I still can’t believe it. Sadly I’m at work tonight but will catch up tomorrow. I don’t know if enjoy is the word. www.google.co.uk/amp/www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-10-16/george-michael-freedom-channel-4-extended-trailer/amp/

I have just watched it - it was wonderful.

Reminded me of loving 'Listen without Prejudice' which I had totally forgotten about.

PolaDeVeboise · 18/10/2017 12:35

I genuinely cannot think of anyone else who has voice as perfect as his was.

CeeBeeBee · 18/10/2017 19:05

Still missing him.

CoolCarrie · 18/10/2017 19:25

Does anyone know if it is going to be repeated at all ? We are a hour ahead in SA so couldn't watch it.

PutYourBracesTogether · 19/10/2017 05:40

Just watched it on catch up.
Jesus...... that was sad, I wish he had been happier.
It definitely felt like his goodbye.

hudyerwheesht · 19/10/2017 11:33

Just caught up an I'm glad I watched it alone as I quietly sobbed through the last 5 minutes. Sad
Makes me genuinely sad that there hardly any truly talented and genuine artists like this anymore.

Butterymuffin · 19/10/2017 22:07

The Freedom documentary is being repeated in just under an hour, tonight on C4 at 10.50 for anyone who missed it or wants another chance to watch/record. @CoolCarrie

Ive got it on again. He was such a kind hearted man too.

InigoTaran · 20/10/2017 00:16

I'm watching it again too! Miss him Sad

InigoTaran · 20/10/2017 00:18

I just got the bit about Prince! Think he said, peace to GM?

EachandEveryone · 20/10/2017 00:37

Im just up to the Freedom video. Our friend was the man in it. Never gets mentioned!

Hes such a huge lose. I loved him from when i first saw him as a 15 year old at Sheffield City Hall. I saw him twice for free when he did the nhs gigs. For people that are saying his good neend only came out after, i always knew.

I havent had a ciggie for nearly a year and ive just found half a pack. Ive never wanted one so much.

Sobbed all the way through. George was my first crush. What a voice.

EachandEveryone · 20/10/2017 01:43

Prince was referring to The Sony fight because he did the same thing. I dont know if he ever met him or Madonna although he mentioned them alot.

Where did it go wrong for George? Do you think it was because he coukdnt cone out? It never mentioned drugs when do you think he started to rely on the ? He looked so healthy in the film but he wasnt shown as he was in the past 8 years remember those awful photos in the press? No mention of Kenny either.

I only blubbed at the end. Just watching the show i thought i was there but it was Wembley arena i went to,

Each so you know who the male model in it was.

EachandEveryone · 20/10/2017 10:39

Im not outing myself, hes a good mate of one of my cousins. I think they were two male models in it who looked the same.

OP posts:
2014newme · 20/10/2017 10:46

Why would your cousins friend being in a video be mentioned? 'never gets mentioned', why would anyone mention it? Have I missed something. It would be quite a boring program if every model/singer/dancer who ever was in a GM video had to be mentioned

🤔

EachandEveryone · 20/10/2017 11:50

Sorry?? An iconic video like that? One that has been talked about since it came out? No one is making a big deal about the fellas not getting a look in i was just saying that the male models get glossed over. Im not getting into it on this lovely thread i started.

It was a lovely film and OMG his voice! I loved a lot of his music, but hearing him sing again made me realise what an incredible vocalist and songwriter he was.

My only criticism is that it was a tour through the highlights of his career and the death of his lover, but it barely mentioned his life after about 2000. I realise he became a recluse and an addict and no doubt he didn't want to talk about that, but it was the whole of the last 15 years or so of his life, so why the silence? He didn't mention his addictions, his later relationships, and his arrests were glossed over. I thought it was a bit of a whitewash really (though an enjoyable and melancholy one). RIP George. You were an amazing talent in your time.

juneau · 20/10/2017 11:59

The people he chose to interview for the film were a strange bunch too - Stevie Wonder and Mary J Blige - fine - he collaborated with them. But Liam Gallagher? Mark bloody Ronson, who seems to have a starring role in every single music documentary I ever watch, but who just trots out the same 'I was such a fan' bollocks about everyone. Bleugh! What about George's family and some of his actual friends?

Oblomov17 · 20/10/2017 12:03

Have recorded this.

MargoLovebutter · 20/10/2017 12:18

He was part of the musical background to my life and I was surprised how sad I was when I heard he'd died and the circumstances. I wasn't a huge Wham fan at the time, they were too 'popular' for me but I love their stuff now and I was a big fan of his solo career.

I was sorry there wasn't more about the latter part of his life, but wondered if perhaps that never got made or it was still too painful for him to talk about.

Not sure I believe in God or heaven, but I'd like to think he was somewhere happy with a choir of heavenly angels on backing for him!

HelenaDove · 20/10/2017 13:22

Oh God Each ............no I wouldnt expect you to out yourself Thanks

Was just making an observation Smile

Like you say they never get mentioned.
