Apologies if there has already been an actual thread, I couldn't see one except for talking about the fact it was coming up.

Has any one watched yet? What did you think?

If I'm honest I might be a bit disappointed. The bit I found the most interesting was the fact that they were collecting DNA from park guests!

I liked the bit where they found the tiger, very polar bear/Lost esque! Obviously from another park but what is it doing there?

Can't wait to hear everyone's theories, I really enjoyed last year's thread about S1!

Thanks for sharing, bakingdemon! About to get stuck into the comments!

But re this..

' Also present is William’s wife, the actual Delos heir, who we have not met before. What has happened to the young daughter who is with her? The daughter would now be an adult in the later timeline; could it be Charlotte Hale or someone we are yet to meet?'

Am I missing something? The little girl was white with blond hair and Charlotte is black. I'm a bit confused. Although I think it's a given she will pop up later as an adult if she hasn't already.

The Guardian recap was a bit crap and quite inaccurate as shown with the Charlotte comment. The comments are quite good.

busyboysmum · 02/05/2018 00:50

Urgh am not enjoying this season. It's taking itself way too seriously. FFS you're a bunch of robots in a theme park. Stop staring meaningfully off into the distance and talking in a solemn voice. Needs to lighten up a bit IMO.

bakingdemon · 02/05/2018 09:10

@ToffeeUp yeah, the recaps are always quite dodgy so I go there for the comments. It's the same on their Game of Thrones blogs. The reviewers watch it at 2am (when it goes out simultaneously in the U.K. and US) and do the write up so quickly afterwards that they miss quite a lot.

Donteatthekidssweets · 02/05/2018 21:09

I loved it, just finished watching. Did I miss something about Wyatt being ‘put’ into Delores? Missed seeing more of what was happening to Bernard in the bunker in the post massacre timeline. Also I think they must be collecting data/dna for blackmail purposes or maybe replacing people in the ‘real’ world for political/power reasons? What do we think?

JuicyLucy72 · 02/05/2018 22:46

I've just watched episode 2, I think they're collecting the DNA/Data and cloning it to implant into the robots to create the more human like robots capable of memory and conscience. I think Arnold used his son's DNA to create Delores and that's why he is very paternal to her and how he found the found the key ingredient that him and Robert were searching for. In season 1 it showed the first batches of robots were to mechanical and Arnold and Robert discussing it/testing. My theory is Arnold wanted to be the next evolution of the human race free from pain and the realities of life, where people can just erase trauma etc and heal/never die.

I think when Arnold and Robert had to take on investment for the park to survive they didn't tell them what the robots were really capable of having memory etc as it takes the non repercussion/guilt of what humans do to them, side of the game that westworld was originally meant to be.

But Delos want the robots to replace the general human population to control and create the perfect world, where they would be in charge. I think william knows the plan and that's why he is trying to get to the weapon he created to destroy it all before it happens.

ParadiseLaundry · 02/05/2018 22:56

'My theory is Arnold wanted to be the next evolution of the human race free from pain and the realities of life, where people can just erase trauma etc and heal/never die.'

This makes sense, I hadn't thought of it like that. Although quite ironic that when Ford made Bernard he included all of the painful memories of his son dying meaning his replica had to go on reliving it unnecessarily!

OP posts:
JuicyLucy72 · 02/05/2018 23:46

Good point he may have done that to hide the fact he had made arnold into a host or perhaps all the hosts could have cloned or implanted real human brains and certain traumatic memories can't be erased like Arnold's son and Maeve with her daughter.

Certainly interesting to see how the story unfolds.

ParadiseLaundry · 03/05/2018 14:54

Rewatching E2 and noticed the bit where Meave asked Teddy if he feels free and he had a pained look on his face. I think the hosts at the end of E1 including Teddy who were dead in the sea have committed suicide as they can't deal with what is now their reality. Perhaps they think they will be reconditioned and can go back to living their lives without knowing the truth. Maybe Bernard says he killed them because he feels responsible somehow? Or he is covering for someone.

Also I wonder where Felix and Sylvester are(anyone else noticed they are both named after cartoon cats 🤔?) Could Meave have helped them escape?

OP posts:
ParadiseLaundry · 03/05/2018 15:02

@Donteatthekidssweets Arnold programmed the Wyatt character into Dolores so she would kill him and the park would not open IIRC, someone else correct me if this isn't right!

I think that's a good call on the DNA, they keep mentioning 'recording experiences' too which is an odd phrase to use.

