2 hours of silent witness. Followed about 50% of it. Pivotal discussions between lead cast members unintelligible. Couldn't follow it by the end. Is it me?

Lol at Jack's 'to be honest none of this is making much sense' without a hint of irony!

I fell asleep and woke up just as credits were rolling!

So what happened? I got bored and went to bed.

I'd tell you Noeuf but unsure of spoiler etiquette on this thread ... Basically, you guessed it earlier.

We missed it tonight! No, can't hear it properly and there's far too much background music and it's too loud.

This series is nothing like as good as they usually are. The plots are thin and sound is crap, and there's too much emphasis on getting Nicki laid. I don't much care who her bf is, or whether she has one at all, frankly.

Bad scripts imo.

Not watched it back yet because DH was out last night but I think I’ve figured it out.
The daughters “they were best friends” refers to the mums friend that the Dad was shagging so “it’s Dads fault” makes sense
I’m not bothered about spoilers, we’ve usually figured it out by the beginning of part 2 anyway.

I stopped watching when the two guys left. Harry and Leo. Those three had a nice dynamic.

I thought it was very silly this week, especially Nikki running about like a headless chicken playing hide and seek.
The twist with the daughter was also obvious, right from when she said it was her Dad’s fault, though I am still unsure how she shot her own horse as well.
What was the line of thin rope through the horse’s mouth and up to her head collar then across her neck? Was that to keep her laid down? I have ponies but not seen that before.

Must admit I still enjoy it and binge watch on a Wednesday.

I still enjoy watching it very much. The only hole I would pick with this weeks story was all the leaves on the trees at Christmas time!

Yeah, Nikki running about stupidly, saving the bloody day. And the nonsense when they recreate the crime. As if we haven't watched any of the previous series where they solve the crime without all that shit.

It's turned to rubbish.

Not sure I'll tune in again, but I like Clarissa and Jack. I used to like Nikki but she's become an idiot.

Lots of tricksy camera work this week - in lieu of believable plot

I will continue to watch. It's an enjoyable hour of shouting at the telly box

Stupid point, but I didn't really get the very last scene. Nikki gets a ticket to go and see her boyfriend in Washington, but then he turns up on her doorstep? So has he just turned up from Washington, and is he planning to turn round and go straight back again? Why wouldn't they just stay at her place?

Report
CapnHaddock · 09/02/2018 08:15

I was wondering how he was managing to skype/facetime her appearing to be in Washington when he was actually standing outside. Wouldn't she have recognised he was in her front garden?

Also (and I dozed off), did they actually suggest that the 7 stone daughter shot her dad, then hauled his body into a wheelbarrow and tipped both him and the barrow into the lake, far enough in so that they sank to the bottom? Stronger than she looks!

Gnother it was an open ticket so she can go another time.
No idea why they would get her one if they knew he was turning up ( unless they didn’t but it was implied they did)
Also, did the girl actually shoot her horse? If so why? Was it because she was killing herself too?

It was awful.

Anyone else hoping Nikki would get shot??

So [SPOILERS!!]

The young girl did it all because she liked a guy & so did her sister & her dad was shagging her Aunt?Hmm

What a bloody let down.

How did she get her dad into the wheelbarrow?

When she was so upset that the guy in the car had died that pretty much gve it away though.

So had she expected him not to die?

DD3 is SmuggyMcSmugFace here, as she said it was the daughter as soon as we saw her with the pitchfork sadly not stabbing Nikki with it in episode 1. She reckons her reactions were "off".

Currently watching Series 1, series 11 and current series simultaneously, trying to find some pathology stuff, it's quite hard!

Report
Jux · 09/02/2018 14:02

Well, I reckon that Ms Fox is off to pastures new, so Nikki is about to swan off to Washington with little boyfriend and is not coming back.

With luck, the next series will have some pathology in it. There are plenty of detective shows on tv, and I watch many of them, but the pathology angle is a nice change which is one reason why I like Clarissa.

I can watch any number of detectives running about solving cases elsewhere.

I actually thought that Julian Rhind Tutt (sp?) from the 1st couple of episodes was going to stick around, so maybe he'll be back?

Except they probably want a woman, for the sexual tension plotlines.

I like Clarissa as well.

When Nikki first joined, wasn't she doing facial reconstruction?

That didn't last long did it?

Was interesting as well.

There is literally. no profession that Nikki can't turn her hand to:

Pathologist, SOCO, detective, counsellor, psychologist, silly bint who runs round trying to get herself killed

I do love Emilia Fox though. She looks good in a pair of tight tre.ws and a nice blouse.

If the daughter intended to kill herself as she said, why would she need to put the bodies in the lake? And if she didn't intend to kill herself, what did she propose to tell people about the fact that her father, grandfather, sister and au pair had all disappeared overnight?

Report
GnotherGnu · 09/02/2018 18:23

I hoped Julian Rhind-Tutt would stick around, I'd definitely go along with him returning.

I agree with NotAgain, I like Emilia Fox, it's just that the way they write her character is bloody ridiculous.
