The girls alone with the stalker scene was contrived i agree, i was cringing a bit. obviously the writers have read a few Nicci French type books and decided to do their own version. I agree that Shirley would have been fabulous, she is scary when she is asleep, let alone awake.
I bet they still shun Karen though, she isn't as glossy as the others - they are happy to use her, but not be best friends i feel. The them and us thing is creeping into the soap.

Oh lord I hope Tina doesn’t end up preggers with Billy’s baby. I presume we won’t see much of the Stacey and baby storyline for a bit as she got married IRL didn’t she, there were a few of the cast in her pics so I guess that’s why a few have been missing lately?

My most hated soap storyline go to
is, unplanned pregnancy from a one night stand. It’s lazy, boring and gets on my tits. Which is a shame because they bloody love an unplanned pregnancy story in soapland. Especially if it’s the result of infidelity.

Agree Enid - it’s been said before on here that EE usually like (for some strange reason) to have 2 pregnancies on the go at once so with Abbie already pregnant someone else is likely to be on the cards

Does anyone else remember that the assault by WB was actually the second time Kathy had been raped?

The back story to how she conceived her daughter Donna (who turned up in the square in 1980-something, turned out to be a drug addict and then died of an overdose) was that Kathy was raped when she was 14.

I know soaps aren't exactly known for 100% continuity or reality, but it irritates me hugely that this has never been referred to since.

Anyone else notice Phil’s car number plate ended JWB. How is that even a coincidence?

islamann, when i saw that car and number plate a few weeks ago i just assumed it was James's car ( as he was in it that episode) and he was lurking around spying on people on something.
however, if its Phil's car, then that is weird! unless its some kind of in joke.
i agree that Kathy's other ordeal with Donna ( and being blackmailed by Nick cotten over it all) has been air brushed out.
I do love how Phil is such a ' man of few words ' - even if he did look a bit wary of James's heavy in the house.

How completely unrealistic is the situation with Shirley handing Tina her passport and telling her she's booked her a trip to Spain. Yeah, Tina just gets in cab.....doesnt find out where in spain, where will she stay, what will she live on and WTF has Shirley packed for her in her bag.

Phil would have been brought into that reception room and kept waiting deliberately, partly as a power trip but also so he would see the family photos.

I had to laugh at the ‘hard man’ Phil being ever so menacing. Not.

JWB must have known that Kathy would pass on his address to Ian or Phil. He wants them to know that Luke is fake with his 'feels' for Ben.
What its all to achieve is anyones guess.

The80s - yes. SoC did the same thing with the Helen/Rob DV story in the Archers. We had months of it. Lots of loose ends and red herrings, people behaving totally out of character, interspersed with new stories that never seemed to go anywhere. People seemed to make the same speeches over and over again. I switched off in the end. Couldn't care less what happened.

I gave up on the Archers about 2005, i did hear that Sean wasnt popular despite t.ge Helen story making the news!

Oh god not pregnant Tina. She already has a daughter she has conveniently forgotten, just like Michelle and Vicky, when their not babies in need of a DNA testing or troubled teens they are packed off to the other side of the world to have unconvincingly distant parental relationships.

I thought JWB said to Luke that Kathy would tell Phil, so Luke went round there for tea to gauge his reaction. Phil is going to be high on Max's revenge list. I don't remember Phil knowing JWB. obviously he does.

Phil has run JWB out of town when he made an appearance in the 1990s , i do not remember this incident at all, but if you wiki james's character it mentions him being hounded by Phil and Grant and some others and he had to move on.
Kathy and Phil were married for a while and had Ben - his big story was his meningitis illness and subsequently he had to wear an hearing aid after having gromits inserted. or something like that. Phil hit the bottle and they were history!
I always think its amusing when i see Kathy, Sharon and Shirley in the pub together - all your ex's living meters away from each other and all getting on fairly well ( Denise being a newcomer to Phillip's dubious charms too in the past) He has never had any problems with the women, its just keeping them thats hard!