Donteatthekidssweets · 03/05/2018 16:09

Are Felix and Sylvester the two from the lab? Yes I wondered about them too. Meave is my favourite character, surely she can’t spent another espisode looking for her ‘daughter’, there must be more to it?

busyboysmum · 07/05/2018 23:37

Has anyone seen episode 3 yet? I actually really enjoyed it much more than enjoyed one and two. I especially liked seeing the new park.

ParadiseLaundry · 08/05/2018 06:16

Yes! The Rajworld was the most exciting bit for me. At least we know how the tiger got there now.

I was just thinking at the end when the woman was surrounded by Ghost Nation we never saw how Ashley got away from them after he was kidnapped. Was there an explanation of what they are exactly in S1? I can't remember.

OP posts:
rumbelina · 08/05/2018 06:51

I think Charlotte said in ep 2 that the sea shouldn’t be there?? I wondered if the ‘one use’ code that Bernard found in Peter Abernathy was to release the sea and that’s why they all drowned and Bernard said ‘I killed them’ (at the end of ep 1)

I bloody love it even though I have barely a clue what’s going on!

bakingdemon · 08/05/2018 11:28

I loved how even though they teed up the Samurai world, the first other world they showed us was a totally different one, and one which wasn't in the original movie either. The girl who was captured by the Shadow Nation is clearly up to something with that map in her notebook - I hope we find out what.

BeyondParody · 08/05/2018 11:43

Marking my place :)

rumbelina · 08/05/2018 15:06

I reckon she's William's daughter, bakingdemon

ParadiseLaundry · 08/05/2018 15:16

I thought that could be the case but I couldn't help thinking she bore quite a resemblance to Teresa from S1. Not just in looks but in mannerisms when she was smoking. And her accent was similar.

It also crossed my mind that there could be not just two timelines but several, including through S1 too but we just don't know it yet. Some of the scenes when Bernard was looking through the old computers in S1 still seem a bit out of place, the technology and branding even looked a bit old fashioned from the period of time when William was young. And remember that old cowboy host who Ford used to like drinking with (and then he put himself away Grin)? He seemed very primitive and mechanical compared to Dolores and Angela from the 30 years earlier timeline that we've seen. Sorry if thats a bit rambling Smile

OP posts:
ParadiseLaundry · 08/05/2018 15:19

Also am I right in thinking that we got the sense that Bernard had harmed Elsie but we never saw definitively? Someone on another forum said she was amongst the Delos picture cards that the woman looked through when they found Bernard.

AlanRickmansRightFoot · 08/05/2018 15:50

This is a very good recap, of everything from Season 1 in the right chronological order, rather than the order we saw it in.

Gave me a few ohhhh moments.

AlanRickmansRightFoot · 08/05/2018 15:52

Answers to a few recent questions in this thread in that YouTube recap.

Bowlofbabelfish · 08/05/2018 15:55

My theory is that the worlds were made as a sort of modern Facebook - guests will do what they will and then be marketed to, or blackmailed and manipulated in the outside world. But they also have a deeper purpose in immortality.

I also think the word ‘host’ is a big clue - perhaps specific people are being recreated on the outside so they can be controlled for purposes yet unknown. Or they are developing technology to effectively make people immortal by downloading consciousness

The biggest leap would seem to be transferring an existing consciousness into a host body - remember how Abernathy freaked out when he saw the photo of the modern world in S1? I think that will come into play.

The worlds are basically developing consciousness in the hosts - the recall of memory and getting away from programmed routines have been a theme throughout. There must be some kind of breakthrough they needed. And it must have happened because we have already seen ford uploaded into the host/park system, right?

bakingdemon · 08/05/2018 17:10

@rumbelina oooo, that would be intriguing. We know he doesn't have a good relationship with his daughter, don't we?

@Bowlofbabelfish I think something along these lines is a good shout. There was that intriguing bit when the English guy in the Raj said the hosts didn't like the guests talking to each other and were clearly programmed to try and separate them. Maybe that's because it's harder to collect data on what two humans do together than when a human interacts with a host.

ToffeeUp · 08/05/2018 18:03

I watched it last night. Rajworld didn't seem that exciting to me, tea and tigers. The woman being William's daughter sounds interesting, as did the map she had. 6 different worlds then?

Really enjoying it so far!

rumbelina · 08/05/2018 20:20

Paradise yes! I did think it was Teresa when we first saw her from a distance now you mention it.
