It's that Homeland time of year again

It feels so long ago that poor Weaselly Quinn met his maker that I had to Wiki what happened last season. We were left with an easily-led Madame President, an assassination plot, Saul in prison, Quinn dead in a Jeep and Carrie's distraught face working on overtime.

But it's back! Feb 11th US which I reckon means Feb 18th UK (although last year Channel 4 didn't tell us till about a minute before kick-off, despite my pathetic emailing). . Yay!

Ohh Homeland ways seems to be spot on with real life events! (The Russians)

Lweji · 25/03/2018 22:40

Blink and you miss it.

Clearly, Saul is a saint.
Wobbly chin Carrie is back. And thank God she didn't actually have sex with Dante. I hope their secret agent stuff works better next episode. So far they've been played.

TheSpottedZebra · 25/03/2018 22:40

I thought the previous cigarettes told saul that the iranian was being played by Mossad? So, that they were all lying to him.

Paleshelter · 25/03/2018 22:40

*always

TheSpottedZebra · 25/03/2018 22:41

Please, Carrie would would have shagged him if she'd wanted to/if it had helped the cause.

It was the Iranian guy who was interrogated by the Israeli who left the packet of cigarettes in their office. Iirc.

He's recently been found in a series called The Brave interrogating a secret agent in Iran.

EachandEveryone · 25/03/2018 22:50

Will Dante know whats happened when he wakes up?

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 25/03/2018 23:15

Why was she staring meaningfully at his chest?

Was there a meaningful tattoo??

Lweji · 25/03/2018 23:17

It's becoming Homeland meets The Americans.

However, the method of disposing of the old Russian agent is not realistic.
Everyone knows they are found after accidentally killing themselves in car boots. Or defenestrate themselves.

ZilphasHatpin · 25/03/2018 23:18

Well FUCK! Shock

Best episode yet! I loved that. I love Carrie and Saul scenes. I miss them together.

Grin @ max the sad guinea pig!

Poor Ivan. I thought he had another episode or two in him. So old Russia out, new Russia in. Scary. They were watching Ivan and presumably Saul?

I love Carries band of merry men Grin

marchonto2018 · 25/03/2018 23:26

Cigarettes seem to have so much significance! For a non smoker it's very confusing!

There were definitely some in a bin at some point that we're significant

Kinraddie · 25/03/2018 23:31

Well I really liked Dante's tattoos Wink. Good episode. Carrie isn't going to win any Mum of the Year competitions is she? Can someone remind me what happened to Virgil?

Lweji · 25/03/2018 23:48

Well I really liked Dante's tattoos

He's going to become tattoo man, isn't he?

Timetogetup0630 · 26/03/2018 08:30

Signing in again after a couple of weeks off !
Just loving this uncannily topical series.

VIrgil ? Perhaps he has retired.
I do worry for Max. And what does Carries sister think is going on inthat bedroom anyway ?

extinctspecies · 26/03/2018 08:40

We don't know yet if Dante is bad though - it's still conjecture.

Could be embarrassing if they don't find anything incriminating.

Maybe one of the tattoos is Russian?
I was wondering if they are real. He didn't seem the tattoo type.

Think Max is looking rather sweet this series.

Fiderer · 26/03/2018 08:41

It has picked up thankfully. Less Keane & more Saul.

I also dislike flirty Carrie, pretty much all Carrie since series 1 & obviously she should have been poisoned by the sarin gas not Quinn & become a little star on the CIA wall.

The drawing pin signal was v Le Carré. Wasn't it Ivan who had the scene with Saul after Hair was rumbled, that was also v Smiley? Shades of Bill Haydon I remember thinking. Ivan was sent to Jackson Hole but had a worse fate than Jed Bartlet in The West Wing who just rode Leo's bike into a tree there.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 26/03/2018 08:47

When Alison/Ivan were rumbled, she claimed that she's been running him as a source and no-one seemed to know about it. She said she'd declared it only to the conveniently dead David Este.

So how come long-haired researcher knew there was an emergency contact procedure for Ivan, Ivan the suitcase man?

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 26/03/2018 08:49

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_criminal_tattoos

So, what might tattoo man have done??

DispatchReady · 26/03/2018 08:55

I'm really liking all this good old fashioned spy stuff. Poor Ivan!

Loved Carrie's boys swooping in but wonder if they'll find anything. Think the tattoos might be significant too.

Anyone notice how Simone put her bag over her shoulder when she left David's house the next morning - thought she left it in the Uber?!

Carrie ignoring Frannie's "do you want to play mummy?" - mother of the year - NOT!

Kinraddie · 26/03/2018 09:27

I recognised Sandy, the long haired Russian expert/lecturer so I googled her....she's the grumpy prison guard from OITNB Smile

FlexTimeCheekyFucker · 26/03/2018 17:44

I found myself wondering for the first time if Saul is a baddie after all and setting Dante up to throw Carrie off the scent.

ZilphasHatpin · 26/03/2018 17:57

Shock noooo!! He is all good.

Cocolepew · 26/03/2018 18:02

Oh, come on.
She already knew it was Dante, deep down. She only needed it spelled out to her.

Remind me, all the other crew are CIA, right? Only Devil Dante is FBI.
