Anyone else counting the hours 'til Friday? Saga banged up and stitched up for the murder of her evil mama; how will she cope? Come on Henrik, save our girl!

OP posts:
NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 22/06/2018 09:35

That she doesn't help Henrik find his daughters.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 22/06/2018 10:03

But would it be fair to say that her attempts to rescue don't always work? I mean, look at her sister. For a start I'd love to know what really was happening at home - her mother was never diagnosed with Munchhausen's by proxy, that was Saga's take on it. So maybe her sister didn't actually need rescuing: Saga destroyed her family for no reason. And if her mother was innocent, her reactions afterwards (even, maybe, framing Saga for her murder) are understandable.

She's destroyed the family with the baby in this series by pointing out the genetic issues. I think she wants to help, but often fails.

The abortion maybe ties in with this. She was attempting to rescue her relationship with Henrik by killing their child.

That's not to say I don't love her to bits, but I wonder if that's the pattern the therapist was talking about.

In which case, maybe, when she realises the connection between Astrid and Henrik she doesn't step in, but lets Henrik work it out for himself. And maybe, by breaking the pattern, it still manages to go wrong..... Or not.....

basquiatfan · 22/06/2018 10:32

Yes I think it's fair to say her rescuing doesn't always work. I'm not sure she can easily relate to people in any other way. When she was suspended from work after her mother's death she was suicidal. Henrik helped her and gave her a new mission in life to find his daughters.

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 12:50

I would far rather believe Saga when she talks about her sister. Her death devastated her.

And remember those photos that her mother left, showing Saga's face cut out of every single one? That's not the sign of a normal, happy woman. No wonder Saga had problems, with that kind of family life.

I think her sister was the first person she loved and the loss of her has stayed with her throughout her life. That's why I'm hoping she drives off into the sunset with Astrid (assuming she's Henrik's daughter) so that she gets the chance to have a new family.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 22/06/2018 14:35

Just to play Devil's advocate, though:

Saga could be seen to be an unreliable narrator. The case re Munchhausen's by proxy was never proved, so let's assume her mother is innocent.

Due to Saga's invented story of sexual abuse, both parents ended up in prison. Can't have been a pleasant experience being known as child molesters both when inside, and on their release. They lose custody of Jennifer, and then lose her to suicide whilst in the care of Saga (who is the cause of the whole situation). Then the father dies (not sure if we know the details). Surely, if you were the mother, cutting out Saga's face from the photos is understandable. Especially if you know you are innocent in all this. Even setting her up for your own murder isn't too much, hoping she'll finally suffer for the hurt she's caused you. And knowing it's your own child who has done this to you...wow!

I wonder if we'll ever learn the truth of Saga's childhood, and what really went on there.

And, as I say, I'm not sure I'm necessarily convinced by it, but it is another angle to cover.

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 16:11

It's a nice theory, but it's not one I'm going for! The whole thing about Saga is that she tells the truth. She finds it almost impossible to lie. Her face gives away every feeling.

For her to have invented stories of sexual abuse against her parents would go against everything she is. She's never been malicious or spiteful. She's always been brutally honest. There's never been a hint that her mother was nice - she was appalling when she was on screen. We saw how terrified Saga was of her.

We only have two hours left - that's not enough time to turn every conception we have of Saga on its head!

However, we DID see Henrik change character after Saga's abortion. Yes, everyone felt for him, but he was cruel to her and that was a side we'd never seen before. That's why I wonder whether Henrik was cruel to his wife and that's why she left him.

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 16:13

And I can't imagine what my child would have to do to me for me to cut out her face from photographs and leave those photographs for her in my Will. That is beyond cruelty.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 22/06/2018 16:21

But Saga admitted she made up the story about sexual abuse to get Jennifer, because nobody would believe her about the Munchhausen's. I can't remember when, but I'm 99% certain she told someone this (maybe Martyn...?).

ScoobyGangMember · 22/06/2018 16:41

Those who think Henrik has another side and his wife ran away to CCG. Could she and Henrik have fallen out because she got pregnant and had an abortion?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 22/06/2018 16:53

I like that idea, Scooby!

AGnu · 22/06/2018 17:08

Saga tells her truth, not necessarily the same thing as objective reality.

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 19:15

I don't remember Saga saying that to Martin - will have to go back to the beginning and watch them all, now.

I know Saga tells her truth, but that's different from what was suggested above, that she'd made everything up.

Oh I'm getting too involved - I'm getting upset on Saga's behalf here!

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 20:52

I'm sitting here with my brännvin and pickled herrings, waiting....

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 20:58

Bloody typical - missed call from my daughter - what's the bet she needs picking up?

PurpleDaisies · 22/06/2018 21:00

Checking in for tonight’s episode. I am nervous for saga.

helzapoppin2 · 22/06/2018 21:07

Run Kristofer Run!

Surelyyoudontmeanthat · 22/06/2018 21:58

oh no - run Astrid and Henrik run! the last episode is going to be tense...

hmm, and techy computer lady is looking a bit strangely at Lillian.

aldaniti · 22/06/2018 22:05

It was annoying me how everyone was still telling Saga to be careful when they all know Henrik's just got his daughter back, ffs.

We already know it was pa lady's phone the girls stole but obviously they didn't. I can't remember why it was so important though. Will have to read back!

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 22:05

Oh that was a great episode! Did anyone else cry when Astrid came out of the house?

aldaniti · 22/06/2018 22:12

Ah ok, she told the police her wallet was stolen (which had her I'd) phone wasn't hers. Hmmm!

aldaniti · 22/06/2018 22:13

And yes I cried!

Melamin · 22/06/2018 22:14

I can't remember why the phone was so important either. It had been used to phone someone, and not by the asylum chappie.

anonymice · 22/06/2018 22:15

Saga is my best friend sniff. What if it is both Susanne and Kevin are both doing it ?

anonymice · 22/06/2018 22:15

The phone had tracking software on it to track Margarethe Thormod.

HollowTalk · 22/06/2018 22:16

Wasn't it the phone that had called Magrette (sp?), the one who was stoned to death?
