Max was helping Steven lie to Lauren. Abi is probably better off without his support!

Phil looked suspicious when Luke was talking about his father being in the property business.

nancy75 · 08/11/2017 10:18

Maybe Tom is Lofty in disguise? They can have a big unmasking (like Scooby Doo) where he pulls off his Tom mask and lofty is the real stalker!

Ian has totally forgotten about Jane - she's definitely going to come back for at least 1 episode

dingdongdigeridoo · 08/11/2017 11:48

Oh my god Nancy, stop posting spoilers! Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/11/2017 14:05

@ding. Ah. Ok

@soup. Agree. He sounds so reasonable he almost makes you doubt yourself

There was no way that IAN wasn't going to be happy about abi being preg

Stephen isn't his blood where peter was

Agree weird IAN isn't bothered about jane

Plus surely the wb Luke ben thing can't go on till xmas

Phil will suss him out

OP posts:
Redcrayons · 08/11/2017 16:07

Grin bring back Lofty. Tom is Loftys secret brother out for revenge for Chelle jilting him 30 years ago. It's already a better story than whatever Max is up to.

Phil's onto Luke.

nancy75 · 09/11/2017 19:34

I love the idea that Honey is going to track down the driver, after all there are only 2.5 million cars in London every day - it won’t take her long to question each one of the drivers

nancy75 · 09/11/2017 19:36

Ian “have you noticed anything strange about my Mum?”
Well, she’s not as dead as she used to be - that’s quite unusual.

The80sweregreat · 09/11/2017 19:59

Nancy😀
Phil's back - yay! Enough of that new man rubbish.
How long before Honey realises that Tina is responsible?
Shirley is a brilliant actress.

southeastdweller · 09/11/2017 20:40

FFS, why the hell would Kathy have kept a photo of her and the man who raped her, for the past 29 years?!

nancy75 · 09/11/2017 20:41

She probably kept that album in the cupboard under the stairs, along with her knitting machine, maybe that can come out next

LineysRum · 09/11/2017 20:44

Bonkers. All of it.

The80sweregreat · 09/11/2017 20:49

Knitting machine! Would it still work?
Why kkep that picture? You just wouldnt.

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 09/11/2017 21:31

hi - i've got a questions about tonights episode

who was the actor playing the councillor/lawyer guy in the scene with bonnie langford?

:) thanks

Akire · 09/11/2017 22:29

Michelle was being v stupid why woulnt Sharon just hid upstairs just in case? When did Sharon and Bra women become buddies?

Why didn’t Ian offer shift to Abi she needs the work. Why no action on Stacey or baby?

Intomyarms · 10/11/2017 01:23

I was hoping that Luke’s information about his Dad driving a Bentley, originally having a car with a stuck gear would make Phil remember something about WB and realise it was him. Not beyond the realms of possibility that WB would have an old car for a long time before he moved up in the world.

I didn’t read much into the conversation between WB and Kathy although understood why she didn’t use the word rape and understood why he would never refer to it as rape. I don’t u derstand why he carries a photo of her around in his wallet for twenty five years though and I don’t think anything she could have said about the future would have changed anything about his plans for the Square as those wheels were set in motion way back when the launderette closed and chip shop was sold. The only thing I can imagine he meant he could change his mind about was Ian as we know he told Max to force Ian to stay behind as he wants him as a pawn. We know too that he has threatened Bobby. Was WB going to stop involving them if Kathy had agreed that the future was more important than the past?

BadHairDay0 · 10/11/2017 06:24

I enjoyed the Kathy / WJB episode. For me, it helped explain WJB's state of mind.

It began to make even more sense tonight, after the episode with Tom almost forcing himself on Michelle (although that was poorly acted imo). Suddenly I could see a parallel - Tom seems to have the same kind of blind obsession that WJB had once upon a time (and has kept all these years). Tom, like WJB, has these overwhelming feelings and is completely deluded about how the other person feels.

I can imagine that if Tom had been successful in overpowering Michelle tonight (and if he was a bit more like WJB), his storyline could have followed a similar path. He would have been shocked to be accused of rape. He would have hung onto that bitterness (and denial and hurt and confusion) for years.

