Apologies if a dedicated thread has already been started on this.

Watching now.

Can’t see most of it as it is shot at night / in poor light conditions.

Anyone else watching?

So happy with one moment and one character's actions though! Good for him!

Sharpandshineyteeth · 17/04/2018 00:04

I loved it. I like the new direction it could go in.

Wish Eugene would have said something about killing Netan for Abe or had a reminder of him or something. I was a bit disbelieving that he would have gone against Negan at that point until I remembered how much he loved Abe.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 17/04/2018 00:28

Ooh yes what’s that about the Whisperers?

Was that meant to be an enormous horde of walkers then, that cloudy haze in the distance? Someone said ‘have you ever seen one that big?’

ZacharyQuack · 17/04/2018 05:13

I thought it was dumb.

It was dumb of Rick's group to be all bunched up together walking across an open field.

It was dumb that Eugene had sabotaged all the bullets, but no one actually fired a gun (except Negan who fired the only 3 genuine bullets into the Rick dummy) until Rick's group waltzed into view. Were there no zombies to be shot that day?

It was dumb of Rick to keep Negan alive. If he's a prisoner then you've got to guard him, feed him, listen to him drone on, and he'll be a rallying point for any remaining Saviours who don't want to be farmers.

It was dumb of Rick to use the "my mercy is greater than my wrath" line to justify sparing Negan - the bloke who bashed in Abraham and Glen's heads with a bat. Where was your mercy when you shot all the other Saviours who hadn't killed your mates?

I assumed Maggie wants Negan dead as revenge for him murdering Glen, it seemed out of character for Jesus to be smiling and nodding.

Chimichangaz · 17/04/2018 09:01

Just watched it. Glad the all out war is over, bit disbelieving about Jesus plotting with Maggie (the lighting made it feel like she'd turned into a Bond villain Hmm), also about Eugenes plot twist. Big mistake not to kill Negan. The ending felt a bit flat, I was fully expecting the helicopter to turn up at the junkyard to pick Morgan up. Also, I did wonder if they were all living happily together where the excitement would come from but I guess that's the teaser from what was apparently (I couldn't actually see what it was, must get better glasses...) a big Walker herd. I guess I will tune in next season, I have loved this show so much over the last couple of years, I just want to feel like I did before it lost its way Sad

OohMavis · 17/04/2018 09:35

I agree about Jesus. In the very same episode he was advocating mercy and peace he's plotting to 'rise up' against the rest of the group? Nah. All a bit too much comic-book villian.

I think the next season will see an expansion of their world. The khaki music record lady will show up again. We'll learn more about that helicopter (I think they're connected).

What I think was an absolute waste and a huge mistake was killing Carl. It was unecessary. There would have been other ways for Rick to 'see the light'. He'd have been a great character to continue on into the next season and develop properly.

I’ve been reading the Surviving the Evacuation series on my Kindle and they have massive hoardes of zombies wandering the length and breadth of Britain. They’re devastating. There’s thousands and thousands of them in a hoarse and they turn everything to dust, buildings, land, trees, all gone. Little old Hilltop wouldn’t stand a chance in the face of one of those, it would be wiped out. All they can do in the books is get underground, like a railway tunnel, or keep ahead of it.

gamerchick · 17/04/2018 10:33

What I think was an absolute waste and a huge mistake was killing Carl. It was unecessary

The actor was sacked due to his pain in the arse dad. Carl wasn’t intended to be written out.

It hasn’t lost its way, it’s just evolving. People need to stop whining about wanting to go back or stop watching. It’s not going to go back to virus days.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 17/04/2018 10:38

gamerchick really? What a bloody shame for the lad.

QueenDaisy · 17/04/2018 10:38

CookPassBridge

I hope once this is all over, the next thing to look at is why the infection happened

This was touched on towards the end of Season one.

gamerchick · 17/04/2018 10:46

It was a shame, the poor bugger had just bought a house near the set.

Oblomov18 · 17/04/2018 10:47

Disappointing and flat, I'm afraid.

Had no idea about Carl's dad being a nightmare parent. Shame.

Oblomov18 · 17/04/2018 10:54

. "The actor was sacked due to his pain in the arse dad. "

Really? Link please?

gamerchick · 17/04/2018 11:04

You don’t have google where you are? It’s not a secret Grin

OohMavis · 17/04/2018 11:39

I heard about his dad tweeting something inappropriate after he got the boot but not that'd he'd caused it Shock

DispatchReady · 17/04/2018 13:18

Hmmm I didn't mind this ending too much. Might have been a good place to end the entire thing.

The Oceanside people appearing was a bit rubbish - they just happened to arrive at the right time to the exact right spot?! And then never saw them again!

I think Maggie will do something to make Rick realise he should have killed Negan - not necessarily release him but just something that will backfire and make Negan do something that will make Rick finally kill him. Don't think she'll kill him herself.

Was surprised Daryl sent Dwight away - I thought they were going to hug it out and then go hunting together GrinDaryl is obviously not as forgiving as Rick! Does that mean he's forgiven Eugene then?! Eugene and Dwight are on a par really...

Oblomov18 · 17/04/2018 13:51

I did. But could only find articles saying that his dad reacted after he was sacked.

It didn't mention anything about his dad being so difficult, that his dad's awfulness 'led' or was the reason for him being written out.

Oblomov18 · 17/04/2018 13:52

Same as Mavis!

QueenDaisy · 17/04/2018 13:59

I’d read somewhere that when the Actor who plays Carl turned 18, his Dad requested a pay rise, if this is true, maybe he didn’t ‘ask’ in a nice way.

A bit silly.......... Next series really needs to be the last.

MiddleClassProblem · 17/04/2018 14:23

Just finished. I liked it. Ready for a timehop and the whisperers. I like how Negan is kept and what comes from it in the comics. It makes him different to the governor as a villain. I will miss how he and Carl have chats and stuff. Really still not over that lol. Would have liked more Oceanside action too. If it wasn’t for Eugene then not much would have changed.

If Laura was so wuock to surrender then what was the point of her sobbing Dwight in?

Annoyed they are hanging on to Gregory for another season but if they really wanted to punish Negan they could put the in a cell together 😂

Beyond11cisRetinol · 17/04/2018 14:53

Yeah I'm not gonna be over them killing off Carl for a while.

glowfrog · 17/04/2018 15:05

I think as an idea, killing off Carl to push Rick to forgive Negan makes sense - but the character development over this series (and the last 2 tbh) has not succeeded in making it entirely convicing. And I will always be heart-broken over his death.

Personally, I think death is too good for Negan.Keeping him a prisonner is surely a better punishment?

What I thought was good about where things were left is that neither Rick nor Maggie are wholly wrong or wholly right. I can see where Maggie is coming from, but she seems to have forgotten what Rick has gone through as well. I don't see why HER closure matters more than Rick's. And while I understand she's traumatised, she has a child on the way - Glenn's child - and that really ought to matter over everything else.

I can't believe Jesus would be happy to risk a completely uncessary new fight or war over Negan...

As for Daryl - that twat hasn't taken one single sensible decision in YEARS. His character is like a stagnant pond. And so is his hair.

MiddleClassProblem · 17/04/2018 15:10

I can’t belueve you called Daryl a twat! ShockGrin

I agree with Jesus not fitting on team Off Negan. But Negan did kill the love of Maggie’s life and she’ll be hormonal. I think she’s justified to want him dead but I think it’s just an attempt to add some form of cliff hanger in rather than it actually being a huge part of the plot. It’s the only bit that says there’s something else to come, watch next season if you know what I mean.
