It feels so long ago that poor Weaselly Quinn met his maker that I had to Wiki what happened last season. We were left with an easily-led Madame President, an assassination plot, Saul in prison, Quinn dead in a Jeep and Carrie's distraught face working on overtime.

But it's back! Feb 11th US which I reckon means Feb 18th UK (although last year Channel 4 didn't tell us till about a minute before kick-off, despite my pathetic emailing). . Yay!

Quinn can never be replaced. There will also be a Quinn-stepping-out-of-the-shower sized hole in our hearts.

:o at Dante needing his thyroid checked. You'd have thought that was the first thing a top spy like Carrie would have noticed.

Did the beardy joggers all die horribly trying to get re-habbed Brodie into Iran? Or did they just jog off into the distance?

Earth Angel was better looking than Quinn, aka Weasle Boy.

Lweji · 19/03/2018 19:19

She's a bit distracted these days. She'd miss a flying pig in front of her, unless it conspired against the US.

Lweji · 19/03/2018 19:21

There's only one constant man in Carrie's life. He who shall not be replaced and is not evil.

ZilphasHatpin · 19/03/2018 19:23

Oooh good flashback! Mmmm. Grin

From what I recall there were two cars of beardy joggers. One car hit a landmine. Brody was in it and lead beardy. They both got out and hid from gunfire near some tractors in a shed. Brody decided to make a run for the border against advice. Lead beardy went with him. They were both taken by Iranian soldiers and put in a cell. Lead beard was shot and brody was taken for interrogation. I’m not altogether sure if the second car got away or not.

marchonto2018 · 19/03/2018 20:06

Thank you @ZilphasHatpin I have no recollection of them, although I do remember thinking Brody never stopped looking Lush (to me) so I was distracted.

I will go back and rewatch.

I quite like the new slightly off the rails CIA guy (better than Dante). Does anyone remember when Quinn first appeared and he was interrogating someone and he was quite violent or maybe I am making that up? It was all so long ago.

That French woman (is she Asian?) definitely knows what she is doing - leaving her handbag in the car and then leading them to Wellyboots. I don't think she knows that his house is bugged because as Dante said they don't need the transcript, it's enough that she phoned him and went there. I think she's also in a relationship with Wellyboots to set him up.

All through the episode, I was thinking as others have said "who's paying them, where did they get all that equipment from, who's paying them, where does Dante's boss think he is, who's paying them?"

I really enjoyed this episode, especially as O'Keefe was only in one brief scene. Can't stand him.

I remember Hair but I can't remember Ivan at all. Was he her contact - the one who used to park his car to next to her's and she used to fall apart and he would tell her to get a grip? What exactly happened to him at the end of that series?

Finally, the series was much better when Carrie was actually in the CIA. At the moment, what she is doing is being a criminal.

ZilphasHatpin · 19/03/2018 22:33

Yes he stabbed someone in the hand. Was it brody? I can’t remember.

Yes Ivan was the car meeting man for Hair.

I also like new wildcard man. Was funny when he was winding Carrie up talking about her stealing a car and saying “punch her in the face” Grin Carrie not impressed!

Lweji · 20/03/2018 08:36

Yes, like all those whistleblowers. Interesting point of view for the writers to cover.

FoolandFitz · 20/03/2018 18:20

Which whistleblowers?

But aren't whistleblowers part of the organisation they work for? Carrie is not part of any organisation. I wonder if anyone high up will believe that there is a conspiracy or it will be seen as her unstable mind?

Lweji · 20/03/2018 18:40

Not in the series. In real life. People have been imprisoned for revealing secret info. Is it justified to break the law in some circumstances?

Hassled · 25/03/2018 20:45

Are we all Homeland-ready?

Quinn stabbed Brody in the hand for no particular reason other than gratuitous violence and so we could all see what an aggressive hot-head he was. Then he changed personality and became Dependable Quinn.

I'm here. Really enjoying this series.

Lweji · 25/03/2018 20:57

Can't wait for you to watch this episode and being able to talk about it.

Cocolepew · 25/03/2018 20:59

Oh you tease..!

ThursdayLastWeek · 25/03/2018 21:08

Helloooooooooo

ThursdayLastWeek · 25/03/2018 21:16

Well well well...so it IS the Russians??

Cocolepew · 25/03/2018 21:31

Oh poor bug eyed Dante believes her.

Cocolepew · 25/03/2018 21:48

He's a bug eyed baddie Shock

ThursdayLastWeek · 25/03/2018 22:00

Flirting Carrie is my least fave Carrie

TheSpottedZebra · 25/03/2018 22:14

Forgive me Homelanders, for I have sinned. It has been approx 1 year since my last watch Homeland at the right time and post on the thread, but I have finally caught up.

To atone, I shall say 10 Hail Sauls, and I have already eaten some ice cream for my SaulSnack.

TheSpottedZebra · 25/03/2018 22:15

I say caught up, but I don't really know what's going on. I like Dante and don't think he has thyroid issues at all, and I liked the mention of Hair today.

And I think max looks like a sad guinea pig this series.

MamOfTwo · 25/03/2018 22:15

Hmm, you can't half-watch Homeland, can you? Bit distracted in tonight's episode and no idea what was going on. I take it Dante was not the friendly guy he seemed?

Hassled · 25/03/2018 22:15

Alas poor Ivan! Although - what was he going to tell Saul?

DH has reminded me that Saul spotting rogue cigarettes has happened before, but neither of us can remember who or when. There was something though, last season - a stray packet in a wastepaper bin?

And blimey, Carrie's good.

HalleLouja · 25/03/2018 22:36

Weren’t the cigarettes from a couple of seasons back from a place that the ones who threw them away shouldn’t have gone to?

I loved the way Saul figured Dante was bad from afar. I liked Ivan, may he RIP.

Liked the new geeky guy too. He is going to figure it all out with his algorithms and stuff.
