I remember being scared of the rabies one too! Also Watcher In the Woods, which I watched again a couple of years ago and was rather disappointed in it!

Also an episode of Dr Who with Tom Baker and there's a ship and mists and people came out all slashed. And this might be the same one or a different one but I think of it as the leper ship. I was very scared of leprosy as a child!!

Another one was when I was having trouble sleeping and I sat downstairs with my parents. It was a murder mystery about a woman being kidnapped and buried with just a tube or something to breath through. Anyway, they find her in the end and pull her out and she's all dirty in a long nighty or dress thing like a ghost and makes this horrible sound taking a breath in I assume. Scared the crap out of me.

Well thanks for this thread - just read through it and remembered lots of things that scared the crap out of me, but i had managed to forget about .
Christopher Lee as Dracula in those crappy Hammer Horror films - can't watch 'em now.

mishw · 23/05/2007 09:48

peppermintstick - I remember that film - I'm still scared of being buried alive and have insisted on being cremated when I die rather than buried.

I remember another film with a woman taking a bath and someone pulling her legs so she goes under the water and drowns - hated baths after that one, though have managed to get over that!

Really must stop looking at this thread now!

joash · 23/05/2007 09:58

Not from when I was a kid - but recently watched a really dire film caled "Boogeyman" (or something) scared the crap out of me and I still can't walk past the top of the stairs in the dark in case it's at the bottom.

yaddayah · 23/05/2007 10:26

Threads ! I freaked out watching that !
When they're watching kids tv right near the end

And the mum spooning cereal into the dead girls bowl

eughhh nightmares

The watcher in the woods . didn't that have Bette Davis in it ? Still a bit scared if we're out and the wind blows the leaves!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 23/05/2007 10:42

I remember seeing a book cover in Martins when I was about 9 which said 'Slime. You'll never feel safe in your bath again' and there was a picture of a woman sitting up screaming covered in red slimy things.

And they were right - I never did feel safe in my bath again, or not for about 10 years, and I never even opened the freakin' book.

Olivebranch · 23/05/2007 11:04

The Cybermen from Dr. Who they completely freaked me. I can still see them walking out of the tunnels on the underground.. It took all my willpower to watch the modern day Cybermen on the new Dr. Who.

oopsiedoopsie · 23/05/2007 11:33

OMG too many to mention.. but..

Wurzel Gummdige taking his head off.
The Hulk
Doctor Who
Poltergeist (saw this waay to young)
The Omen..

I could go on, I'm amazed I survived to adul hood without any psychosis twitch

anotherbadmother · 23/05/2007 12:45

There was an animated kids program that might have been called Wheelie World. There was a witch that used to pop up out of the ground, and I think she had evil mushroom helpers. Chilling.

Poltergeist. Clowns eeeegh!
Freddie Kruger!

Washersaurus · 23/05/2007 12:54

That was 'Chulton and the Wheelies' or something similar wasn't it?

FLIER · 23/05/2007 13:28

Chortle and the wheelies that witch WAS scary.

oopsiedoopsie · 23/05/2007 13:46

Finella was scary, I agree

mishw · 23/05/2007 14:18

Fenella the witch used to make me laugh and then I would trase my little sister as she was (is!) called Fenella

talcyoyo · 23/05/2007 14:46

lol at chorlton and the wheelies

Saw the fog when i was young....

also some michael caine film, the hand, i think?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 23/05/2007 14:48

ooh I loved Chorlton and the Wheelies

I was freaked out by the Day of the Triffids dramatisation . Had nightmares about giant flowers in our garden chasing me for years after that.

talcyoyo · 23/05/2007 14:49

they made a horrid rattle noise

OP posts:
talcyoyo · 23/05/2007 14:53

the man on 'picture box' was a bit unnerving also...

OP posts:
Flame · 23/05/2007 14:53

A Dr Who (I think Sylvester Macoy) - there were these big bubble things that you got caught in and then they popped and you died.

Another one scared sh*tless by Ghostwatch.

A Miss Marple where there was a woman in a house, and she had been there as a child - there was a gardener with weed killer involved

Daleks too - they still freak me out now actually ... I think it is residual childhood fear comes out. Psychomum has a remote controlled one and I feel like I want to run and hide behind the sofa from it!!!

Ripeberry · 23/05/2007 14:54

The one i remember was an old Frankeinstein horror film where the hand was crawling along the floor and tried to strangle the Professor.
I had sneaked out of my bedroom to watch it and it gave me nightmares for years... serves my right! :0.

Ripeberry · 23/05/2007 14:55

Oh, yes and the other one, "The forbiden planet" where the invisible alien tries to get through the forcefield.
Think my imagination made the monster much scarier than it actually was!
AB

talcyoyo · 23/05/2007 14:57

SuperGran was rather scary....
but for other reasons

Oh, and metal mickey,

and mork and mindy...