In WJB's conversation in the café, I see now that he's is truly obsessed by Kathy and couldn't resist going and talking to her. (Recklessly - clearly, from his kids reaction, him visiting her wasn't part of the BIG PLAN). She's the one who got away. In a way, I think he thinks of her as the one true love of his whole life. It's a complete delusion.

When he was asking her to move forward, I think he desperately wanted her to put the past behind them. Not to forgive him, because his interpretation of the past is different from hers. But he wanted some kind of closure, I think.

BadHairDay0 · 10/11/2017 06:27

P.S. I liked the fact that she couldn't say the word. For me, it highlighted how, after all these years, she still hasn't come to terms with it.

It made the difference between their two points of view even more heightened.

He wants closure and them to move forward. But for her, the past is so terrible, it's literally still 'unspeakable'.

SoupDragon · 10/11/2017 07:20

i think JWB would stop the "bulldozing" part of his Walford plans if Kathy does what he wants/expects her to do. Yes, he will still own the buildings but whatever his plans for them are would change.

Do you think he really is dying?

Intomyarms · 10/11/2017 08:56

Yes I think he was telling the truth about dying. I know why the word ‘rape’ wasn’t used and was glad. It is even such a traumatic word, I hate seeing it bandied about as if it is an acceptable everyday word. It lessens its seriousness and criminality although I also see why it should be called what it is to highlight the seriousness of it.

I don’t believe Weyland’s big ‘plan’ is all linked back to Kathy’s say one word and I will stop the wheels turning. This is what WB does. Fi referred to how she successfully got other pubs by using the same tactics. . Sure the Square has links to his past but his treatment of the Carters who are random landlords just show how he does business.

If Kathy had said let’s forget the past —obviously something that would never happen— what would have happened then? WB would have gone to the grave happy he was back on speaking terms (in his mind) with his obsession. Would that have been it? Would that have been enough? Would he continue to let Luke manipulate Ben? Would he have rescued her daughter in law? No. I think not.

Are there different writers in EE. Surely the people who wrote the Kathy/WB episode are not the same writers intent on slapping us over the heads with PSAs and reinforcing everything three times in case the viewers are so thick they don’t understand that Denise was REALLY hungry/the bins needed to be collected etc.

mrswhiplington · 10/11/2017 10:42

Why on earth would Sharon recruit Karen and Denise to help her with Michelle? It was like they had to find a role for them in the episode because they hadn't been on screen for a while. Didn't make any sense.

Really wish Tina would just spit it out now about Janet. The storylines are getting more and more ludicrous and I'm finding myself fast forwarding scenes just to get them over with. Really hope the old Phil is back. JWB definitely needs to meet a nasty end.Grin

Thymeout · 10/11/2017 11:12

I think Karen was recruited to be the heavy. Can't think why Denise was there. She wasn't much good. Didn't like the stagey positioning of the three women. Soaps should be naturalistic. Not arty-farty. I think that's SOC's influence.

My problem was believing that Michelle would have been able to sit through a meal being so charming without making Tom suspicious or that he wouldn't have noticed he was being videoed.

And I'm really bored by the Tina/Billy story.

The80sweregreat · 10/11/2017 11:35

Sharon is married an east end hard man yet she recruits Karen and Denise to help her see off Tom? I am also shocked that the didnt smell a rat.
( although, i can see her logic with regards Karen, i wouldnt mess with her)
the Tina / Billy thing will blow up at christmas I bet.
its not good at all , Tina should ignore Shirley and do the right thing.
but she won't, of course.

The80sweregreat · 10/11/2017 11:37

i read my post above and it doesnt make a lot of sense. you all get my drift though i hope!

Thymeout · 10/11/2017 12:27

What did Shirley need the £500 loan from the fighting fund for? I'm hoping she's going to buy Tina a one-way ticket to Spain 'for a holiday' to get her out the country - and off our screens.

I think Sharon recruiting Karen and Denise was meant to be an example of girl-power, sisters doing it for themselves, helping Michelle to take back control. It all felt a bit contrived.

Intomyarms · 10/11/2017 12:40

Yes of course Tina will hop on a plane to Spain or visit long forgotten about Nancy wherever she is. Smile
