It's that Homeland time of year again

It feels so long ago that poor Weaselly Quinn met his maker that I had to Wiki what happened last season. We were left with an easily-led Madame President, an assassination plot, Saul in prison, Quinn dead in a Jeep and Carrie's distraught face working on overtime.

But it's back! Feb 11th US which I reckon means Feb 18th UK (although last year Channel 4 didn't tell us till about a minute before kick-off, despite my pathetic emailing). . Yay!

And yes - 4Chan = bonkers. WTF was she thinking?

Sorry Hassled. You’re right. I never should’ve doubted max. He shares genes with the all good Virgil. He can’t be bad.

Lweji · 26/02/2018 16:07

I've loved the action packed first two episodes, and mad/not mad Carrie, but I can't quite figure out what the main story will be yet.

Sure, the President is borderline despotic, but she seems fairly amenable to placating public opinion.

Any ideas?

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 26/02/2018 19:41

The President is listening to whatever was said to her most recently.

Ken Barlow's views predominate because he controls access to her.

DispatchReady · 26/02/2018 20:30

Just caught up on the first two episodes. Carrie is so stressful to watch but I quite liked her with the dark hair! Once again she won't be winning any mum of the year awards! I too felt sure her sister had two kids in the past?

Enjoying it so far, love Max and Saul - they are both GOOD!

Any Walking Dead fans spot the computer geek was Eric who just died?!

Ken Barlow son is King Ecbert from Vikings to me!

calzone · 26/02/2018 20:39

Ooh the second episode was goooooood......

coastalchick · 26/02/2018 20:46

I don’t like that kid with the lion mask on when it comes up for an ad break - creepy.

Love the fact Carrie told that perv “I’m fucking CIA” then almost killed him.

My friend said I remind her of Carrie. I do consider that slightly concerning.

calzone · 26/02/2018 21:03

coastalchick.....not sure that’s a compliment!!! 🙈🙈

coastalchick · 26/02/2018 21:08

I know!!!!!

2018February · 26/02/2018 21:12

Yes! What is the girl in the lion mask supposed to be??

It's bothered me every time I've seen it!

EachandEveryone · 26/02/2018 21:35

Well, i enjoyed that episode. Does Saul like O'Keefe? Will he work with him i wonder.

Is Ken Barlow married to the president?

DesperatelySeeking2016 · 26/02/2018 21:46

I’m just watching the end now- why is Carrie wondering around an abandoned building on her own! I am so stressed!!!

Hassled · 26/02/2018 21:53

I'm so glad other people have raised the girl (young Carrie?) in the lion mask by the hedge maze. I thought I was just being thick by not getting any references.

This gives the answers to the opening titles: www.tvworthwatching.com/post/Main-Titles-Up-Close-Homeland.aspx

It's from when homeland started (2012) so references Brodie but the rest gives an insight into carries background.

Hanch99 · 26/02/2018 23:25

I still would like to know who bombed Langley?? Any guesses? Saul?

Fiderer · 27/02/2018 07:15

Always wonder about the lion mask too.

Didn't really like ep1 so re-watched it just before ep2. Found ep1 too disjointed & I can't stand Carrie's manic gurning. Plus she's a rotten (ex)agent, the laptop stuff was v amateur. Good to see Max though, he must be employed by the gov't though. Wasn't he caught at that troll farm/bot place that Dar was at cooking up trouble for Keane?

Better on a 2nd watch but I waited a day as I watched an old episode of Poirot with a v young Damien Brody Lewis hamming it up to the rafters. Shockingly bad acting, eyes on stalks swivelling to convey Emotion, Doubt, Worry. It quite threw me Grin

Abu Nazir was supposedly responsible for Langley but there was something about the funding coming from Iran, Javadi I think.

2018February · 27/02/2018 08:13

@notmenope thanks so much! 6 years I've wondered about that!

ThursdayLastWeek · 27/02/2018 14:33

DH & I both totally forgot about Homeland on Sunday, what fools!

So we watched it last night and I found Carrie extremely uncomfortable viewing. Good lord she’s totally unstable, there’s no way her Lithium is still working.

I find Sauls presence back in the Real World reassuring.

I find Ken Barlow Jr oddly snakelike, poker faced. Can’t tell which way he’s going to fall yet.

Enjoyed it though! I love the beginnings of a series when you don’t really have any idea what’s going to happen yet.

pepperpot99 · 27/02/2018 15:59

I loved the second episode! although I do NOT like or endorse violence, DH and I were practically cheering when Carrie beat the shit out of the pervy grabby hacker and told him "I've got you for the rest of your life". YEAH !!!!! Grin

I am missing Quinn though. Is Carrie going to hook up with Ken Barlow Jr ? I would love Max to get a girlfriend...he held a torch to the lovely Farah In series 4 and 5 didn't he? Sad.

ZilphasHatpin · 27/02/2018 16:20

Carrie definitely needs a sidekick. She needs someone on her team. Maybe her and Saul will buddy up again. How were things between them at the end of last season? We’re they on good terms?

I think it must be some stupid hormonal thing or something but king Ecbert is stirring things in me Blush I’m totally convinced he is bad though.

I agree Carrie Is very frustrating to watch. She is still a total liability and risk to national security. Poor franny barely has a mother at all. She just lives in the same house as her but Carrie is solely focussed on her “duty” to the country.

FoolandFitz · 27/02/2018 18:20

Am I the only one who didn't enjoy Carrie's thread? What was all that about? Why? It was so random. It was all so creepy, more FBI as opposed to CIA spying. I can't believe Max would not know how to get rid of the virus either.

I did like the rest of it though. Saul's talk with O'Keefe is going to go horribly wrong. People will die. O'Keefe's girlfriend is definitely dying.

TheDonald · 27/02/2018 18:47

We had a Trojan like that at work. It locked the entire organisation's files.

We got our normal it guys to come and wipe every machine then restored everything from our back up.

Can't believe max didn't know how to do that. Is he really not as good at it as Fat Jim and Thin Jim Grin

Mind you it did take them all day. I had to go out for more biscuits.

MamOfTwo · 27/02/2018 19:54

Agree, Fooland - the girlfriend's days are numbered! Saying "I want to get back to my nice, quiet life" (or words to that effect) is just asking for trouble.

iheartmichellemallon · 27/02/2018 22:31

I enjoyed the 2nd episode & loved Carrie beating the shit out of him at the end. I also wonder where the series is going to go though - not sure there's much in it.

busyboysmum · 01/03/2018 22:14

Anyone else secretly hoping that PQ isn't really dead? I know I know....

Loved bad ass Carrie at the end of episode 2.
