to find the Siobhan/Brian/Ruiri/Jennifer storyline distressing? Is it just cos i'm pg and hormonal - or is this every parent's nightmare. 'what if i die and have to leave my child(ren)'.
sob.
I reckon Jenny will come round. Or at least I hope she does...
Anyone else?!

Hayley and Roy had crossed my mind. Hallgerda, I think I would consider taking a toddler on at 60; plenty of grandmothers have done that. But I think the strongest counter argument Jennifer has put is that she would hate the baby, because she wouldn't be able to help seeing Siobhan in him. That is a good enough reason. So I still reckon Brian has to ditch her, find a mate and set up a rival dynasty of his own.

bundle · 12/04/2007 10:56

Brine & Hayley?

fishie · 12/04/2007 10:58

its all a bit odd of siobhan i think, why would you beg someone to take on your child when they've just told you they'd hate them.

janh is always right, lower loxley for little ruari.

Hallgerda · 12/04/2007 12:44

fishie, I agree that JanH is usually right, but I can see yet another option. It's a long while now since the Archers had a visiting celebrity - and what greater sign of acceptance into British society could Madonna possibly wish for?

QueenofBleach · 13/04/2007 11:06

I found out thta I had a brother a few years ago and it was a shock but probably not so much as if I had been Alice's age. He was a result of a relationship that my father had between marriages. My uncle was also a naughty boy and unfortuneately my cousin found out when and it has well and truly (insert swear word of you choice) her up. Jenny is doing the right thing in protecting Alice and as everyone has said there are other more suitable options.

QueenofBleach · 13/04/2007 11:06

Oh and not new poster on MN just fancied a name change

Carmenere · 13/04/2007 19:40

Sitting on my sofa at this very minute is a gorgeous 7 yr old French girl. Dp fathered her when he had an affair when he was still with his ex. Her older siblings diddn't find out about her until she was 3. They were shocked and confused initially but now they love her to bits. I'm sorry but in the Archers case Jennifer is not protecting her child, she is being selfish. Ruraidhi is an innocent and particularly if his mother is dead, he holds no threat to her relationship. Children need siblings and it is cruel of her to deny ruraidhi a relationship with his.

Blandmum · 13/04/2007 19:51

I have an archers script signed by Daveeeed.

I was listening to this in the car with dh, he was on his way to have his chemo.

He reasured me that I will not be getting any unexpected children 'coming my way'.

You gotta larf!

Carmenere · 13/04/2007 19:51

lol MB

seeker · 13/04/2007 19:55

I have an obfious solution. Adam and what's his name who's name escapes me that he married will adopt Ruraidh. Sorted.

seeker · 13/04/2007 19:57

Damn, just read the thread and realized that everyone else was not only way ahead of me but remembered Ian's name. I think I'll go back to the gardening thread!

fleacircus · 20/04/2007 14:13

TBH if I were Jennifer I'd have left Brian the first time round. He's a tedious slug.

ViscountessPetitLapin · 20/04/2007 14:21

what happened yesterday, I missed it

AitchTwoOh · 20/04/2007 14:30

jennifer spoke to elizabeth and got the story that the sister is a career woman who disapproves of ruaridh's extra-marital existence (i imagine jennifer feels the same) and the mother is 90 and in poor health. there is another elderly uncle who trains horses. not sure of the relevance...

anyway, it ended with brian springing on Jennifer the fact taht he wants to go to ireland to be with siobhan .

i wonder if the disapproving aunt will make jen feel more kindly towards rooooooooaaaridduhuh as she spawned a bastard child of her own?

GiantSeagoingRabbit · 20/04/2007 14:34

Wow.

She's so going to end up with this child. And then Brain will get run over by Edie Grundy, drunk in charge of a thresher

Lilymaid · 20/04/2007 14:35

Lizzie said that it was impossible for her and Nigel to take Ruaridh. Why? Or did I misunderstand?

Blandmum · 20/04/2007 14:38

probably because she realises that he is the spawn of Satan.

the boy will grow up to be even worse than his father. He would steal her children's inheritance and would burn Loxley Hall down the the ground and dance in the ashes, pausing only to shag the local farmer's dd, impregnanting her and thus inflicting the dreaded Brian Genes onto the next genertion.

GiantSeagoingRabbit · 20/04/2007 14:39

LOL!

AitchTwoOh · 20/04/2007 14:43

yes lilymaid, i thought that was a bit bogus as well. at least until martianbishop Explained It All.

Blandmum · 20/04/2007 14:49

dum de dum de dum de dum.........

'Lizzy are you sure that Rurriiiaggghhh should be allowed to play with the matches'

'Don't be so wet, Nigel, darling Rurrgggghhhhtedddhh just wants toi light a small fire to warm up Cathy in the Orangry, you know how cold it can get sometimes. I've asked him to use up some of the deal vines that mysteriously collapesed after he last fed them'

'All right darling, but aren't youworried about lower loxley's carbon footprint?

'don't be silly Nigel, what could possibly go wrong?'

Scene two later in the Orangry

AitchTwoOh · 20/04/2007 14:51

you know, such is my devotion to the archers that dd thinks that theme tune is her night time music. you've rather sullied that now, MB...

Blandmum · 20/04/2007 14:54

Mine used to call it 'Mummy's Archers' for many years.

Preen. I actually names a character on the Archers once. When I used to post on UMRA (UK Media Radio Archers)

I nicknamed Kat's Phoebie 'Moonflower'. Some lurking scriptwrites (of which there were a few) nicked the idea and gave it to one of Kate's Hippy mates

My claim to fame!

Fauve · 20/04/2007 14:57

Lol, MB

I agree with Carmenere, though. And I think Alice has a right to a relationship with Ruairi, too. (Even if he does nick her birthright - the farm - etc.)

ViscountessPetitLapin · 20/04/2007 15:00

MB!

Pure genius

Aitch (nice to see you in a normal name BTW ) Weeble is the same, he always has his bath while the Archers is on... when he hears the Sunday omnibus, he dances around.

AitchTwoOh · 20/04/2007 15:13
