It's that Homeland time of year again

It feels so long ago that poor Weaselly Quinn met his maker that I had to Wiki what happened last season. We were left with an easily-led Madame President, an assassination plot, Saul in prison, Quinn dead in a Jeep and Carrie's distraught face working on overtime.

But it's back! Feb 11th US which I reckon means Feb 18th UK (although last year Channel 4 didn't tell us till about a minute before kick-off, despite my pathetic emailing). . Yay!

Almost a shame he was a general, not a rear admiral!

Grin love it!

I think the tongue is a quicker way to the system isn’t it? He would swallow and the “stuff” would be in his system. Whereas his bum doesn’t really take things in. As a reflex I mean. Why did I start this train of thought??

Paleshelter · 18/02/2018 23:34

The camera seemed to hone in on the prison officer putting his gloved hand on his tongue, I. Sure he was putting something on the General's mouth.

Lweji · 18/02/2018 23:36

At first I thought the bum and the mouth person were the same, yuck, but there were too people there. I think it was via mouth. Not sure what it could be, but if they can kill him in plain sight, they won't be afraid of an autopsy.

Not sure who ordered it, though. Or rather, via whom it was ordered.

It looks as if they were going on one direction last season, but after the surprise election result they decided to change the story slightly completely.

BitOfFun · 19/02/2018 00:08

Yes- she's gone from being modelled on Hilary to more of a Trump type, pitted against the security services.

Timetogetup0630 · 19/02/2018 07:39

Signing in here, though I need a plot refresher!

Pretty sure that the prison guard had some poison on his gloves, which he transferred into the generals mouth. He was putting thhis gloves into a sealed plastic bag and watched the death scene on CCTV.

Cocolepew · 19/02/2018 07:41

Maybe the General set it up himself so he didn't have to suffer the indignity of jail. The guards looked like military.
He was one of the escapees in Prison Break, maybe they weren't taking any chances .

Timetogetup0630 · 19/02/2018 07:43

Coco lol.

I am so excited about this, watching it in segments between the commercial breaks!

Lweji · 19/02/2018 07:49

He'd have been in a military prison.
But I don't think he was in on it. Surely he'd choose something less painful and it was too obvious for the guard to attempt it if the highest authorities didn't ok it.
I wonder if it will be her Watergate, though.

Lweji · 19/02/2018 07:54

You're clearly not familiar with the concept of suppositories. The rectal route can be more effective than the oral route because the bowels are made for absorption, unlike the upper part of the digestive system.

Cocolepew · 19/02/2018 08:00

I take cannabis oil under my tongue, maybe I should squirt it up instead 🤔Grin

pepperpot99 · 19/02/2018 08:01

I found the whole episode really confusing and odd Sad. I probably should have re-watched the previous series.

Where is Dar? and how come Maggie has suddenly acquired a husband (v irritating as well)?

What was Carrie actually doing?

Lweji · 19/02/2018 08:36

I hope it's not for medicinal purposes.
I also take oral dispersion anti-histaminics. Less fuss. Grin

Anyway, I wondered about Adal as well. He was arrested in the first wave. I wonder if he was also killed in jail or sentenced to death.

Lweji · 19/02/2018 08:46

Carrie has a deep throat source for something evil (or at least impeachment worthy) the President has done. It looks like she's her own Resistance, being her usual prescient self. But whistle blower man is afraid, very afraid.
It would be fun if she ended up joining forces with Angry Radio Man, aka Mr Medium.

Hassled · 19/02/2018 17:21

Yes, I can see it ending up with Carrie and O'Keefe in some mind-melting union because it's the only way to topple the despotic president. Saul will ask her what's happened to her principles and refuse to co-operate until it's almost too late.

I'm sure the poison was administered orally via the blue gloves of fear. The rectal exam only seemed to involve a torch. Good that we're giving the efficient administration of poison techniques so much thought, though.

Blue gloves of fear? Grin

That's just standard issue in most labs these days. Powderless gloves. They're not more sinister than purple or green.

Another question: will there be snacks? I.e. no sacks in jail, only outside.

Cocolepew · 19/02/2018 18:47

I had blue gloves of fear on in work today. I felt quite powerful as I eyed up which colleague I disliked the most.

Oldsu · 19/02/2018 19:04

I never watched it before but I am watching it now for the wonderful Linus Roache so not a clue what's going on just that's Linus is in it and that good enough for me - sorry

HalleLouja · 19/02/2018 22:24

Senator Paley is Colin Sweeney from the Good Wife. He was great in TGW.

Poor Carrie - she thinks she is still a spy but no one is paying her anymore. How about her billionaire friend lends her a few $$$.

Elle8989 · 20/02/2018 01:33

Pepperpot poster... Dar is in prison. He plotted against the president last series. Last series was really good.

The general was poisoned by the gloves. He was shouting for help. Thought everyone would think that.

Wonder if the police guys taking away the radio show guy are not going to kill him off. The gf gets away or something.

Loving it already.

Timetogetup0630 · 20/02/2018 05:05

HalleLujah yes ! I recognised Colin Sweeney too. Different hairstyle though.

Timetogetup0630 · 20/02/2018 05:07

Carrie isn't bring very responsible about that gun when there is a child in the house, is she ?
Keeping it in a box of old clothes in the closet.
Tut tut.

Lweji · 20/02/2018 07:44

Keeping it in a box of old clothes in the closet. Tut tut.

Don't worry. Soon, she'll store it under her pillow.

FlexTimeCheekyFucker · 20/02/2018 17:17

Was Colin Sweeney also William in The Americans? (When's that coming back?)

ThursdayLastWeek · 20/02/2018 21:22

I couldn’t really take Colin Sweeney very seriously because I have inky recently finished binge watching the good wife and he did a very good job of being creepy as fuck!
