumb comment about the trees.

I am certain we wouldn't have been shown Sam and Ellie2's discussion about animals if it hadn't been for her spectacularly thick views on which meats come from which animals.

It was far more interesting last year - with more random conversations, and Olivia certainly not "dressing up" all the time and not always trying to be attractive.
I didn't think I'd miss her strops.

Everyone is trying too hard, and the editing is odd or they are incredibly boring/intense this year.

They need some non sexual challenges - more like the festival one.

Casa Amour was new last year - they can tweak the rules however they want - and should, nothing should be that predictable.

And it's always the girls shown making daft comments - makes me uncomfortable.

If the producers want Georgia to stay they will send her a photo of Josh and Kaz. They did this last year with Kem and Amber as Amber was staying loyal to Kem whilst he was cracking on with another girl so if she hadn't picked a new boy she would have gone home. And Kem and Amber ended up back together and winning the show.

Love Jack and Dani staying loyal to each other and fretting about the other.

I think they will have to do it that the originals from both villas will pick, otherwise the game wouldn't work would it?

endoftether82 Apparently, Ellie1 had £5K of work done before going into the villa, including lip and cheek fillers so not entirely natural.
